You misinterpreted that. It's that he has to do the scene or admit that he's full of shit. That he wasn't championing Gina, he just wanted to make a power play or was even just virtue signaling. It was Bojack accusing Flip of being misogynist, so you even have it backwards. At no point did Flip insinuate that he thought that Bojack was being misogynist. Indifferent maybe, but not misogynist. How you and 400 other geniuses interpreted that as him being called misogynist I have no f*cking clue but I'm not surprised anymore by the amazing critical thinking skills displayed on the internet. Maybe the reasoning sounded so crazy because that wasn't even the point he was trying to make in the first place. Quit being simple and learn how to process information.
@@fighterck6241 You really had no reason to be rude about it, people get different things out of stories. This whole subplot is based on the misogynistic trend of how men portray women in media and then the new trend of pushing back against it, not bc they think its truly right, but to be better. Flip is a misogynist (Philbert is very much a parody of male power fantasies) and hates that Bojack is acting like he's the acceptable woke so he's pulling him down to say "You're just like me." Plus misogyny isn't just the dudebro "I hate women." caricature, it's deeply complex and people can be so even when they say they're against it. There is a case to be made with Bojack too when we see the way he abuses women. Just bc he has lady friends does not mean he isn't.
don't get me wrong, Bojack was totally a mysgonistic character, but I don't think that was the case in this scene. I think it was more to display the reality behind tv and the people affected by it. Earlier in the episode, Gina mentioned how hollywoo sexualizes women for the male gaze and how she doesn't do it because she wants to but because she has to. BJ later asked Flip if they could cut out the stripper scene, which they did. And in that scene the actresses for the strip club scene make comments like "I have a child to feed!" But instead of helping Gina, it's only made worse since now she has to do a nude scene. Given the context from earlier and the wah she responds, both the audience and BJ know she doesn't want to do it but feels that she has to. So when Flip asks Gina if she wants to do it, BJ is backed into a corner of saving himself and forcing Gina to do the scene or embarrassing himself and "saving" Gina. Sorry this was long but I hoped I explained my view right lol
@@artmoryoo I agreed on everything you said. Bojack probably felt bad for Gina, but it was mostly to prove a point. However, I want to clarify what type of misogyny Bojack shows. He is confident enough to fully acknowledge (and benefit from) the capacity of female professionals. However, Bojack has problems in having personal relationships with women in general. He practically tried to pursuit every single women he interacted at least two times, unless they were related to him. And each of these women had an emotional vulnerable side he (unconsciously) took advantage of... in the case he actually slept with them. To be honest, I prefer to platonically interact with the type of people like Bojack, instead a hate-women men in terms of careers, but that doesn't change it's wrong in another way.

@@PileOfStones Not really, that's my point. Portraying masculinity as empowerment and femininity as fragile serves the male-gaze (you don't see women looking at Kratos and going "omg, he so hot" because he wasn't design to appeal to them).

@@oz_jones did you actually watched the episode. This is exactly the opposite of what the show portraits. Flip is a insecure, misogynist, narssisist that makes everyone around him suffer. She tries to make it work even when it's clear the director has not clue on what he is doing. Bojack just needs to up his confidence and arguments lol

But Flip didn't agree with the changes until he realized he should make Bojack eat his words by making him be the sexual object instead, thereby "flipping" the script on female exploitation by making a male endure it to prove he actually was about equality.
It very much is. BoJack’s standing up for Gina and trying to be a good person, but Gina doesn’t want a reputation as being difficult to work with so she denies that it bothers her.
