And my mom who has never seen bojack but grew up with full house had no idea why his name was so funny to us

Every sexual relationship Bojack had never worked out in the end so he didn't want to risk losing Diane as well. They parted ways at the end in a healthy way at least.

If she genuinely wanted to help Bojack she would have set real boundaries, encouraged him to get real help, and convince him to take responsibility for his actions instead of covering his ass. She even went as far as covering up the fact he strangled his costar. And suggested telling the press that the Sarah Lynn story was a hoax. If PC were more like Diane Bojack would’ve gotten sober a lot sooner, and if Diane wasn’t in his life, he probably would’ve stayed on that toxic path of PC covering up his mistakes and not letting be held accountable until he died.
