Discover the way to grill the juiciest shrimp with tips from Jamie Purviance. Skewer from the tail end through the head end for the first one then through the head end until the skewer is filled, this keeps them juicy. Brush with extra virgin olive oil and lightly season with dried spices. Cook with the lid closed over high heat (450-500 degrees).

"The shrimp will tell you when they're ready to turn" I've been waiting for 30 minutes and they have said nothing, they're turning a dark black color

For me, this was not so great. Didn't talk about differences between shell on and off. Didn't talk about the differences between gas and charcoal. I use charcoal and have trouble with flair-ups even though I try to go light on the oil. This seems a gas demonstration. Was hoping for a little more knowledge.

At 2:41 - "Very very important here that I close the lid to trap that good smokiness that's developing." What smokiness? That's a gas grill! You might as well just cook the shrimp in an oven. If you want a smoky flavor, grill over charcoal. If you want a mercaptan flavor, grill over gas.

I used a different recipe. I marinated 12 large shrimp in orange juice and honey. I used the skewering technique you showed. I got great results. Really moist. I will keep them pressed together on skewers from now on. You made ME a better griller.

I used a basic version of this, used my own spices. It turned out really great! I definitely recommend using olive oil and coating the skewered shrimp, makes them easier to get off the skewer.

idk man get creative thats what cooking is all about, you see the spice mix was red, what are some red spices? try paprika, cayenne, since its seafood probably old bay or maybe seasoning salt if he's using a premade spice mix, after that its really up to you add w/e you like

Shrimp close together keep the moisture, it passes from one to the another. Simple cooking. Fry chicken, you don't load the pan because the moisture passes onto the others, grilling, keep the moisture.

Most tips I've seen said to do all the shrimp like the first, so the don't spin when you turn the skewer, but I will definitely try it this way. I'll try to this way as well as opposed to marinated shrimp. I guess I'll try a spicy BBQ rub on them or a spicy shrimp/seafood seasoning on them similar to Old Bay.
