    Wonderful looking shrimp. And you can get them fresh, very very nice. And I agree the biggest and most common folks make with seafood is over cooking. Another way to grill shrimp is using a basket. I like the skewers but the nice thing about the basket is you can pull those shrimp that cook fast so you don't over cook those. I'm going to try that marinade, looks great. Have a great day.

    • @Viewtoagrill
      @Viewtoagrill  2 роки тому +2

      Hello Victor. Are you talking about the same kind of basket that I have seen others use to grill fish?

    • @victorbenner539
      @victorbenner539 2 роки тому +1

      @@Viewtoagrill well first off I want to say again those shrimp looked great. Hell they looked like small lobsters 🦞. And that fresh, oh boy I'd be eating lots of those. Anyway, I almost didn't mention about the baskets because there are sooo many types of baskets. So I'll break them down to two different types. Open and closed. The type you are probably thing that you have seen are closed. And those are wonderful for some kinds of fish. Kinda depends on what technique you're using ( at this point Dash might say asking Victor can a question could take up a lot of comments space. Similar to asking Sheldon a question from Big Bang Theory 😁) Anyways I'm referring mostly to open style baskets. There are lots of those in different shapes and sizes. I prefer for most of my " basket " grilling a basket shaped like a skillet with similarl style handle. I have one that's made of stamped carbon steel with lots of holes in it I like to use. Shrimp, vegetables, mushrooms, etc. I place it on the grill and let it heat up with the grill. I wipe some canola oil on using my tongs and a paper towel ( for safety reasons I don't spray Pam or any vegetable oils onto grills that are currently burning 😳🔥) Anyways I just toss in the shrimp and occasionally give a good shake or front flip ( I hope you figure out by what I mean there) and we're good to go. Really works well when doing lots of shrimp. And because it's a open basket you can pull the first ones that finish. Now admittedly loose shrimp are not necessarily as nifty looking as on a skewer. So here's some tips on cooking and presentation. You mentioned about using one skewer of shrimp to protect the tails of the skewer next to it,well done. To many folks don't think about that. So here's a tip to add to that. Aluminum foil. Lay down a strip for the tails to go over. Here's another using foil. If you have access to Rosemary plants cut off some of the heavier, older branch parts and make small single shrimp skewers from the Rosemary. Pull the needles from most of a piece that's say 4 or 5 inches long, leaving the tip needles. Put shrimp, small chunks of meat,vegetables whatever on the stem. These make wonderful little appetizers with a nice Rosemary flavor. And remember to put the tassle end of it over a strip of foil so it doesn't get burnt up. The guys like these but it's the women that LOVE these. I'll eventually show these in some vids someday. But you can show this on your channel, I won't mind. Definitely give it a try this summer, they are great. So ok I think that about wraps things up. I hope I answered your question 😁. Oh if I could only use just a few words. Sir, have a great day 🌤 😀 👍🔥🍻🦐

    • @Viewtoagrill
      @Viewtoagrill  2 роки тому +2

      Victor! Hey that is a great idea for rosemary... I will try that because I do grow rosemary as part of my herb garden. Thanks for that tip! I like it!

    • @victorbenner539
      @victorbenner539 2 роки тому +1

      @@Viewtoagrill I'm glad you like it. Here's a tip for any visiting Vegetarians or vegans. Instead of any meat in the rosemary, just slide on a cherry tomato to the sprig and your ready to go. Seriously. 😁 ( I wonder what a slice of pineapple would be like🤔) Anyways experiment. Let me know if you come up with anything else.

    I grilled shrimp for the first time last week and used a marinade that I found to be too spicy for my taste. I will use your method in the near future. Excellent run-through, will be doing this one on the weekend. Just one question: have you tried grilling them also with the shells on? I find that most shrimp, without the shells, have a tendency to dry out. I've soaked them also in ice water and baking soda, which makes them plumper and juicier (though I wouldn't do that with the shrimp of the quality in your demo), then marinaded them. Just wondering.

    • @Viewtoagrill
      @Viewtoagrill  2 роки тому

      Harry. I have seen people grill shrimp with the shell on but only on TV and UA-cam. I can’t think of anyone I know who grills shrimp with the shell on.
      I think I mentioned in the video that I would rather have under done shrimp than over done shrimp. Pay attention to those visual cues that I spoke about in the video and you should be ok. Shrimp has such a clean taste that you should not be putt off by a medium well shrimp. Also… do this… grill a single shrimp and time it… when you think it is done cut it open and look at it and then taste it.. as long as all your shrimp are relatively the same size this will give you a good time frame as to how long to grill the rest of them. You can judge from the one shrimp if you need to leave them on a little longer or pull them off a little sooner.
      Let me know how it works out. Good luck!
