    Nice video. I’m looking at installing one in my overlanding vehicle. Don’t you need another AC breaker on the output side? Not quite sure if it’s needed.

    Victron measure their 230V output capacity in VA, so unfortunately, you actually only have just about 1300W of available power and this decreases with if the unit gets hot.

      Still ok for me, I am keeping all my equipment below 1000w
      I do believe for short periods it can do more

    • @MatteoMi
      @MatteoMi 2 роки тому

      That's true, and apparently this is the biggest of the range, but I think is acceptable, after all you're saving the space of a separate inverter.

    • @metalsnapper6728
      @metalsnapper6728 2 роки тому

      @@MatteoMi incredibly Victron do make a 12V 3000VA with a 120A charger combination unit in their Multiplus range…and to really blow your mind in their Quattro range, you can get a 12V 5000VA with a 220A charger, which is a beast. They go bigger than this but your getting into 24V and 48V systems.

    I have a technical question I need help with. I am running a pellet stove in my house, which only draws a maximum of 3 to 5 amps, and no more than 400 watts. It's actually less, because I never used the igniter. So it's more like 200 watts and 2 to 3 amps. The fuse I have chosen is 80 amps. My inverter charges my 200ah battery at 40amps and is rated at 1000 watts. Here's my question. If I only use my setup for my pellet stove, and I never draw more than a few amps in use, is my 80amp fuse more than enough? The recommendation is much higher, but I am assuming that is with the idea of drawing much more of the 1000 watt capacity the inverter offers. I'm using 6 gauge cables, and they are only a few feet long.

    • @samedwards2088
      @samedwards2088  Рік тому

      To be honest I don't know, I assume if the fuse is smaller it can't cause any harm, it would simply blow
      Also I am not sure about this but are dc amps and ac amps different
      Sorry not much use to you

    A question buddy from what you said . you say the Victron ac out goes to all van 240v sockets
    but have you got it running to another rcd or rccb or mcb breakers
    Otherwise it will be used for microwave if have one . Water heater or space heater . then anything you plug in to other sockets
    I believe you get a total of 5 sockets

    • @samedwards2088
      @samedwards2088  Рік тому +1

      Long time since I fitted and not been out in the van for a while
      So the mains power comes in to a 16 breaker, it then goes into the Victron and then out to the mains sockets installed in my van, I think I have 5 or 6
      Under normal use the sockets can draw power from the mains hook up, the power power runs through the victron
      Now if there is no mains power the victron can draw up to 1600 watts from the leisure battery, the victron convers 12v into 220v, so can only power up to 1600 watts, my air con is a soft start one but the battery would only run it for about 20 mins
      If you had a 2kw kettle running and tried you operate a telly it probably would not work because the max power on this inverter is 1600w
      There are more powerful victrons
      Hope that helps

      @Elites-asthetic Рік тому

      Thanks 🙏 did you fit yourself or get someone to do it ? I have the same set up and multiplus . My motorhome too has its own breaker panel a rccb & mcb
      when running the multiplus to the shore in breaker does the shore power go to a breaker then out to the multiplus do you know. I’m just trying figure out where to put the cable from the multiplus before a breaker mcb switch or after that’s the confusing part.
      Same again from the Ac out feed that inverts the sockets you want. do you run the cable from the Victron to or after a breaker then sockets

    Hi Sam, Does the 200 gx switch have to be switched on, to trickle charge the starter battery? and also do I have to be connected to EHU for it to work? Motorhome is in storage and no ehu available.Many thanks

      Hi Barrie, sorry for not replying sooner
      I have not used our Motorhome for some time, I am not sure about the trickle charge question
      I think your other question was does the vehicle need to be connected to a EHU for the Victron to work
      No, as long as there is power in the battery the victron will convert it into AC and send it out to whatever AC items you need to run

    • @barrieathey1822
      @barrieathey1822 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for your reply. When I asked about connecting to EHU it wasn't about using AC, I was asking for the trickle charge to work should I be connected to EHU with the, GX 200 Charger/On/Off switch, be switched to charger?
      Many thanks

      @@barrieathey1822
      Hi Barrie
      The short answer is I don't know
      The starter battery may still take power from the trickle charger even when the inverter is off
      The way to know for sure is with the leisure battery all connected up, turn off the inverter and using a multi meter to see if any power is coming out of the trickle charge connection on the multi plus
      But if that is the case then it would eventually drain your leisure battery
      But at least you will know

    Hi What size of fuse is on the positive cable from the multiplus to the house battery?

    • @kadiraras1488
      @kadiraras1488 2 роки тому +1

      1600 W means for 12v leisure battery it will theoretically draw maximal 133 amps (voltage times current gives power) , use a fuse 20% or 30% higher for safety margin, 150 or 160 amp fuse should be good. Make sure your cable are thick enough for these currents. If your leisure battery is 24 volts do the calculations accordingly

    I don't see any fuses on the red wires close to the battery?
    Be careful when you make installations, all red wires must be fuse protected as close to the battery as possible.
    Otherwise if you get a short circuit somewhere in the 12v system the wires will take fire.
    From the manual.
    The product must be installed in a dry and well-ventilated area, as close as possible to the
    batteries. There should be a clear space of at least 10 cm around the appliance for cooling.

      Hi Sonny
      There is an in line fuse on the red wire between the inverter and the battery
      Not easy to see but it is there
