- Can I beat Dark Souls 2 using only the Special L2 attacks of the Smelter Hammer starting fresh on NG+? The smelter hammer has a unique 2-handed spinning attack that literally launches your character forward and face down upon the ground. Doesn't sound so bad? Well, in addition I also cannot wear any armor or level up vitality. Meaning that I will permanently fat roll and have to deal with massively reduced stamina regeneration against new game plus enemies.

Finally, a challenge that made covetous demon fight challenging and interesting - I wouldn't think I would live long enough to see this day. Fantastic challenge idea :D
Man, I was playing Baldurs Gate 3 recently and I got into a fight with a Witch who made illusory clones of herself, and I couldnt tell which Witch was each Witch, was reminded of your videos and started laughing. Now that's some long term entertainment.
You should have said:
"I was fighting a witch which could make clones of herself, so I couldn't tell which witch was which witch, which reminded me of the videos in which you said that"

Lvl 1 runs, only leveling one stat, no rolling, etc are all amazing and interesting in their own right, but this channel does the best challenge runs by far
Yeah, main problem with all of those is that every challenge runner does them, and once you've seen one, you've seen them all. Stuff like this is unique and therefore much more interesting to watch.
Never in my life would I have expected a run where fume knight was easier than covetous demon

I think we need to take time to appreciate the fact he managed to make covetous demon harder than fume knight.
You're the only challenge runner who manages to genuinely impress me with creative rulesets and actual super difficult runs. Your jokes are amazing as well. Insane, nice vid as always
51:55- i just realized why the king couldn't defeat Nashanda. We, as players, can easily dodge around the curse orbs. But players are almost always the smallest characters in a souls game.
The king's hit box is too big to avoid the curse orbs. He is playinmg one of those "get 5% biggest with every kill" challenge runs, and hit the boss he can't beat due to his scaling.

That Alonne fight was one of the most butt clenching feats I've witnessed in a challenge run. Props man
The Fume Knight fight was particularly interesting for this run. Drinking estus directly behind him always baits his overhead slam, which always empowers his sword, which prevents him from entering second phase. Pure coincidence that this play style is really good for fighting him specifically.

I havent laughed at a joke as much as I did at the ”that answers the age old question, what came first the chicken or the axe” and it was a fucking pun, and took me a good while to understand
As a heads up for future DS2 runs, the Blossom Kite Shield is actually *hurting* you here rather than helping. The shield has enough weight that equipping it actually makes your stamina regain slower than the benefit the shield provides. The shield is only useful if you are using it as a shield, since it basically becomes almost a 0 weight shield.
So if you aren't using it as a shield, do not use it, your stamina will actually regen slower 99% of the time. It's only really useful at extremely low equip load, or if you're actively blocking with it.
I never laughted so hard with your videos like I did in this one. Those swings and sending yourself flying and the enemies was pure perfection.

In my experience with this game, taking a little extra time to grab some Seeds of the Tree of Giants can be immensely helpful for dealing with invader NPCs. Make the gank work for you, not against, and sometimes even get a bit of a distraction in the process.
Could also pick one as your starting gift, but I've yet to have a run where the Bonfire Ascetic was the wrong choice there.
I always assumed that giant seeds only work on invading players and not on NPCs
@@PressContinueNope, it's both. Nothing more satisfying than watching Vorgel get mauled by his own dogs, or Dennis meeting up with the Ninja Turtles just across the gap.
Agro works a little weird, but if they start hitting each other, they'll continue to do so.

Watching that Alonne fight gave me more anxiety than any challenge run I've done.
Left-handed needs to be used more. It’s Boxing strats. The liver is on the right side of your body. So if you are left-handed, you can hit it easier. Similar to how most enemies are right-handed and have a shield in their left.

Last time I saw someone struggle with Covetous Demon, I was watching a blind playthrough.
Can't recall if he died to it, but it did do that attack where it tries to eat the player and spits them out with their gear unequipped. He was understandably surprised.
Ah, covetous demon is much harder than fume knight, I'm learning so much about Dark Souls 2 today!
I now started a challenge run, thanks to your inspiration, where I play with the starter class, I think warrior, without leveling up, so basically only getting better with equpiment, rings and weapon upgrades.
It's quite fun, going to the places I know I get better equipment from and stuff, but also still dark souls 2 SotfS, so often pretty annoying as well 😅 But I have to say even with low adp and health, I'm pretty good in the game compared when I first played it.
If I manage to beat the game with that, I'll try a run as depraved and who knows maybe even without armor or something
