She varnished his whole boat as a cunning plan to...spend time with him? Well...that's commitment. The best past is when the kid fires the talisman at Viper's face and you see the look of surprise. The American Ninja films are amazing they are truly bat-shit insane! Interesting fact, Lee Reyes is the brother of Ernie Reyes Jr. who started in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ll, The Secret of the Ooze and Surf ninjas!
You made it through all 5! Congrats! You are now just as much a ninja master as our ninja masters in these films! Now it up to you to decide whether you’re going to be a good ninja like Joe, Sean, and....I guess Sean/Joe from this one...or get an eye patch and frock and become an evil ninja. The choice is yours.
@@RedEyeReviews That is what I would choose for myself also! What I love is that you could really get the sense that Steve James enjoyed playing Curtis. He is in Delta Force (another Cannon film) with Chuck Norris, but it’s a much smaller part. So now where do you go from here? Here’s a list of suggestions that I know you are super aware of, but I need to practice my one finger typing on an iPad: - Enter the Ninja - Revenge of the Ninja (shot in my home town of Salt Lake City and a “sequel???” To Enter the Dragon) - Ninja III: the Domination (so, yep, these are 3 not related, but totally sequels from Cannon. No need to watch in order, because there are no connective threads other than “ninja” are in the titles. But III is my favorite.) - The Octagon with Chuck Norris (I highly recommend this and thanks to another subscriber of yours for recommending this) - And I’ve recommended this before, but on Netflix is Five Ninja Elements. It’s a 1970s Kung Fu master piece and I get such a kick out of the outfits, story and fights. Maybe not your thing, but it’s worth a watch. Keep up the good work and hopefully you’ll be on Patreon or something soon.
Steve James was just a real treat. The guy is one of those people that you can tell, just loves to act and perform. It's been so long since I've seen Delta Force! I'll have to go back and check that out. And thank you SO much for this list. You all have gotten my ninja/karate interest through the roof. We will be doing all of these for sure! its the required uniform I am sure haha. and no....as far as I can tell, the colors are just sorta there. Like "I want to be a ninja" "Whats your favorite color?" "Umm purple!" "Here you go"
Just binged all 5 AM reviews. No idea there was even a fifth. I rewatched the first four earlier last year; realized now I forgot to finish the fourth one. 🤣
These ninjas are smart, entering backward, instead of forward. I mean think about it? How many times have we seen villains in movies enter forward only to get shot in the back? American Ninja 5 should be a must watch for any actor in villian role lol.
So I definitely recommend Berry Gordy's 'The Last Dragon' for a review! Absolute classic from the 80s, pure cheese, great fight scenes, a Bruce Lee Montage and one of the best movie villians ever - Sho-Nuff!
If you haven't watched 1982's Duel to the Death, I highly recommend it for some insane ninja shenanigans. It's not a "ninja movie" but it doesn't feature some of the most magical ninjas that ever ninjaed. I'm talking a giant ninja that explodes into a a bunch of ninjas, ninjas traveling through the ground like sandworms from Dune, and if features one of the most epic end fights in movie history.
I've had a hard life, walk on at college, drafted by the Raiders, body broken down and killed in a car accident. Then, homeless, had to sell my SB rings, but now I'm in charge of the biggest slap and tickle operation in LA. I am thankful for everything, but I wish I had a ninja army to expand my business empire.
also totally love that each section of the movie features ninjas in different uniform colors. like, somebody making this was a fan of the TMNT arcade games

This was great. Thank you for making this! I watched the entire thing and really enjoyed it. How did you learn about some of the facts you shared about the making of the movie and the people in it?
I am so glad you liked it all! So I usually google news about the movie. "Making of" or "American Ninja Trivia", etc. IMDB occasionally has some trivia about the movie as well. But that's my favorite part of Making these videos. Getting to find out about the Making of.
I love that "Ninja Joe" changes his shirt from grey to white after catching on fire and then right back to grey. Clark Kent/Peter Parker eat your heart out.
I only ever saw it once in my life, and I cannot remember which of the five American Ninja movies it was, but I swear there was an "American Ninja" cover of Guess Who's "American Woman" that the television station ran before the movie. I cannot find any references to it, but I *know* it is real.
I think this movie had all the typical "ninja" formula you'd find in a 80s/90s era film. Had a talented "ninja", the hero kid who learns the secret trade of ninja, some sort of nasty past that had to be resolved, and of course a good climax fight sequence where everything gets resolved by some secret ninja move. So I think that is why you liked this one over the others.
American Samurai starring David Bradley and Mark Dacascos is good one too. Unfortunately the studio intervened in the editing room. Still 100% worth the watch for soundtrack alone.
Tried to watch this on the MGM app but it was either so bad they don't have it on there or it was released by another company.
