The opening scene in Ace Ventura When Nature Calls is more hilarious and heartbreaking...May God bless that raccoons soul. And for those that didn't see it,it was a comedy version of the opening scene of Cliff Hanger.
This came out while I was in Jr high School I can't remember what grade exactly, everyone in my grade went to the theater to see this when the dad smacked into the ground the entire theater erupted into laughter but me i was like what the fuck is wrong with people lol but every time i see it now its hilarious!
"The rope breaks...because it had enough of life and it gave up"!! That is the MOST silliest sentence ever written or said out loud! LMAO. I think I rewound that part of the video five times! This was such a train wreck of a movie but I love train wreck movies! Great video as always RedEye!! Thanks from California...
That dude at basecamp in the blue with the Australian accent played one of the agents in the first Matrix. He later starred in Longmire. I saw this movie for the first time last year and couldn't think of anything else when I saw him
I know the criticism, but it's my number 1 go-to movie. It's a beautiful story, so many layers of character conflict, the landscape, and the score. I love the cast, as one is Bill Paxton (RIP) anyways. I'm glad my old school friend dragged me into the theatres to see it when we were kids. This movie made me want to learn more about the history of mountaineering.
Best line from any film comes from this movie. "Don't mind her she's French / Canadian, sometimes she's Canadian and can be quite pleasant, today she's obviously French"
Always thought it was odd that Ed Viesturs allowed a fictional character to goad him about the real life deaths of his close friends in at attempt to guilt trip him to help a fictional person.
1 does what they can to finance money hemorrhaging pursuits. Mountain climbing isn't exactly a hi💵generating spectator sport or highly publicized besides
Did you ever see the movie “K2” with Michael Biehn? It’s been a long time for me and I’m not a climber myself, but I was just wondering whether it was as riddled with inaccuracies. I remember liking it at the time.
Isn't there a scene in a helicopter, where one of the climbers is stretching and someone asks what he's doing, to which he replies "trying to kiss my ass goodbye" ?
This movie is ridiculous, but I love it. Great music, some decent drama and tension, plus some over the top action scenes. The jump from one cliff to another is just mind-blowingly silly. He would have broken every bone in his body.
This is one of my favorite movies. The score was phenomenal. Your take on almost every scene was hilarious. Good job but please leave my favorite movies alone. Next do Night of the Comet. 😂 And p.s. The scene where Peter's assistant falls is crucial to the plot. The way that guy breaks his leg in multiple places plus dislocates his hip as he falls means he needs immediate surgery which forces them to hitch a ride on the military chopper to the military hospital which then pitstops to K2 basecamp to drop off medical supplies which leads Peter to Annie. This is how Peter ends up there. Otherwise he would have been nowhere near Annie or that rescue. The broken leg victim is the conduit. You can thank me later.
I saw a documentary about the India Pakistan war in the mountains and the elements was actually the reason for the death of a lot of soldiers in the area, not the war itself.
I had the same Glacier Glasses Robin Tuney has... lasted 18 years... now I have the Julbo Cham Polarized... love them. I like how Scott Glen just lives on K2... WTF does he eat? I also love how everyone on K2 (which is slightly shorter than Everest, and more remote) isn't wearing down suits. Instead, they're dressed like they're climbing Rainier in the summer. (I miss Seattle). The Chris O'Neill jump is hilarious, it might as well been a Trebuchet launching him into a cliff of jagged rock.
How is a wall of fire from the exploding nitro hitting the ground not setting Monique on fire? How is Peter not sliding down the side of that second cliff with his two ice picks. How is Annie uninjured when she falls on solid ice on her back while McClaren who falls the same way has multiple broken ribs and internal bleeding. How did they go thru two packs of dex in two days time. How are they summitting carrying no 02.
I'll say this; as absolutely ridiculous as this movie is, I always just...hate watching that scene of the guy taking that tumble and breaking the hell out of his leg. That was pretty good effects work.
Dude, give me the DEX. I need the DEX BROOOO!!! GIVE ME THE DEX SO I CAN SURVIVE THIIIIISSSS!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I love this movie. Sorry not sorry. I looooooove it. It's so good I only need nachos cause as soon as I press play my TV just starts sweating CHEESEEEEEEEEE!!! As inaccurate as it is, it's tottaly epic. The dude searching for his wife, the liquid explosive, the "lets let the other dude die" moral dilema, etc. So entertaining. No matter where I start it, I always finish it. 😁😁😁
I don't care if this movie is bad, I just love it. I saw it in theaters when I was 5 because my father wanted to see it. This movie singlehandedly made me want to pursue a career in photography and later on in filmmaking. But also made me wanna climb mountains. And I have done all 3 at one point in my life. I can see over it's many flaws because of how made me feel when I was a little boy, it was just a blast. People like to shit on it because of it's silliness, but I thank this movie for many things I am today. I will always defend it not as an amazing peace of cinema, not as a great example of mountaineering, but as a "fantasy" light-hearted, and fun piece of entertainment. It will always be one of my favorite movies ever, no matter how goofy people say it is. I'm not cynical, nor hypocrite, I sincerely say it, I love this movie. And no, it is not a guilty pleasure to me, I don't hide saying that I care for a great plot or grounded reality, that's BS, movies are also meant to be fun and escape reality every once in a while. And this movie does it for me, everytime I watch it, it make me feel like a kid again, believing everything is possible. I did mountaineering thanks to this movie. I became a photographer thanks to Chris O'Donell's character. I pursue filmmaking because this made me discover a whole world that involves making a movie because it made me curious of how they did somethings. I mean Martin Campbell is responsible for GOLDENEYE, CASINO ROYALE, THE MASK OF ZORRO.... I dare anyone to say those are terrible films. This man made with VERTICAL LIMIT a fun, enjoyable, action-adventure film. You say it's ridiculous and all of you compare it with CLIFFHANGER... but what about: THE EIGER SANCTION? Just wondering...
Nope. This movie sucks. Of course you liked it when you were five, you were FIVE. Everything is cool to a toddler. You're mistaking nostalgia for quality.. I thought power rangers was premium entertainment at five. Does that mean power rangers is amazing? No. It means kids are stupid and have no critical thinking skills..
Haha. I just recently watched this again for the first time in 15 years. I saw this in theaters and at the time I was so scary, it made my even more terrified of heights haha.
I got to say this is become one of my favorite channels. Your videos seem professionally done which isn't always the case with UA-camrs who review movies, you also have a good sense of humor and it's kind of nice to revisit some of these movies without actually having to watch the whole movie. When I was a kid I never watched Beastmaster and I always wanted to see it because I had friends who loved it. Years later when I was an adult I came across and tried to watch it and realized it was the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life. Not the kind of thing I would ever rewatch on my own. I can watch a humorous 20 minutes video that Recaps the most notable parts. It's the way I feel about almost every John Claude Van Damme movie or Steven Seagal movie. Though I could watch time cop or under siege again to this day but I'm not sure if there's too many more movies than either their libraries that I would want to rewatch now. But watching a 20 minute video about the movie Bloodsport or above the law is quite doable and I still get to have some nostalgia
Quick note - the mountain they filmed the Himalayan climbing scenes was actually Mt Aoraki/Mt Cook in the South Island in New Zealand. Also the director was a New Zealander - hence why Tem Morrison was in it at the start (Speed 2 and Once were warriors)
Always look forward to your reviews. Has been years since I have seen vertical limit. Just rented it, so I could watch it before the review. I will send you the rental bill!
This make me feel so justified in having avoided this movie for so many years. And I love you being able to leverage your RL knowledge of climbing into one of your reviews. :-). I bet this is one movie Martin Campbell leaves off his resume...
Extracts possibly every litre of a humans blood supply, Attaches a flare, and sets it off as a giant bloody signal.. yet later can only write the word 'bang' 🤣🤣 Went from Jason Bourne to Die Hard real quick!
I think you have to be in a certain mindset to enjoy this movie. Hoping for/expecting realism is NOT the mindset, lol. I still love it, idc what anyone says. :)
Ahh Hollywood and the cold. I live in Canada, and Ive been outside in -40 tons, and sometimes just quick to grab something with no head gear. It hurts right away, burns. Any skin exposed, but in Hollywood, everything is just A-ok

Another movie Red Eye covered that I completely forgot about . Sad to say I watched this in the theater when in came out . It was so bad my memory erased it . I also like when it comes to any movie he reviews with anything to do with climbing he explains to people that don't climb ( you no sane people with better thing's to do ) stuff like we know what the hell he's talking about .
I saw Vertical Limit in the theaters when I was a kid. It's one of my guilty pleasures to this day!
My favorite thing about seeing this film was the shock tarts my mom bought me at AMPM that gave my tongue sores
Bro same.
The helicopter dropping off scene is everything ☺️
The opening scene in Cliffhanger is kind of disturbing whereas the opening scene in Vertical Limit is absolutely hilarious. 😄
I agree for some reason I’ve never been able to watch this opening without laughing out loud
When you get out-acted by Stallone and Yondu.
The opening scene in Ace Ventura When Nature Calls is more hilarious and heartbreaking...May God bless that raccoons soul. And for those that didn't see it,it was a comedy version of the opening scene of Cliff Hanger.

@@thedragonlee76 my brother bursted out crying when we saw that I theaters. I was so confused I was like.... It's a movie lol. Ahahaha
No one:
Red Eye: I've been ice climbing for 37 years
I’m crying at the leg braking scene. God damn
I’m convinced Peter pushed him after he scared the snow leopards away
That was hard to watch. 😖
Didn't know you were into climbing. Probably one of my favourite reviews you've done cause of your insight on the subject. Keep it up Redeye!
I knew he did. He mentioned it in another movie review about climbing. I think it was a Sylvester Stallone one.
Then your memory is better than mine mate.
Thanks friend! I do love it. :) haven't been a bit but I used to go a couple times a week
Don’t believe
Crushing an ant hill with a boot isn’t climbing

lol, I saw this in theaters and I thought it was alright. Then again I've never gone climbing.
I beg to differ, the dad hitting the ground looked good too.
That was the most realistic thing in the movie. 🤣 🤣 🤣
Helicopter pilot is Boba Fett at 4:27
If Redeye Reviews ever held an auction where the winner got to watch a film with him while he commented, I would take a 401K loan to participate.

One of the most accurate too 😂

Probably horrifyingly accurate portrayal of real events and realistic in it's own right about people climbing to Disney's Magic Mountain.
I can't remember if I've seen it before. But I'll check it out
@@RedEyeReviews Definitely give it a watch. One of the best mountaineering movies.
I enjoyed K2 a lot more than Vertical Limit.
I had been waiting for this one.

This might be the funniest review yet 😂 The only way this movie could be worse/funnier is if Steven Segal was climbing the mountains.
As of Pakistani origin. I found the military outpost scene hilarious. Especially, when he goes ‘time to go wake up the Indians’ 🤦🏽♂️😆😆

loved the super expensive scene where he slides down and barely hung on to his pickaxe just to die a minute later
Those side characters might as well have not been in the movie. They did not affect the plot whatsoever. They were just there to die.
My god i didn't think it was this funny. Bro, keep making these. Makes my days and weeks so much better.

This was Cliffhanger's competition back in the day.
Bill Paxton rules! Do True Lies sometime, my favorite scene of his is the begging to Arnold scene in that movie
