Before Prince died he said that the media blew up the so called rivalry. He has great respect for Michael and even sung one of Michael's songs in a concert.
@@jennisejones6023 Michael Jackson did all those things too and he flat out eclipses Prince on all levels. I don't even know why you mentioned dancing because that alone tells you they aren't equal.
Prince and MJ never had a rivalry, Prince said so himself. They both have respect for each other. This Prince and MJ rivalry BS have got to stop. It never was. It was the music media started this BS!
Jimmy Jam said in an interview after Prince death that he and Terry Lewis went to MJ's house to discuss an album and MJ kept replaying the video over and over again of Prince falling off the stage and laughing. He also mentioned Prince sent MJ a box/gift and he told Latoya, this guy's crazy! He sent me a bunch of voodoo. I'm never talking to him again. I think it all started when MJ went to studio to see Prince and Prince beat him in ping pong and laughed at him and MJ got embarrassed. There was something there.
+geminigirllrrs there may have been a rivalry, but it was all in love. Even MJ's family said there was nothing but respect between the two. After MJ's death Prince would send Katherine Jackson flowers. Mrs. Jackson even told Latoya when passed she lost another one of her boys.
+Starrdigital yes, I remember that but there was no animosity on Prince's side. We know that Michael was very sensitive. I think his feelings were hurt they were never friends again after prince sent that gift.
Incorrect. In Prince's mind no. But Michael thought Prince was trying to put a hex on him when Prince gave him a gift. The reason why Michael wanted O2 arena shows was because Prince did 21 shows (I think) and Michael wanted to do more. And you know what happened then.
Your comment is incorrect. Prince said that he had no rivalry with Michael Jackson. He wouldn't speak for Jackson. I remember hearing decades ago that Jackson wanted to be remembered as the greatest performer in history. That sounds like someone who would have rivals.
Prince performed with many artists like Beyonce, Lenny Kravitz, Janelle Monae, Tom Petty & Steve Winwood & Jeff Lynne, etc. He would often sit in & play with musicians during concerts & shows. Both Prince & Michael Jackson were one of a kind, unique in their own way, truly miss both of them 😔😢
i was just about thinking that dude hung on quincy jones every word when jones betrayed MJ after his death and spoke against someone who respected him & never forgot to give jones his flowers
I agree💯... Quincy was bitter towards Prince and always denied his talents... Quincy was also bitter towards Michael when he left on his own to do his 4th album Dangerous... He later collabed with the legendary Teddy Riley to do most of Michael's production on that album... He wanted a new style of production, which was the New Jack Swing Era... Most ppl don't know that Michael and Prince secretly watched both each other's concerts live... When Michael died, Prince locked himself in a room in Paisley park for days and was never seen... So they had much respect for each other as talented artists... So where is the beef? Sounds like BS to me...
“It’s another thing when you hear it from the source.” What is presented hear is not direct from the source. The source would be Prince and Michael not Quincy. How would he know that Prince was waiting to run over Michael and LaToya with a car? Not buying it.
True i like prince to be fair mj didnt do that either tho he didn't need to collab for commercial success the songs he did collab on alot of people don't even know about. But he did like working with people and feed off their energy. They both were great and different
ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn lmao 90% of mj songs were about his feelings and how he felt which is why most is about Diana Ross and humanitarian work. He created music in his head just like Prince he created melodies to his music just like prince and sung the shit out of every song just like prince. So saying he was only after money is biased considering he gave up most of it up every chance he got and considering when he could've sold out and let the record company rip everybody he grew up with off he was one of the first to speak out got set up , legacy trashed through the mud and died because of it also just like prince.
ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn no I'm fair and unbiased lol your crazy and up princes ass they both were great no need to bring down one to uplift another you never see mj fans bring down others to uplift mj its always prince fans who do that and that's because we don't have to prove he was great he just was the king. So be a be a good prince fan and have enough faith in your artist to know he was great without tearing down others accomplishments the only thing mj had help on was producing which he also did half of he wrote most of his hits and composed 98% of them he was the ultimate composer he was known to musicians as the one who can't play music but can tell you exactly what he wanted each note to sound like by ear. Prince was far superior musician but just because he decided to do everything himself doesn't take away from mjs talent he just decided to put his foot in everything performance wise not just the music. They are like apples and oranges they just had different styles
ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn blah one was a king at everything and one was a prince lol to each its Own but mj was the whole package and Prince was a great musical snack in one department. People like to say mj was a trend follower well why couldn't he follow the trend he created in the first place music videos, the sound of music ,the way pop was sung in general was changed by mj now every pop song out there is someone trying to repeat what mj created in his music. So in his later years he had every right to update his sound considering that sound was created and influenced by him in the first place. Prince and mj were people who created history. You can't have one without the other period. So to correct you one was a musical prodigy and one was the greatest entertainer \musical genius who ever lived. Also like to add its debatable mj was a better song writer "they don't really care about us" wipes out everything prince ever wrote. Plus Stranger In mascow.
Truth be told most musicians hated Michael Jackson. Slash from guns and Roses who worked with Michael on the song give in to me explained it this way. He said he had never experienced anything like it in his life pure genius and he understood why many musicians hated Michael they simply could not understand how he did what he did. Haters keep on Hating
They were mad he could do everything he did without an instrument and fully from his natural self and was able to achieve a level of creative success know to no one. A sad shame really that other forms of art are disrespected, considered illegitimate and "not good enough" simply because it doesn't involve an instrument. SMH

+GG Pierson Just read an article in london infact it was an interview by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees who was a close friend of Michael. He says in the interview about MJ. The man was so talented it was unreal. He goes on to say the reason Mike stopped recording was because he could not deal with the hate anymore from other so called great musucians. its from his new book. i think it will be released end of the month.
If you really think about it, Prince was in a genre all on his own. He may have written songs for other artists but he almost NEVER did any collaborations. This made him one of the most, if not THE most unique stand-alone artist in modern music history. Paved his own lane throughout his career. He always gave praise to other musicians that he digged (including MJ I’m sure). But his originality was always unadulterated and his inspirations were always internal. Won’t be another like him for a long time.
Two great artists gone too soone, but they have done and give all they have with great passion, respect and honesty down in this earth. their legacy is there and no one can surpass it...they made history.
As an artist and as a man, I think the two of them held mutual respect for one another. My feeling that the entertainment industry saw money to made by presenting them as rivals. There's always more money to made in the sickness as opposed to the cure.
Or perhaps, Prince may have thought the music industry was out to KILL him NEXT, so he was trying to PROTECT himself, by going into hiding. You see FIRST, Tupac was KILLED, and then Tupac's BIGGEST rivalry being 'Biggie Smalls' was KILLED less than 6 months LATER, or within the year. TOO 'SUSPECT' on BOTH artists. But, the REAL TRUTH will NEVER really all the way come out. Just only bits and pieces, to KEEP it like a conspiracy theory, because TOO MANY lives are involved, and oaths have been given.
Bianca Pizzuti Prince respected Michael, but Michael made fun of him behind his back. Despite Michael's success and record breaking record sales, Prince had something he could never have.
Robin Song, What does that have to do with Prince being more musically talented than Michael? You just touched up on something very sensitive. It is no secret to the world that it was Michael that had to face the law twice for his involvement with boys. Whether he actually did anything or not, it was his name involved in that type of sexual behavior, not Prince. The topic is who is more musically talented, not their personal life.
Danielle Rameau. Actually that comment wasn't for you. But lets just make this real quick. There is video of Prince as I described. There was nothing EVER found to prove any of that b.s. concerning Michael. It was all about money in a myriad of ways. Prince was gifted and so was Mike. End of both stories.
He did not hate him they just had the funniest fights LOL Prince was narcissistic and Rick James is crazy he from my city Buffalo,Ny which we call ruff Buff so of course Rick wasn't going for it anyone that's ever visited my city know its always been tension here from the racial division back in the day its multicultural know but still somewhat segregated
That's The Truth!! Prince & Michael Jackson Was Kool!! That's Why Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Are From PRINCE Champ & They Wrote ( Janet Jackson's ) Cobtrol Album!! So How Bad Can PRINCE Be Towards Michael Jackson!! It's The Media.
@Freddie Hankins Wow!! Freddie, I Didn't Not Know That He Fired Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis!! For Leaving His Camp Or Inter Circle 🔵!! By Helping Out An Outsider!! Which Are ( Michaels Jackson Sister ) Janet Jackson 🎶 🎶. Looking At The Musuc Hits That They Both Created For. ( Mrs. Janet Jackson ) That Is. I Know PRINCE, Was Mad When Jimmy Jam 🎸, And Terry Lewis - Found The Right Sound Track & Music For Janet Jackson!! The Album ( Control ) When I Think Of You & What Have You Done For Me Lately!! Made Him Angry 😠 😠.
yep, I agree. his legacy speaks volumes just the way he left. although I was looking forward to seeing what else he was going to do in next stage of his career but will have to wait until I see him again on the other side..rip Prince
@@nickybareau3639, And after 3 good albums from MJ up to 1987 absolute pop crap trying to keep up with the younger artists and unable to and on top of that mimimg like a pro...
Prince wasn't too keen on Quincy Jones. I don't trust this story because no one else is around to back that story up. LaToya Jackson said on CNN THE DAY THE NEWS BROKE that she felt awful about Prince's passing because it was like losing her brother all over again. She had nothing but props to give him in the interview. If he loathed the Jacksons that badly I don't think she would've done that interview. And Prince said it was a healthy rivalry.
I completely agree with you on how funny it is that no one is around to say yay or nay on Quincy's account. I think Quincy still mad Prince skipped out on that We Are The World joint and later didn't sing but offered Q his toostie roll pop! lol😂😁😂😁 Also I'm guessing if what Savannah says is true the re-make is in the vault and why haven't that leaked in all these years?!?!?
He also let her re record Private Joy and we know Prince didn't let his songs be re recorded all willy nilly. Alicia keys got lucky he said he could have sued her for recording How Come U Don't Call Me.
Quincy instigated a beef between them. He used to play Prince albums for MJ to get him going. He said he brought the 1999 album to MJ and kept gushing on and on about it, trying to get MJ's juices flowing. Quincy was angry at Prince later for skipping We Are The World and just contributing a song to the album instead. Prince didn't wanna sing but said he'd play guitar instead. Quincy was pissed. I think Quincy had a secret desire to produce an album for Prince. He once said Prince was a genius but he thinks he works too hard doing everything. Writing, producing, composing, arranging and performing everything himself. Quincy said Prince was taking a bit too much on his shoulders. I'll bet he would've like to see HIS name on a Prince album.
couldnt have worded it better myself. Even the Camille part is a reach. Prince called HIMSELF Camille, referring to his spiritual side during this period.....and him referring to MJ as Camille to me suggests that he saw himself in MJ, and vice versa. Its complimentary if anything.
You have a point, Quincy just wanted to be the only one to produce those two. Prince didnt need him to produce a damn thing for him. Michael was smart to leave Quincy alone also. i'm so dissapointed with quincy for airing not just Michael and Prince's business after they passed , but in the interview he was just throwing everyone under the bridge, it reminded me of Crazy Kanye!!!
There is an interview with Tavis Smiley where he said he was with Prince when Prince found out MJ died. He was rehearsing and sent everyone home that day, and locked himself in his apartment for almost a week. There was definitely a friendly competition. Plus why would he call him Camille considering that was one of his alter egos? ua-cam.com/video/rdg2ImeL-c4/v-deo.html
You forgot to mention that Prince produced and wrote songs for modern day artist behind the scenes. Prince didn't have to collabe with these artist he was in a class all by himself. He was the epitome of genuis and didn't have to apologise for it.
Baba Sillah not necessarily my friend. its fact MJ wanted Prince involved in some way with the project as a whole or if just with the song bad. Prince did not care for the idea, delcined and told MJ he had a hit with or without his help. i read that after they meat to discuss the idea, prince recorded his version of the song and sent MJ the tape the next day. obviously it was never used IF that actually happened....but it does make you wonder.
+A.C. Cordova Don't know where you got that from but Prince said he was sent the demo of "Bad" & declined to record anything off the fact that he didn't wanna neither of them to sing "Your butt is mine" to each other.
Quincy makes Gene Simmons look like a choir boy here. It's so easy to talk junk when the other person is not alive to defend himself - I've seen Prince play Michael Jackson medleys as a tribute to him after he passed in 2009. "It always hurts to lose people you love" is what Prince was quoted as saying following Michael's passing, he left the past in the past and stayed positive. He had many opportunities to slam Michael in the media during his scandals and never took the bait. Why can't Quincy reciprocate the respect? Has he said ANYTHING positive about Prince here? This is shameful and classless in my humble opinion, Prince as short as he was, was the bigger man after all.
Prince told me, himself, that they used to play basketball together, out at Paisley Park. Also, MJ regularly sent Prince direct source videos of Sly Stone and old J5. I was often there when they showed up at the studio.
Doesnt matter if you play someones song, if you disrespect them while they're alive. And in 2004, Prince did mention the trial, in a bad way. Also mentioned his nose in a song
Prince did need others. He didn't do everything by himself. That was a myth. Just like the myth that he played 27 instruments. He played 5 and a MOOG. Prince worked with other musicians and often took credit for their contributions. He had a lot of help. Michael Jackson always collaborated but he wrote several hits by himself. Being a person who does it all is not such a big deal. All of the greats had songs written for them, produced by others and written by others from Frank Sinatra, Elvis, The Beatles and even Madonna. Sometimes, the songs weren't even theirs. Sometimes, they lifted songs and passed them off as their own. Prince was sued by his own sister for U Got The Look lyrics and used a few of his dad's songs for Purple Rain and Michael was notorious for borrowing pieces of other's music for his own, which you can hear in songs like Billie Jean and Wanna Be Startin' Something.
I love the music of Prince. But Quincy Jones has told a different variation of the story regarding Prince and MJ. Originally he said Prince said to them "You don't need me for this, it'll be a hit without me"(regarding "Bad").As for Prince being offended by the whole "You're Butt Is Mine" lyric. I'd like to think Prince was joking with Chris Rock and the media. This is the same guy who wrote "Darling Nikki", "Rasberry Beret", "Little Red Corvette", "Get Off", "Sexy MF", "Cream", "Peach", "Do Me Baby", and "Soft and Wet". Along with the whole "Sugar Walls" song he wrote for Sheena Easton. So I sincerely and highly doubt he'd be offended by that lyric. Overall I think it was just a friendly competition between the two. Both are iconic, contributed massive and legendary status to the world of music, videos, fashion, and pop culture in general. They both literally personified the 80's along with Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, and even Weird Al. In the end there shouldn't be any comparison. They were both amazing artists and I love them both equally. Even saw Michael Jackson live during his World Dangerous Tour when living in Germany. The real tragedy is we never got to see MJ and Prince do a collaboration musically.
34 And you actually believe Prince had a problem w/ that? Now really. After Darling Nikki? You must be kidding. Have some sense of humor, Prince never wanted to tell what happened. And what's wrong w/ MJs history? That he was a tabloid target? Hardly his fault.
Prince did Prince. He wasn't interested with working with rappers too much. He worked with Eve and That's about it. If you listen to Drake and some of these other cats, after awhile, they all sound the same. Prince was too busy, too creative, too talented, to sound the same.
Kendrick Lamar, Chuck D., Common and Doug E. Fresh as well. But yes, he was very particular on who he wanted to work with from the Hip Hop and Rap game.
and completely missed out on his childhood and suffered with mental issues for the rest of his life. Enough said. Both Prince and Michael had abusive fathers and bad childhoods. But at least Prince's father did not exploit his children and force Prince into show business when he was young. I think that's what messed up Michael the most.
Of all the songs performed by Wacko Jacko throughout his career, how many of these "classics" did the gloved one write the lyrics? While under the Motown label, how many songs were produced by the Moonwalker? Is it at possible you can name the instruments played by the "King of Pop"? on any of his albums? MJ sang his ass off on "Got To Be There", but he didn't write the song or the music.
Prince's legacy is great as it is. Prince is a university when it comes 2 music. U can study & learn something new each time u listen. However, let's not 4get that there's so much music in his vault. It's already said that he has enough material in the vault that an album can be released each year 4 an entire CENTURY. There's no telling who he may have collaborated with. 4 the record, he collaborated w/ Eve on "Hot Wit U", Pharrell on "Greatest Romance Ever Sold (remix), Kendrick LaMar on "PretzelBodyLogic (remix) & there's a live version of him & Kendrick as well. He collaborated w/ Gwen Stefani on "So Far, So Pleased". U gotta dig deep because there is a lot of material he released while alive that many people have 2 catch up on.
+allure searles (supergirl) : yeah, I agree. She was. Also check out "Hot wit u" on Prince's "Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic" album that came out in '99-'00 & she has a verse on that song as well.
+Nongoma Ndlovu : "Art Official Age" is a masterpiece in my eyes & has become one of my favorite Prince albums. "Way Back Home" speaks volumes & really impacts me now that he is gone. I really love "Time" on that album too!
5:56 I 😂 so hard my sides hurt. Cannot believe Prince waited outside to run down Michael and Latoya. I tried telling the story to my mom and I couldn’t even finish I was just choking with laughter. 🤣 🤣
I really don't see why people act like you can't admire them both, they are both incredible though I will admit that I gravitated more towards MJ as a kid, and while I still am a huge MJ fan i grew into Princes music when I got older after finally watching Purple Rain for the first time in my 20s.
Prince was a classically trained and extremely strict with his discipline... None of the so called modern day musical icons that Justin mentioned are anywhere near the Musical Mindset of someone like Prince... his legacy is best exactly as it is now.
Jimmy J : I have inside connection with Prince, I knew him and I know some of his band mates. I am a musician who has had the opportunity to have played with Prince. He was not classically trained! His talent was natural.
Billo1281 Thank you Thank you for saying that! Because that’s what Prince was, you just summed it all up! I wonder when will other ppl gonna realize that. MJ was very good at what he did but Prince was a true artist from playing instruments all by himself and being creative with his music. But I love both of them and their music will stand the test of time.
you call quincy "the source"??? the only problem prince ever had with michael was the fact that people would compare them in the first place. in prince's mind (as well as in most musician's minds) his work had a totally different scope artistically than michael. he felt he was leagues above him as a musician. To me there is no question he was clearly right about that, no matter how arrogantly or crazily he went about making his point. quincy saying michael had 10 years more experience than prince shows how incredibly biased he is having been in the michael-camp all his life. michael had experience singing and dancing, yea- prince had already written, produced, and played all instruments on 3 albums by that time. pfff
You need to be naive to compare the 2. MJ was talented musically beyond measure, had style, appeal, and self respect.....prince on the other hand was an instrumentalist with poor rythm. Musically, nothing. Dance moves, an amateur...let us be.honest and give MJ credit.....
@@betsysindani3171 There shouldn't be any comparison because they had different style. Michael Jackson was more of an entertainer than anything. Prince was the real musician between the two.......a master musician. Chaka Khan, Melissa Morgan, Cindy Lauper, Andre Cymone, The Time, Sheila E, Sheena Easton, Sinead O'connor, Aleisha Keys. All made the music charts with songs written and produced by Prince.
lol thanks for posting this. A great reminder of what made them both great and the seemingly sibling rivalry they shared. May both these legends rest easy, with all our love... Always
Quincy jones need to stop though..he know damn well they didn't kill themselves. And Prince did right, Micheal did right..they both left their own, unique legacy..there you go.
Over indulging in things not good for their body is what led to their deaths eventually. That is what he's referring to, so get out ya feelings. Not that hard to understand. 🙄
Considering Quincy and Michael's close relationship, I don't believe you can consider Quincy an unbiased source of information on this rivalry. Of course he's going to paint Prince as the villain.
Don’t believe Quincy. He probably hated. Prince because he couldn’t make any money off of him. Prince was all talent on his own, no need for producers and all that crap. I will forever refer to MJ as Camille 😂
In my opinion, Michael Jackson and Prince are the biggest icons in music history. Ironically, they were the same age, both were Black men, both were from the midwest of the U.S. and both idolized James Brown. Yet, despite those similarities, they couldn't have been more different as musicians and as people. Still, I think it would've been wonderful had the 2 of them had been able to collaborate at least once! Michael Jackson was on the music scene long before Prince. If there hadn't been a Michael Jackson there may have never been a Prince. I believe underneath Prince's spirit of competitiveness lay some insecurity and even jealousy. Had he really wanted to collaborate with Michael, he could've done so on a song other than Bad. It's unfortunate that he chose not to. To date, Michael Jackson remains the top-selling solo artist in the world and was the world's greatest entertainer. He performed before more audiences and received more awards than anyone else in music history. Prince, however, was the greatest musician and most prolific songwriter/composer of ANY era!!!! He was also a dynamic entertainer and he created enough music that will last well into the next millennium. These 2 musicians were the BEST in music history and we'll never see the likes of either of them again!!! They were both musical geniuses that we were fortunate to enjoy simultaneously. I am most grateful to have been influenced by them both and I am a die-hard fan of both!! No one will ever surpass them!!! They are the GREATEST musicians of all time!!!!!
I can believe this. Prince seemed to feel the need to prove himself to others. At times. MJ and prince were both stellar. But apples and oranges they were.
Camille is a character Prince created that was a Lesbian rival of his. "If I was your Girlfriend " was a song performed by her. Prince once said, that Camille was his better self. This was at the Lovesexy, tour here in Detroit, at the Joe Louis arena. Real story
Mister X not exactly true..... Camille WAS a character that Prince created, but its not a lesbian character, its more the dark/evil side of him. As far as the interpretation of IF I WAS YOUR GIRLFRIEND...... it's not a woman singing to another woman, it's a man saying to a woman that he wants a relationship with her as deep as the relationships with her female friends ie, Girlfriends.
Camille was also one of the names Prince called himself. Just like Andre Crabtree, Alexander Nevermind, and Christopher Tracy. The Kid. Pseudonyms. Nom de plumes. He had a plenty.
Michael Jackson's Bad song is/was a diss song to Prince. MJ just let him know in advance. There is no way that song was a "duet" and MJ proved he was Bader than Prince.
Prince collaborated with the great lyricist Chuck D. from Public Enemy. He didn't have to do more than that. It was best how he left his legacy trust me. Prince was one of a kind ,so was Michael. Its hard to believe they are both gone now.
It's funny how jones trying to make Prince the shit starter but according to LA Reid Michael wasn't innocent !! Mike dropped bad Prince drop sign o the times ... Musically sign o the times shitted on bad!!!
Prince didn't need hand outs from him or Q. Listen to Q in a meeting with mike trying to manipulate him into that circle. I think Prince did quite well without all the games. Plus Camille was Prince's thing, he didn't nickname Mike that. Prince even has music on the subject.
+thewatchersuperman Yes, he was insecure, all that talent but the image was too much. He tried too much. I think with his personality he needed a more feminine voice, it just didn't match. Is just like watching Michael with the voice of Barry White lol I think Michael nailed on that aspect. Then again, I think it was Prince who started with the make up. Make up was a thing of the 80's. I think if Prince wouldn't have been so threaten and so much to want to do it all by himself, they would've been good friends, because deep inside they both admired each other.
Prince nor Michael needed to work with new artist to fulfill their legacy but Prince was so creative that, it would have benefitted the new artist more than prince because Prince was the teacher and they were the students! Also, there would have been no way in hell Prince would have lowered his standards to work with a overly cocky arrogant asshole such as Kanye West. Fact is, Prince was cocky and arrogant as well, so that would not have worked out!
kanye is very overly arrogant & cocky. Someone called him a Genius because he can take other peoples songs and make a hit out of it. To me, a musical Genius is someone who can build a song from scratch by playing the instruments themselves, writing the lyrics, and arranging and composing it all into a hit song consistently, and turning around and do it again and again and again and again for 30 years while learning to play 27+ instruments, playing any song without reading music, and writing Hit records for others. That is just the beginning reason of why i would call someone a Genius. I would not call Kanye a Genius for using other peoples music to make a hit record, but i will give credit where credit is due, his first two albums were dope! anything after that is for *the burbs* in which isn't my style.
When kayne west learns how to play 57 instruments and then write his own lyrics and then can wear women boots and still have women faint .. then I'll call kayne a fucking genius until then he needs to check his crazy ass into a hospital.
Quincy Jones nailed it. Prince was a truly great artist but was overly competitive to the point he'd alienate others that wanted to help him. MJ was trying to give some shine when he invited him on stage at the James Brown gig. Anyway, it's all water under the bridge. RIP to great men.
Prince didn't need help! He's collaborated with numerous artist he admired and felt a creative spark. For whatever reason he didn't want to collaborate with Mike, and that's his perogative. Mike collaborated with others as well.
CHA RED I was talking about when Mike asked JB to invite him on stage. Prince was relatively unknown. I agree it was his right to pass on the collaboration years later. I just think it was sad they never worked together. This beef seemed one-sided to me for years and Quincy basically confirmed it.
+Jay SF nahhhhh prince was known 1999 and little red corvette was rising on the charts plus he was in the first wave on mtv of videos with mike ....prince had alittle too much to drink nobody was suspose to know he was there then mike surprises him with that? i would've been upset too ! ..he couldn't decline otherwise his pride would've been defeated i believe mike knew he wasn't prepared
+Jay SF and and it wasn't no beef the only beef was quincy jones mad that prince did it all himself ..prince gave mj shoutouts even defended him in 2000
@HiphopDX I don't usually comment on UA-cam and this is the first video I've seen of yours, but you do a really great job. You balance your screen time and the clips very well and seem passionate, yet composed with your perspective.
Ever since MJ died, Prince played snippets of Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough and I Want You Back in his live shows as a tribute to him. He also told the media to chill out and leave him alone during the huge media circus surrounding him in the early 2000's. Prince dug Michaels music, he just didn't see him as his contemporary. Prince was a musician, songwriter, producer, performer, and an artist like David Bowie.. Michael was a pop star. That's why he "aggressively" played bass in Michaels face. Essentially saying "this is what I can do" - Michael couldn't compete with that.
Lol True but MJ competed in a different way lmfao like performing live in front of 200 thousand people with grown ass men fainting over him..Prince definitely or no damn Bowie couldn't do that. And Michael was a prolific songwriter meaning he had to play an instrument to be able to write the songs he did..my friend the songs in the albums he wrote are now standing in the best selling albums of all time. Who did that? What artist do you know have all his solo albums in the best selling albums of all time? The answer is none. Prince knew that he's the better musician-instrumentalist than MJ all day long but he also knew that hes competing against someone very unique. He knew that he can play all these instruments and still Michael had the edge somehow meaning having that scary worldwide fame he had...Michael was more successful and Prince must of hated that because he knew himself how talented he is and what he can do with instruments. In my opinion they are the greatest things that ever came out of the music industry and set the world on fire...but Prince only set America on fire and few countries in Europe..but Michael set the whole world on fire...that's difference.
Marko Tiano Hey, don't get me wrong, I love MJ.. but Prince is a more talented musician. Michael is the quintessential "pop-star" - Michael was all about image. He was way more successful, for sure, but he had a head start, and had a lot of help. Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad are three of my favourite albums of all time.. but they wouldn't have been what they were without the likes of Quincy Jones, and others. Look at the liner notes.. hundreds of songwriters, producers, composers, arrangers, musicians.. all working to turn those albums into the masterpieces they are. That's what Prince was competing against, all on his own. Michael was really talented, of course.. great voice, great dancing, an impeccable sense of rhythm, but he had a ton of help every since he was a little kid. He was moulded into a pop superstar by his family, and then the producers that took him on. Prince was on his own.
+Euan Hamilton I agree with you..Prince is Prince my favorite musician with Stevie Wonder..as musicians they are not replaceable and are incomparable. Prince was the musician and Michael was the entertainer. Its highly stupid to compare the two because they were both unique. To say Prince was better or MJ was better is crazy cause both of them were at the pinnacle of their greatness. One thing is for sure that they are both gone and took the music with them...the music world will never be the same.
How in the world can you discredit Michael like that saying he isn't a musician when he wrote over 60% of his songs and he even came up the the concepts for a lot of the ones he didn't write like PYT which was changed from his original written version. and anybody who looks at MJ outside of his media portrayal knows Michael wasn't no dang Pop star, he did it all but mostly R&B funk and Soul.
I think MJ should have gone to Prince with nothing, and said "hey lets get together and write, compose and record a track together". Going to him with Bad was probably a little offensive to Prince. Albeit unintended
It was done with negative intention. I am very glad that Prince didn't fall for it. Why would you wanna ask Prince to play such a shitty role at the height of his career. Prince didn't need him. He had already made a name for himself.
Danielle Rameau You're such a stupid ass, it hurts. You're incapable of understanding the timeline, right? THERE WAS NO ROLE WHEN MJ APPROACHED TO PRINCE, then THE SONG WASN'T FINISHED AND RECORDED... The role came months after MJ ALONE finished the song. NO ROLE WAS EVER OFFERED TO PRINCE. Funny how you can't think logically..
Danielle Rameau You are so wrong Michael wanted to do a duet with Prince and give to him the Wesley Snipes character with a larger role they would sing plus they would even do a dance face off and at the end they would embrace and walk together of the set most the defently a popculture changing moment but Prince was so insecure and arrogant that he didn't want to look Bad and got afraid
Pharrell worked on Prince's 1999 R&B song remix for "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold." Eve even rapped on that song too. Prince also performed with Kendrick Lamar recently as well.
Prince helped with a mob deep song too! There's no way you can say that he didn't collab with other artists when he actually has. I vote for Prince all the way on that!
Great video Justin and it would be nice if you could possibly persuade Quincy Jones to re-release the remix that Prince did for Bad then that would be fantastic for both MJ and Prince fans
I have been a Prince and MJ fan since Prince dropped his first album "For you" and since the Jackson 5 dropped their 2nd album "ABC". They're both phenomenal artist in their own right. Prince's career speaks for itself and his legacy will be known for what is was. He will always be knows as Royal Badness. MJ's career also speaks for itself , NO one will ever come close to his dance moves and videos (often imitated but never duplicated) he will always be know as the King of Pop. Both artist have pave the way for future artist. Prince and MJ left this world to soon but, they will never be forgotten.
Prince actually did collaborate with some of his peers (Chuck. D, Gwen Stefani, etc.) But, he didn't really need to. He was his own man, and never really needed outside assistance to make his music.
I always found it strange that they were constantly being compared. MJ was much more popular, successful and influential, and anyone who argues differently is delusional (or an avid Prince fan). Voice/talent are subjective things. This is perhaps why so many people speak of Prince's "unparalleled" talent when arguing that he is the greater of the two. MJ had more global appeal and success and will therefore always be considered greater, and people are just going to have to accept that. Just because you love an artist does not mean they are considered as great as you think they are. It works the same if you dislike an artist. I absolutely hate the Beatles (blasphemy!) but I cannot deny that they are the greatest band of all time. MJ was clearly in a different league to Prince, as evidenced in record sales, awards won, lifetime earnings, fame and popularity.
So an artist's level of greatest is measured by how many albums they sell? How shallow you must be. Classical music is no where near as popular as pop music, but according to your logic, pop music is superior. Sorry, but I can't take you seriously. By the way, talent is absolutely *objective* because it shows musical acumen.
In the 80s this was simply not the case. The purple rain soundtrack was a seismic shift in music and many compared it to Thriller at the time. Of course now we can see the difference but at that time things were much different
Prince was a player first and foremost so after Mike did his thing (dancing and singing and whatnot) why repeat what had just been done? that would've been kinda boring, so he paid homage by playing and showing James what he learned from him, how to conduct a full band and on a whim while playing some JB funk and doing some Mic stand tricks. That performance is brilliant and showed a balance of energy among performers (especially black performers at the time). Bad woulda been corny IMO im glad that collab did not happen lol, plus Prince offered to play on it in response that woulda been a better collab imo. I think Mike admired Prince alot u could hear it in the guitar solo at the beginning of "Why You Wanna Trip On Me" (Then listen to the "When Doves Cry" intro) also the concept of a guitar solo on "Beat It" was said to be inspired by "Little Red Corvette". Prince also offered to write a song in response to not taking the Bad duet "Wouldn't U Love 2 Love Me" which woulda been cool. Funny enough "Camille" was the name of Prince's alter ego that had a slightly higher voice (some times said to be female) check songs like "Scarlet Pussy" "If I was Ur Girlfriend" "Shockadelica"credited to Camille recorded all around the time of that said meeting lol 86-87ish. All in all it was friendly competition and Prince was super competitive especially when they media is pitting two people against each other that did totally different things IMO. There was apparently one last meeting in 97 between the two, the engineers were excused and it was just Mike and Prince, no one knows what went down but apparently they were in there for a few hours (this was after Prince had went independent) I'm assuming he was chatting with Mike about possibly breaking away from a record company as well and run his own shit too like P was about to do (IE distributing his music on the phone & internet since 95) i think there was admiration both ways and media and side people only have pieces. But great thing is ultimately they both left some great music and performances to remember. Peace
First off that wasn't a bass... The was a rythem guitar that was out of tune so prince put that shit down like any real musician would I see mj didn't grab not one instrument..he did what he knew how and that was sing and do the moon walk
+mystapaul And he did that without trying to show out and act ridiculous. There is no way and the world someone can actually give props to Prince for that performance. Come on now.
mystapaul Michael didn't need to pick up an instrument, he wasn't professionally trained in instrumentation. Michael was a dancer, a songwriter, and a far better vocalist than Prince could ever hope to be. You're considered an idiot in the music world if you think all Michael knew how to do was sing and "do the moonwalk."
jam basically! Without Quincy, there would not have been a Thriller album. You could NEVER say that about Prince. They were both great, but Mike was an entertainer and Prince was that and a phenomenal musician!
Wrong. Prince superior musician and performer. The purple one was the greatest live act to hit the stage. Jackson grabbed his crotch and mimed. He also did not know what a guitar was.
@ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn He only lipsynched during the HIStory tour since he was very sick. He did not lipsynch during the Bad and Dangerous tour. If you watch one of his shows, you should know that it's not all crotch grabbing.
Quincy is a liar to an extent. He talks about this meeting on the special edition of bad. And he said that he set up the meeting and prince just said you don't need me to be on the record it will be a hit as it is. There was no rivalry between the two as such, healthy competition but not rivalry other than that fabricated by the media. There's a video of prince doing a live cover of one if Michael jacksons songs and not really changing it. It is interesting to compare both Michael and prince but not musically, in the way the media attacked them, both had surgery, both were lighter at the end of their lives compared to the start. Yet MJ is the wacko for plastic surgery and skin bleaching?
Prince never bleached his skin he was even tone...he lived in Cali for awhile which will explain the darker...not much darker skin tone. I myself am two shades lighter in cold weather and darken in the summer. Michael clearly bleached his skin period!
He bleached his skin...he didn't magically turn white....he bleached his skin to even out the white spots that was forming. You sound ignorant...Michael was several shades lighter than his normal skin tones! He bleached his damn skin to oblivion period! Prince skin tone varied due to lighter makeup at times...and where he lived at times. Black people tend to vary at least two shades depending on the season. My question is how come was the only Jackson with the skin condition....my opinion is that his condition wasn't that damn severe to go ghost white! Loved them both...Prince a little more though😁
+shy Ballard MJ wasn't the only one with the skin condition, look it up on the Internet, I know someone with the condition. Princes skin tone did not very between a couple of tones.
Go back and look at many pictures... He wore lighter make up especially in the Prince and the revolution days...you can see the variation between his face and chest! I guess Prince sister bleached her skin too...cuz she white as a ghost... His mother was very fair and his father was fair too!!! No comparison to what Michael did....Prince wore light make up but no doubt was never brown...always lighter hue! Who else in Michael's family bleached their skin to that extent?
I think Price had mentored a lot of singers and rappers over his career. But I think when he was doing his own albums he wanted to do his own thing and control everything. There could be a lot of collaborations that he did in his vault.I think he's best the way he left it.
I guess I'm the only person on here that feels this fool is talking bad about the dead since both incredible brotha's are not with us...I say this dude should focus on beef involving the living...let these souls rest. What's next he gonna talk about Biggie and Pac?
Because he's a white Racist American , you gonna honestly tell me that a Black man as successful as MJ could get away with child molestation when his entire local government was against him and wanted him killed or in jail, wrecked his house in search criminal evidence wrecked his Mother's house and still couldn't find anything, both accused were proven to be lying very badly and both being con artist. Now I'm not stupid and i know the music biz is very evil but I find this cae to be hard to believe because this country was very much against Mj for the last 20 years of his life and he still came out in innocent. So If you're still on molestation crap either you're a fool or racist ( Which make you a fool)
This is the thing. Prince and Michael more so Prince was very private. If you notice after Prince died. A lot of stories came out from people people he worked with and friends. The same with Michael.
MrNoluv I read the interview and is interesting as it was,I got the impression that Quincy Jones is a bit full of himself! No one can deny his success and I totally agree with everything he said about music today, 95% of the music population don't really learn the craft properly and it does show, it really does but you get the sense that he believes he never did anything that was average and that gets annoying to hear after 3 or 4 times said!
Before Prince died he said that the media blew up the so called rivalry. He has great respect for Michael and even sung one of Michael's songs in a concert.
Yeah he sang a couple
@@happy_clifford He did not actually bring himself to 'SING' any of them.. He played the music and let somebody sing the vocals
baldheadkid yeah that’s right. Thanks man🙏
I believe the media blows things out of proportion, too. If they got along or didn't, It's there business.
@@wilburmcbride8096 Exactly people be getting in other people's business and Quincy is a lying snake waiting until people are dead to talk trash.
I need to hear prince rendition of bad desperately
Agreed!!!
In an interview, Latoya said Prince once asked her out but she turned him down, and maybe Prince took it out on Michael...
mysterymediacorp Oooo imagine if he married his sister and they got married oh my goodness imagine that wedding and family drama
+mysterymediacorp yeah she did say on an Instagram post he came skating up to her at I guess a skating rink and they skated together
Prince did try to hook up with LaToya but it was out of spite it wasn't because he liked her... hahaha.
Both Michael and Prince were Icons PERIOD!!! they opened doors. Trail blazers.
Prince was never ever considered on Michael's level.
Kittie Muffins Nah he's way above
All pop starts from the late 80s to now and even beyond have there roots with the stuff Micheal Jackson and Prince did
Prince may be a legend but I don't like him and his music
MJ's a million times better in every way
Both were Kings. MJ was more popular but i think a lot of people dont realize how greatly talented Prince really was. He was a true musician 🙏🏾
He was good but shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with Michael Jackson. 2 totally different levels and not on MJ's radar any level
@@realamericannegro977 but prince was a composer , musician, and dancer he can stand on his own
@@jennisejones6023 Michael Jackson did all those things too and he flat out eclipses Prince on all levels. I don't even know why you mentioned dancing because that alone tells you they aren't equal.
Musically MJ is not even in the same league with Prince.
@@HP_____ Dancing wise Prince isnt even in the same lane. Same with music videos. Live performances. Sales. See?
Both Prince & Michael Jackson were one of a kind, unique in their own way, truly miss both of them 😔😢
MJ inspired this entire generation
Keep in mind, Quincy Jones is a notorious liar. Take what he says with a grain of salt. Prince isn't here to have a side to the story, so it's null.
Wtf?
i was just about thinking that dude hung on quincy jones every word when jones betrayed MJ after his death and spoke against someone who respected him & never forgot to give jones his flowers
Michael told will iam about prince trying to run him over.
No, I really didn’t know that
“It’s another thing when you hear it from the source.” What is presented hear is not direct from the source. The source would be Prince and Michael not Quincy. How would he know that Prince was waiting to run over Michael and LaToya with a car? Not buying it.
Michael Jackson = Goku (innocent loving, never gives up)
Prince= vegeta( tough. challenger, badass)
junior jackson good analogy
junior jackson well put
junior jackson What's the name for the one who is always full of greed and never satisfied even when they had the best selling album?
junior jackson this is perfect lol
Since Princes gift and craft is leagues above Mike‘s that comparison does not hold up. Also about the innocence of Michael Jackson...ahem.
I think Prince's legacy is as he intended it. Celebrity collaborations for the sake of expanding commercial success was not his style.
Plus Stranger In mascow.
ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn lmao pah lease smh

Adver Carz x
Why would any musician be mad at Mike? Someone has to write the music and play it and it was not going to be MJ.
Two great artists gone too soone, but they have done and give all they have with great passion, respect and honesty down in this earth. their legacy is there and no one can surpass it...they made history.
footage from tavis smiley interview he said that Prince locked himself away for three days when Michael died. so there must have been respect there.
Prince and Rick James had a bigger beef. Rick James hated Prince's guts.
What was Rick's problem? He carved out his own niche and should not have cared about Prince's success.

Prince's legacy does not require Kanye, Kendrick, Jay-Z or anyone else. His place in history is secure.
MJ's legacy is a million times bigger than Princes
@@AC-mp7cx keep lying to yourself.
@@AC-mp7cx others saying your telling lies but I can’t find one in your comment 🤔
PRINCE DID NOT NEED ANYONE ELSE ON HIS MUSIC, HE PRODUCED AND WROTE EVERYTHING AND ALSO PLAYED ALL INSTRUMENTS!
Reginald Styles-Uh you ever heard of The Revolution or New Power Generation?
wendy & lisa helped his ass, A LOT. until he fired them.
Prince wrote some woeful music and songs after the big 80's hits fact!
Dinner With Dolores? Ugh. Most Beautiful Girl in the World? Blaaah!!
Did he do all that shit on purpose, because of his fight with Warner?? Hmm.
Isaiah Ridley It has macho connotations. One up man ship! Prince wasn't going to be second fiddle.
Great comment, although I liked Prince, but Michael Jackson will forever be my number one!!! =)
Looking at MJ's history, yeah I'm with Prince. You aint' singing that line to me and i'm damn sure ain't singing it to you.
34 And you actually believe Prince had a problem w/ that? Now really. After Darling Nikki? You must be kidding. Have some sense of humor, Prince never wanted to tell what happened. And what's wrong w/ MJs history? That he was a tabloid target? Hardly his fault.
@@34blackula MJ's history with the accusations was years away from the recording of bad.

"He wasn't interested with working with RAPPERS too much."
SRK he wuz actually going to do The Game song "My Life" They were both there Prince wuz about to do it wen he hear the game curse he walked out
Oh and funnily enough, Eve worked with Prince on more than 'ONE' song! For someone's who's followed Prince since '78 you're a bit forgetful...
sperrotta91 name the songs
I love them both because they were both geniuses in their own way. A great loss for music! ♥♥ rip MJ and Prince!
I'm glad Prince never collaborated with Kanye. Prince is a real musician.
J R 1000℅
Michael had been putting in work since the age of 9 enough said
and completely missed out on his childhood and suffered with mental issues for the rest of his life.
Michael wrote and co-wrote many songs. Do your research you stupid fuck..
So your immature post is another way of saying you simply don't know.
Do some reserch and come back.
Eve was on the greatest romance ever sold extended remix I didn't know Pharrell was on it too
+allure searles (supergirl) : yeah, I agree. She was. Also check out "Hot wit u" on Prince's "Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic" album that came out in '99-'00 & she has a verse on that song as well.
+allure searles (supergirl) : and yes... On the maxi-single of "Greatest Romance" that came out, There was a Neptunes remix w/ Q-Tip.
+creolefemme1 : True! They've got material with him too. "U make my sun shine" w/ Angie Stone is pretty nice.
+Nongoma Ndlovu : "Art Official Age" is a masterpiece in my eyes & has become one of my favorite Prince albums. "Way Back Home" speaks volumes & really impacts me now that he is gone. I really love "Time" on that album too!

I think Prince would go well with The Roots & Andre 3000
Prince worked with Common, J Dilla, Questlove and others on 'Star *69' from Common's Electric Circus record.
Questlove talked about his shyness in meeting Prince.
Qtip hooked it up, and Questlove stumbled, mumbled...and then he ran off.
It's from his book.
Or Childish Gambino especially in the song “Redbone”
Kendrick would be great with Prince too. Even J Cole.
Justin is honestly the perfect dude for these sort of videos, you're funny guy homie!
Thank you!
Prince had the wrong idea about Michael , he thought he was gay. Your butt is mine , is a line used by street thugs in a fight, not sexual .
You're clearly mistaking him for yourself, butt warrior
That was what was said back in the 80's. It was nothing sexual.
How would you know that?
Where would that be ? Fire Island ? Provincetown ? =D
Prince concerned about the sexual orientation of someone? ajajjajaja yeah right, you really are clever
Prince was the Master of Music… he did it his way!!! It is an honor to have lived in his time…the greatest Musician to ever walk on earth.
Prince don't need anybody his legacy stands on its own.
buttascotchbro1 Micheal too ..
Right on!
Nigga got 2 good songs to me. Hell Phil Colin's had more hits
Truth!!!
That's not the point here jackass
Prince and Michael Jackson had a rivalry but it was competitive, friendly rivalry. This video is BS.
renegade runner so true. Prince respected Michael and said that on many occasions. The media has been trying to drum up beef with them for years.
I really don't see why people act like you can't admire them both, they are both incredible though I will admit that I gravitated more towards MJ as a kid, and while I still am a huge MJ fan i grew into Princes music when I got older after finally watching Purple Rain for the first time in my 20s.
Prince was originally going to be on To Pimp A Butterfly
Prince also had a collab with The Weeknd but he died before they could finish
Quincy Jones is a dirty backstabber! Bringing fellow musicians down when they passed away (and not just Micheal)!
Prince was a classically trained and extremely strict with his discipline... None of the so called modern day musical icons that Justin mentioned are anywhere near the Musical Mindset of someone like Prince... his legacy is best exactly as it is now.
SMF yeah right.
Jimmy J: Prince wasn't classically trained.
even if he understood it, you have no idea if he was classically trained.
Jimmy J : I have inside connection with Prince, I knew him and I know some of his band mates. I am a musician who has had the opportunity to have played with Prince. He was not classically trained! His talent was natural.
Jimmy J maybe Ryan Leslie. He reminds me of Prince, if prince wasn't a cross dressing queen
Prince was a rockstar and a rebel. Way different from Micheal.
I totally agree!!!
Billo1281 They were opposite and some people refuse to acknowledge that
Danielle Rameau Good comment.
Justin Carbon Wrong! What Prince was doing was far more complex.
you call quincy "the source"??? the only problem prince ever had with michael was the fact that people would compare them in the first place. in prince's mind (as well as in most musician's minds) his work had a totally different scope artistically than michael. he felt he was leagues above him as a musician. To me there is no question he was clearly right about that, no matter how arrogantly or crazily he went about making his point. quincy saying michael had 10 years more experience than prince shows how incredibly biased he is having been in the michael-camp all his life. michael had experience singing and dancing, yea- prince had already written, produced, and played all instruments on 3 albums by that time. pfff
Very well said.
Simple and right to the point.
Michael > Prince
Of course he's going to paint Prince as the villain.
word!
Quincy and Michael's relationship didn't end well after bad.
Quincy hasn’t stopped talking shit about Michael. He’s change his narrative on different things as far as Michael goes plenty of times.
Yea no I dont bileve Quincy Jones says

Princes legacy stands as it is. He's a phenomenon , and his music won't fade IMO
Hes not very famous

Prince collaborated with the great lyricist Chuck D. from Public Enemy. He didn't have to do more than that. It was best how he left his legacy trust me. Prince was one of a kind ,so was Michael. Its hard to believe they are both gone now.
Prince didn't need to work with anybody else! He was and is great on his own!
Prince was great on his own. So was Michael!
Michael was a great performer but prince was a real musician and on a different level..

just listened to the podcast-thank you so much for posting a link. that was wonderful.
It sounds like Michael wanted to bring him in but Prince showing off, turned them down.
Prince didn't need hand outs from him or Q. Listen to Q in a meeting with mike trying to manipulate him into that circle. I think Prince did quite well without all the games. Plus Camille was Prince's thing, he didn't nickname Mike that. Prince even has music on the subject.
CHA RED You can't deny the fact that he made a fool of himself on the back of that enormous bodyguard, doing all that..
Yeah lol I loved Prince but he was insecure...very feminine. That's why his memes are so funny...because he's very feminine and extra like a diva.
CHA RED Camille is Prince's female alter ego.
LOL, I agree, Truth
On point!!
You said it well! Prince was a MEGA-talent. I don't know what the f*ck to call Kanye.... Mega-arrogant? Mega-mediocre?
kanye is very overly arrogant & cocky.
+Jay SF and and it wasn't no beef the only beef was quincy jones mad that prince did it all himself ..prince gave mj shoutouts even defended him in 2000
He didn't need Michael Jackson. Or Quincy Jones. Prince was blessed by The Most High God.
+Marko Tiano Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video, I love your wall images. I don't see Rakim. What opinion, what you said here were facts. Great ones at that. Do you ever cover any GO GO?
Thank you! I haven't covered much Go Go honestly. We don't have Ra on the wall either. Even writing that sentence feels blasphemous.
HipHopDX who is that on the wall in the green?

There’s a reason Michael is the King while Prince is... the Prince. I love Prince but he ain’t got shit on MJ!

If you do that you'll be the man for life
I agree
Mike the best Entertainer but prince had better overall talent
Well said!!
Couldn't say it better myself.
In the 80s this was simply not the case. The purple rain soundtrack was a seismic shift in music and many compared it to Thriller at the time. Of course now we can see the difference but at that time things were much different
+ S Brooks Purple Rain never had the reach of Thriller.
Peace
Prince didn't pay homage or show James anything. He couldn't get the bass to work therefore he started to strip shirtless and knock over a lamppost.
First off that wasn't a bass... The was a rythem guitar that was out of tune so prince put that shit down like any real musician would I see mj didn't grab not one instrument..he did what he knew how and that was sing and do the moon walk
Damn, just said the same thing bro. You know your Prince history. Check my comment
Quincy is making up SOME of his story to make it sound more interesting to those who will fall for it.
Prince did work with Janelle Monae though.
Prince did a live collab with Kendrick Lamar its on UA-cam look it up
Team MJ all the way, prince was prince but MJ was king 👑
Prince = king
jam basically! Without Quincy, there would not have been a Thriller album. You could NEVER say that about Prince. They were both great, but Mike was an entertainer and Prince was that and a phenomenal musician!
MJ >> Prince, period 🙄!!
y'all make some amazingly informative videos! I'm mad I'm this late in the game seeing them! awesome work!
Prince was a Superior musician Michael was a superior performer end of story.
What kind of crack are you on?????
Prince is shit....can never come close to mj...y'all on meth
@@chaotickris4646 I agree
+shy Ballard Michael Jackson had a skin condition and prince became noticeably lightly. You sound ignorant saying MJ bleached his skin
Prince you are Outstanding, you are the Greatest. Rest In Peace Genius .
Anastasia Chandler Anastasia Chandler Michael is the greatest*
Omer Farooq That's your opinion. I stated my opinion, don't respond ,it's truly not needed.
Anastasia Chandler Anastasia Chandler damn anastasia "come to me, talk to me, liberate my mind." youre way too damn sexy girl
Lies
Great vid Sir! I subscribed as well. FYI; Prince did collaborate with Kendrick Lamar about 2 years before he passed.
I think Price had mentored a lot of singers and rappers over his career. But I think when he was doing his own albums he wanted to do his own thing and control everything. There could be a lot of collaborations that he did in his vault.I think he's best the way he left it.
Off topic: this dudes skin complexion is amazing. Beautiful
MrNoluv I agree. I mean at the end of the day......let's CELEBRATE not INITIATE. They both left a legacy to love, honor, and unlike this dude, respect
This was sooooo good!
