Great project, great execution. Love that you focused on doing with hand tools things that work well when done by hand, but didn't waste time doing by hand steps that can be accomplished more efficiently with machines-essence of hybrid woodworking right there.
Are there far smarter ways to be spending my time right now? Absolutely. Am I going to watch a cool video of a cool dude making a cool spice rack? Yes.
Remember one thing that's not mentioned alot. Some don't know it at all others will think it's common knowledge. But use saws wax. The only places I've found it is Amazon and Menards. It's in a carbord sleeve like the raw buiscuts you get at the grocery store. It will help planes, saws, ect glide alot easier. At Menards a 16 oz for 15$ not many carry it directly and might have to order it.
Great build - neat project, and beautifully shot and edited. Great sound work, also - the changing sound of the coping saw as it worked through the waste made me feel like I was in my shop.
Wow it looked even more beautiful than I initially thought. You acquired some impressive skills! The only thing I‘d not recommend doing, is to push the wood with your bare hands right over the blade. If it slips or breaks, bad things can happen.
Atrocious behavour with the tablesaw, doesn't matter what saw it is. Around 60,000, yes that's sixty thousand "reported" accidents involving circular saw blade injuries per anim in the USA! Best make some jigs man, toggle clamps or whathaveyou, maybe Roy Sutton's old vids might inspire. Stick to European safety regs, look at the reported accident stats compared, it makes sense. 450mm pushsticks, no shorter allowed on the TS, and jigs for the likes of that. Pity I didn't get to watch the rest of the video . Tom
@@dkbuilds Hope to see you getting jigged up for the job anymore. Sutton's videos, well two are available on youtube have some pretty clever but basic stuff. Roy was a proper old skooler from days gone by, and had the ubiquitous missing finger to prove he served his time. He took pride in a clever jig. Except for the loud table saw noises, this was very ASMR-like and relaxing to watch.
