Wood can exhibit weakness or reduced strength due to various factors. Some common reasons for wood to become weak include: Moisture: Wood is highly susceptible to moisture absorption, which can lead to swelling, warping, and decay. When wood absorbs water, it can lose its structural integrity and become weak. Decay: Wood is prone to decay when exposed to fungi, bacteria, or insects that break down its cellular structure. Decay can significantly weaken the wood, making it more brittle and less able to bear loads. Insect infestation: Wood-boring insects such as termites, beetles, and carpenter ants can tunnel through the wood, compromising its strength and structural integrity. Aging: Over time, wood can naturally degrade due to exposure to environmental factors like sunlight, temperature changes, and oxygen. This aging process can cause wood to become weaker and more prone to damage. Knots: Knots are areas where branches grew out of the trunk, creating a localized disruption in the wood grain. Knots can weaken the wood since they often have different density and strength characteristics than the surrounding wood. Defects and damage: Wood can develop defects or sustain damage from impacts, stresses, or improper handling. These defects, such as cracks, splits, or checks, can weaken the wood and compromise its load-bearing capacity. Poor quality or low-density wood: The quality of wood can vary based on factors like the tree species, growth conditions, and harvesting methods. Low-density wood or wood with inherent structural flaws can be weaker than high-quality, dense wood. Improper drying: If wood is not properly dried before use, it may retain moisture, leading to dimensional instability and reduced strength. The internal stresses caused by uneven drying can result in warping, twisting, or cracking, making the wood weaker. It's worth noting that the strength of wood can also depend on its specific species, density, and the direction in which forces are applied. Different types of wood have varying inherent strengths and properties.

Most definitely! He's a big inspiration to me
Plus a variety of RC tools, workbench etc....!
David Manger I went down the same rabbit hole. 3 saws, bench parts on my work table, planes, Trend, glass stones, learning 32 seconds to sharp!! I’m also trying to adopt him 😛
@@rroades Honestly everything I've ever bought directly from Rob, or on Rob's suggestion, has been absolutely amazing. It ain't cheap but you can't find higher quality.
Rick Roades . Funny that......I’ve done the same thing but without the adoption!
Really well made, but the beauty is in the clean use of magnets to hold tools and the saw till. Well done in both design and implementation.
Thanks so much Larry! Magnets are my favorite :D
Just wonderful to watch. Thanks for your time.
Thank you for your time watching the video, Paul! Cheers
I would love to have have the patience to make something so perfect, that is beautiful work sir.
You can do it Brad! I'm glad you liked the build :)
Impressive. It's the small details that makes a great end result. I specially like that you use mainly hand tools and even align the groove in the screws. I just started with woodworking my self and I have many yers left until I come even close to your skills but you're definitely an inspiration to watch. Thanks.
Thank you so much Robert! I had been woodworking maybe 2.5 years when I built this, you can learn a lot in a short time with practice and patience. Good luck and I'm proud to have inspired you!
really nice build and loved the camera work too!
Thanks so much Thunderchild!
That looks awesome! Would bring me happiness just to see it on the wall.
Thanks so much! I smile every time I grab a tool from the cabinet :)
Impressive work. I also appreciate no music and no talking in the video - the way it should be. Well done.
Thank you Rusty! I will keep making videos with this format for sure.
It was inspirational to watch you work on a project with such personal meaning. Thank you for sharing this--it is truly exceptional.
Wow, thank you Charles! Thank you for watching!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this, beautiful build, something I've always wanted to build myself. Well well done
Thanks so much WM! If you build one yourself, let me know how it turns out!
This is amazing to watch, you've got some talent! I loved the amount of hand tool methods you used whilst also utilising faster machinery. You should be very proud of yourself for this work. Get something else uploaded as I'm here waiting!! Awesome job!
Thanks Gavin! More builds are coming soon I promise!
Love the secret compartment for the slide rules. I haven't seen a slide rule since engineering school. And that was a VERY long time ago.
Thanks Bruce!! I love my slide rule!
Outstanding job!!!!! Can't stop watching...
Great, glad you're enjoying it Lemev!
Your telling me every single one of those flat head screws are perfectly horizontal, lol great job man
Hahaha yeah it's a little OCD but damn does it look nice!
I was looking for someone else in the comments to notice that lol!!!!! Beautiful Work!
Very inspirational and satisfying to watch especially at the end where you can see its bespoke made to fit each individual tool of your own. That really made it worthwhile to watch. Also the hours and attention to detail I don't fully appreciate not having really any wood working experience myself should be acknowledged and appreciated (I recently had to fit my own skirting boards so have been researching wood working on UA-cam in its many various forms which led me here eventually). Very well done sir you should be proud!
Thank you so much for the kind words, tigger! Be careful with those skirting boards... soon you will quickly become addicted to woodworking like me 😇 Thank you for watching!
You've earned a subscriber! This is beyond beautiful. I will be copying your design one day. :) Cheers!
Heck yes, welcome to my channel, I am so glad to have you! Please copy the design, and let me know how it turns out!
Stocking that for the first time had to have been extremely satisfying
It sure was! :)
Nice 👍🏻 😎 💪 💯
Thanks Ross!
This is absolutely beautiful! Congratulations for the amazing work, it's such an incredible cabinet. Love the tribute you paid to your grandfather, it's a great way to honor him. I just subscribed to your channel, best wishes from Brazil!
You rock, thanks so much Jessica! And thanks for subscribing! Cheers from the USA
The perfection is almost enough to make a grown man cry
