    You know how Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, makes a motion with her hand, towards her heart: " I gave thee mine before thou didst request it-" that is how I felt, still, will always feel when I see his face, hear his rich voice- and yes it is sexual, why not! Much older, who cares- and he is right about marriage- I am married and mostly happy but words of his often echo in my head... It isn't what youth are told especially the jazz about "completion" of self- and not for the weak, I think Leonard thought that also- Thanks for posting. Namaste from I wish I'd Been a Muse of Leonard Cohen's

    ah man such a shame i couldnt hear the actual interview; what i could make out seemed pretty clever and well put together
    and of course Cohen being himself and just breathing poetry like it's nothing

    Wow! How exciting... I just wish you had English subtitles as those of us who do not speak German, cannot make out Leonard's voice beneath sound level of the German narration.

      Oh, there are subtitles. They are hilarious. Reminds me of when my brother-in-law had a very early version of software that coverts speech to writing. My sister recited some Shakespeare. I never knew Blackburn was mentioned in Shakespeare. It was in that translation. An example of the subtitles to the video:
      Frankly, it made more sense in German.

    The splitting of the song in 2 is terrible! You should have it re-edited (if you cannot do it yourself) putting the interview at the end!

    Yes please add English - frau and Blake, are all I can understand and Leonard was expressing so much more probably about vilified Suzanne Elrod- of all the biographies written the "so called TRUTH" how I wish she, the mother of his children would speak. Nothing she could make me not desire him and live for his words and music but as a sufferer of depression, a victim of sex abuse ( Leonard would pulverize the creep, since he used 1 of his books to " groom me ") - Namaste off to rehab...

    • @jaytuck

      Yes, I interviewed Leonard Cohen twice in Hamburg. Unfortunately, the original track with the English has been lost over the years. If you page down a little here, you can see other interviews I did with Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol and many others.

  • @cheri7054
    @cheri7054 5 років тому +3

    Seems when he sings he always closes his eyes. Is he shameful, is he just going inward or just lonely depressed or he feels he's a terrible singer. He's made comments about the fact that he can't sing.

    • @absolving
      @absolving 4 роки тому

      I know a singer called Willy Vlautin who has a similar singing voice, he too closes his eyes when he sings. Could be a self conscious thing

    • @jaytuck
      @jaytuck  4 роки тому +2

      Don't be infuriated ! This interview was recorded exclusively for NDR German Television, and translated into the native language of the viewers. When I salvaged this, the original mag track had been destroyed. So be glad - with me - that we could at least save this much.
