The Voice, I could listen to him speak /sing for hours.
I always thank Jennifer Warnes for making her wonderful album of Leonard’s songs “Famous Blue Raincoat”. She brought Leonard’s songs to generation x and opened the door for us all to walk through to Leonard himself.
I saw him on his comeback tour in Stockholm, incredible.
I discovered Leonard in 1989 when he popped up on Austin City Limits. I was hooked then and there. I read Beautiful Losers and was greatly impressed. I got see him in 1993 and by chance walked with him to his tour bus
Damn lucky great memories for u ! ❤😊
I LOVE THIS. PLEASE MAKE MORE STUFF LIKE THIS
I had this beautiful book of Leonard's poetry from the 70's and I left it on a Tokyo subway. Broke my heart....
Joey Levenson You left someone else a chance to learn about Leonard. Feel honoured.
Awesome way to look at it.

Such genius lyrics, the best. up there with townes van zandt. rest in peace
I love him♥️
I'm new to Mr. Cohen. Discovered him sadly, right after he'd passed away. But he is like a drug to me...Or maybe a medicine? At any rate Can't Believe what I've been Missing!! Massive respect and awe for this lovely, lovely man! And the more I hear him, and learn of him, the greater the Absolute Awe!! Rest in Peace and Love, Mr. Cohen. And ....Thank You.
That woman who described him as her little black dress...very moving and vivid idea...
a real idiocy

❤most AUNIST man i came across!!❤ LEONARD CHONE.
I got into Leonard in 1990 when I was14 after seeing Pump up the volume, I got into Ian and the Bunnymen in late 93 and been a dedicated fan since. I would'nt worry about praise for Mac yet, he hasn't been making music for near 50 years. And you also have to take into account how many people Mac shredded in the press over the years, he may have been 'joking' but he definately burned a lot of bridges. He'll always have us diehard fans who allways want better for him,but it's really up to him
Good ol Leonard, rest in peace buddy, enjoy the next part of your journey.
.
He helped me through my breast cancer journey.
I really do not get this 'godfather of gloom' & "Morose Lyrics' bit-most of Leonard Cohen's lyrics are about beautiful women, contemplation of life, Sex, Beauty, his poetic sensibility is rare in these Barbarous times. It seems to me people who have NO poetic understanding, or subtlety at all say these things-it is profoundly irritating.
Right you are.
You don’t have to be a poet to understand LC’s songs. Everyone who has gone through things like him understands. What one does not experience, one cannot even understand. But even if someone doesn’t understand exactly what their songs are about, everyone can sense it because it’s about the difficulties of life. This is what everyone experiences one way or another in their lives.
“Hell, I could do that!” Said everyone after listening to him read his poetry, or him sing a song. And that should tell you just what a genius he is. Only the best, most talented, dedicated, deliberate, did I say talented, author, singer, writer, athlete, owner, manager can elicit that kind of response after people watch or hear them. They make it look so easy, and natural that of course anybody could do this. Now, first they try, then they cry, give it up and try to find something else that’s easier to do with their life.
beautiful comment. that's it
Nick Cave looks very young and like he never ever touch H.
Anyways, great upload.
respect
Other musicians not mentioned here , probably due to bad research are JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, Kurdt Cobain and Andrew Eldritch (The Sister of Mercy )
'The Godfather of gloom'? Good to see the BBC in the hands of such astute people
The BBC has descended into cheap gimmicks, fallen from the worldwide mantle of Greatness it owned. And if anything, it's respect has descended further since this.
I listened to ian McCulloch in "Lover lover lover", he is certainly good but the voice of the young Leonard was more velvety and there was a greater sensitivity. (maybe because he wrote it?)
Only the 1968 Album was from Leonard was a Doctor from Vienna
LEONARD CHOEN 🙏🎇🏆💯👍
The BBC doesn't get him at all.
Pinheads
@Montréal 🇨🇦...SAD little human, what did he do for his HOMELESS muse, Suzanne ?🙄😤🤬
Im surprised Morrissey doesnt like Cohen. They tackle similar themes.
dean b Moz is a part-time dickhead when it comes to other musicians.
@@MrUndersolo Go take a selfie!
Interesting to watch how the mediocre react to genius.
Rufus Wainwright is a genius as well and he is commenting in this video.
...he is the commander ...just honest...
*****
Who's Nick Cave?
FirstUsedBooks So you're saying that Ian McCulloch, a far better singer and musician than Cohen is mediocre?
Yes, and he's not "far better" at anything.
Very general and inaccurate.
If you want to experience Leonard Cohen's life, legacy, truth and beauty, skip this clueless BBC bullshit and go here instead: ua-cam.com/video/vKWHYMVRAhI/v-deo.html (It ain't mine.) You'll be glad you did. Eleven fascinating installments that appreciate this man's transcendent influence.
SEXYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Another terrible, trivilialising, cliched documentary from the BBC. How the mighty are fallen. There is so much self deprecating humour in Cohen. Calling him a doom monger is just idiotic.
Who is the sunglasses guy who says “ makes me shiver”?
