    Wow....you guys knock me!!!! You burn fire from 2 arts....music and military! You also sound like clean progressive souls!!! Glad I stumbled onto this page!
    PS - I grew up in NY..... was 16 in 1966....hung out on McDougal St and during April that year, got to see Jimmy Hendrix every night for a week at the small club - Cafe Wha!
    I got to know him and on 3 occasions we had coffee a few blocks away, at Cafe Dante (both Cafe Wha and Cafe Dante still active as of April 2021).
    I remember clearly the night he said that 2 English guys came in to Cafe Wha....saw him play and decided to take him to England.
    I returned to High School and forgot about McDougal St.
    A year later , 1967, I was listening to fm radio and heard a song 'Purple Haze'. I went to a local record store and ordered the record.
    When it came in I looked at the LP cover. Immediatley I knew it was him!!! 'Are You Experienced' by the Jimi Hendrix Experience went to the top of the world!!!!
    He went, in 1 short year, from making $3 a night at Cafe Wha to $50000 a night!! After Woodstock Jimi could get $200000 in any spot on earth! Unbelievable innovative artist and person!!!

    • @eurostarnamastar3128
      @eurostarnamastar3128 3 роки тому +1

      Can't believe I got to know him on those 3 visits to Cafe Dante. One afternoon I saw him talking to Bob Dylan on the corner of West 4th Street. I had forgotten about these incidences for years but about 7 years ago memories started resurfacing! Glad I lived in that era....and alive to talk about it!!!!!!

    Respect and pride for your service in our military. Thanks for your enlightening musical history. Jimi, Eddie and Ernie are three great AA guitarists. Please consider AA guitar pioneer Chuck Berry ( the real King of Rock and Roll), as an influence on the previous guitarists mentioned and the root of an entire genre of music. Please also consider making listening aware of the music of Gary Clark Jr., current Blues artist.

    GREAT list of guitarists. Jimi Hendrix influenced every single modern guitarist, ranging from shred to Jazz and from Néo-Soul to classical. The JIMI deeply influenced his Purple and Fab Beatle majesties and gave them their royal charters to achieve their genius : His Royal Highness Prince and Abfab Beatle George Harrison. 'Nuff said. Eddie Hazel provided the Warp Drive for you-know-who's Mutha Ship. Ernie Isley is the Brother who rewired the Isley to multigenerational relevance and greatness.

    I’ve been listening to Eddie Jimi and Ernie since I was about 10 years old. What I’ve noticed over the years is these guys got soul you can feel them. A lot of the new guys are good but they seem to lack that kinda funky soul thing. Also for me you army guys in your band have definitely got all of that. That is probably the best ever tribute I’ve heard. Thank you. I’m still funky I’m 68 now. Hey I play bass give me s shout man I’m looking for a new band. Ha ha. Cheers Derek
