@Random UA-cam Channel - Can't remember where I read about it but some of the speculation after his death was that he was moving towards jazz. Don't know about that but the slow music he was playing after the Star Spangled Banner in the Woodstock movie might be an example. Anecdotally, in the eighties I worked at a Seattle post office and his dad's work I.D. badge came through the mail stream. He was working as a dish washer in a downtown Seattle hotel.
I too saw Jimi at that venue!...He was so great that night, remember? He even conjured up a thunderstorm outside of the Coliseum....earlier in that day, May 23, 1969--a record hot day had recorded...90 degrees...and that record stood for nearly 50 years. What an evening!...so sad, that no tapes of that performance have shown up, even though there were over 12,000 fans there!

@@OMTV-vu9zx It's a valid remark. Playing rock is like swimming in a swimming pool. Playing jazz is like swimming in an ocean. Jimi was a child compared to Joe Pass and Wes Montgomery.
Interesting to note that 48 years ago Hendrix made an artistic statement political with his Woodstock national anthem. It sparked controversy for the first time then, as we're seeing now in the NFL. Jimi was such a trailblazer and one of America's greatest citizens.
One evening, in Hawaii, Jimi leaned over the stage, while strapping on his Strat, and said to a friend--" Now you will find out why they think I am a God!"...wonder what he was smoking that night!

The reason Michael Jeffery was unusually out in the open and right over Jimi's shoulder in this rare news conference is because Michael was a British Intelligence agent and needed to be right on top of Jimi when he was getting involved in a Harlem black community show in September 1969...There was an undocumented cold war going on between Jimi and Jeffery at this time because Jimi was trying to work Jeffery out of the management...Jeffery was using Intelligence tactics to combat it and Jimi was kidnapped by some guys from the mafia's Salvation Club a few days after this show to send a message to him from Jeffery...That Judas over Jimi's shoulder would murder Jimi a year later after Jimi finally fired him after he realized Jeffery had poisoned Billy Cox with bad acid in order to force Noel Redding back in to the band..Jimi was no fool...He knew what was happening...He fired Jeffery 12 hours before his mysterious death with everyone lying...
Just your opinion, nothing proven at all! And Jeffery himself bought the farm, in March 1973, on that airplane collision over France...was THAT also a CIA thing?...lol.

My dad bought a brand new Camaro Z 28 for 2900 back in 1968 he also bought a brand new fender Stratocaster for 325 bucks it seems things are better back then in the 1960s except for the war in Vietnam
That was really nice. First time seeing and hearing him speak. I thought he was a kind, loving, sensitive, soul now I'm convinced. He didnt have a rats ass of surviving long term in this world. "Pardon?" Something that I always forget about Jimi when I watch or hear him play is how shy and reserved and even uncomfortable he could be without his guitar. He says "I'm not sure" or "I don't know" so many times, and he even seems bothered or annoyed by answering questions. Not that it's written in stone, but sometimes with big stage presences you get a lot of confidence or personality everywhere else in their life too. IMHO, it seems Jimi wasn't like that at all; he was a quiet, reserved, easy going kind of drifter type, happiest to stay out of the spotlight, go with the flow and just vibe with people. But put a guitar in his hands and he became a colossus who knew EXACTLY what he was he doing and how it should be done.

I wonder if he picked up the constant 'you know's' from living in England at the time.
Saw Jimi at the Seattle Center Coliseum. I got drafted in 1969. Read about him dying while I was overseas. Been missing him ever since.
Same here. I was in bootcamp when I heard about Jimi dying in London....Later while in the service we were blown away by All along the Watch tower.
@@d.martin7692 I worked at the Post office in Seattle, during the 80s and 90s...and one day, a check, in a partially torn envelope, showed that Mr. Hendrix had received a huge sum of money from profits from the record companies!..We carefully repaired the torn envelope, and sent it on it's way. Mr. Hendrix lived a good life, thanks to his talented son!
Jimi the man my dad freaking loved this man to he had every jimi memorabilia it's a damn shame he never got to live a full happy life he was way to young he would be a great mentor for artists today
A lot of people are inspired by his music.
Every interview i saw he is as humble as he is deep and very intelligent and all this full of kindness and open mind...amazing men..!!!
Such good energy, that's what makes him the greatest
Nobody could truly stop Jimi besides himself...his mindset was truly on another level. So inspiring. Forever with love brother Hendrix!
4:45 deep deep deep... people like this man are out of this world. His lyrics reflected that. He was here to experience, also teach then leave. 🙏🏽
Spoken like a true gentleman that’s what jimi was kind gentle and humble. He was just warming up imagine what he would have done if he had more time on earth
Out of All the interviews I've ever seen with Jimi Hendrix I never once saw him get upset or angry, jimis soul was a peaceful one that's for sure.
Yeah, that's when cameras are on. That's not what his friends, women, and eyewitnesses said.

Never seen this before! Jimi comes over as a serene statesman.
Wish he stuck with us for a while longer.
JIMI WAS A KIND SOUL. HE'S STILL MISSED AFTER ALL THESE YEARS
I don't know how to explain Hendrix. He was a proud black man, he could talk about MLK and the injustices of racism faced by black people, and yet he was so above black or white. He was an individual of such substance that I cry when I watch these videos and realize how short his creative moment was. Damn.
also his manager didn't want him to be politically involved
@@rogermichou8654 So Jimmy was a slave to the whims of his manager?
@@yellowburger his cash cow basically, his manager was in debt and had Jimi go from show to show without any breaks, physically and mentally draining him and then his manager would have the money sent off shore so that he could use it all for himself.

@@mathman43 ............. Okay boomer.
Interesting to note that 48 years ago Hendrix made an artistic statement political with his Woodstock national anthem. It sparked controversy for the first time then, as we're seeing now in the NFL. Jimi was such a trailblazer and one of America's greatest citizens.
Painfully shy polite and incomplete without his guitar.. but a super hero some kind of God or musical demon with his guitar..
One evening, in Hawaii, Jimi leaned over the stage, while strapping on his Strat, and said to a friend--" Now you will find out why they think I am a God!"...wonder what he was smoking that night!
He sounds pretty damn intelligent here.
Actually Jimi was very intelligent, he thought a lot and read a lot a stuff, he was concerned for the future of the world which he could see was heading down a sink hole, Jimi loved people and he spoke with manners and respect ^^^@J. Grantham -

Jimi and Clapton were buddies.
Congratulations......the dumbest goddamn statement .....
Just your opinion, nothing proven at all! And Jeffery himself bought the farm, in March 1973, on that airplane collision over France...was THAT also a CIA thing?...lol.
Jimi slapped me five at providence civic arena I was 14. Seen him 4 times, Framingham music circus, Boston gardens twice and providence RI. My man.

my dad was into corvettes and camaros during the late 70s/early 80s. he then got away from it due to having kids and being a working squid. a 1968 SS/RS camaro sat in our garage until the divorce when i was 18. i wish we fixed it up together over the years. cue the Cats in the Cradle song.......
he sold a 58 corvette to a dealer and its still ina dealership in kansas. i remember feeling how hot the side pipes were on a dark green 67 convertible corvette. i was maybe 8 but still remember that car. he was far from rich, but back then you could have those cars.
still blabbing, my dad inverviewed to work directly for Rumsfeld at Searle pharma company. luckily someone else beat him to it. if my dad got it he would have been much more narcissistic then he is lol.
He was very poor in Seattle. Dirt poor and shy as hell.
My dad bought a brand new Camaro Z 28 for 2900 back in 1968 he also bought a brand new fender Stratocaster for 325 bucks it seems things are better back then in the 1960s except for the war in Vietnam
It's hard to believe that Jimi has been gone for more than 50 years. God bless your soul Jimi Hendrix. You are deeply missed.
Jimi Hendrix. A beauty. An inspiration. A true legend.
That was really nice. First time seeing and hearing him speak. I thought he was a kind, loving, sensitive, soul now I'm convinced. He didnt have a rats ass of surviving long term in this world. So sad. Same with Janis she once stated she made love to thousands singing and she went home alone. Alot of musicians have bit the dust. Oh and Prince, i think they cared more about giving to their fans than they did about themselves.RIP all the musians who have ended in such an emotional place they couldn't survive. And woe to those who joined in the madness and didn't care enough to help them the cold callused hearts. Probably money grubbers.
JAMES MARSHALL HENDRIX (November 27th, 1942 - September 18th, 1970). I was seventeen years old when Jimi left us. Fortunately, I was able to catch him on "The Dick Cavett Show" on ABC-TV, long before its availability commercially on VHS and DVD. Jimi will be gone for forty-seven years this year on September 18th. Six albums were released during his lifetime: ARE YOU EXPERIENCED?, AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE, ELECTRIC LADYLAND, THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE SMASH HITS, BAND OF GYPSYS and HISTORIC PERFORMANCES RECORDED AT THE MONTEREY INTERNATIONAL POP FESTIVAL: THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE/OTIS REDDING. I bought all six LPs during Jimi's lifetime...I still have them, today! In near mint condition!!!

I know someone who played in a band with Mitch Mitchell for a year and he asked him about Jimi and he confirmed he was a beautiful soul. Mitch said is he was talking to a guitar player who couldn't afford a good guitar Jimi would give him one of his.
What a darling man he was. Jimi was actually quite shy and introverted. Jimi's gone because nobody had his back. Why didn't anybody EVER ask him if he was OKAY? How are you feeling? Jimi didn't have one single loyal friend, not ONE. We ALL need somebody we call can at 3-4 in the morn when we feelin blue. Beautiful man.....

@@wilbertkendal2524 Sad, that so few Blacks accepted him, in his lifetime. They preferred James Brown!
@@curbozerboomer1773 Many blacks back in the 60's were preoccupied with Motown and Harmony and did not appreciate Jimi in his early career. It was only later that blacks appreciated Hendrix's greatness and one of there own.
This man wasn't the constant 24/7 stoner that the media made him out to be, he most certainly doesn't appear that way here at all.
Of course he wasn't but Black men in that time had to have a nevetive white opinion to bring as much hatred to them as possible. They like to say he died of an overdose when his autompsy says he had minimal drug intoxication. He threw up in his sleep just like momma cass and that is what it says on his death certificate. It is traditional american to call him a addict when he never ever had a drug issue. Sleeping pill and some red wine is all they found.
He saw smackheads in the music business and he avoided the major things like that. Speed sleeping pills and lsd weed. Nothing bad! Glass of wine in system when choked on wine? Media spin.
Worry to government and all questions. What ypu doing next. He was big worry. Likeable and talented.
Those who knew him said that he was usually stoned and smelled like weed - which was hardly unusual for hip people in the 1960s.
@@mitchelllevine5664 That is so untrue of you to say such nonsense. I can say for a fact MOST PEOPLE never saw his take drugs. Eric Claption and Chaz are the only two people who actually said in several interviews they just did not feel he was that deep into what they were doing. That is a fact. The weed sure might be poss but weed in the 1960s you had to smoke five joints to get the effect two hits of well grown stuff these days. You slander his name and you lie.
Respectful and graceful Jimi...unlike today's wandering stars..
Don't agree with the comments treating his death as a tragedy too early and don't think this dude would want pity. He nailed it and lives on as a legend - just enjoy the music he's blessed us with
"Pardon?"
Something that I always forget about Jimi when I watch or hear him play is how shy and reserved and even uncomfortable he could be without his guitar.
This was September 5th,1969......not 1970

I actually like the way this video is presented, how there's a short break (hearing those "rice krispies" pops)in between Hendrix talking. I Love old videos.
A press conference can be very difficult. He's nervous about the questions being misleading
It might've also been because I believe this was either during or after the Toronto drug bust.
