My father didn’t talk to me very much as a child but I will never forget 4 words he said to me. We were in a record store, must’ve been waiting in my mother somewhere else in the mall. Well I was overwhelmed with all the music and couldn’t think of any band to look at. 11 year old me walked to my dad and asked “I can’t think of anyone to look at. Who do you suggest?” He said,” Jimi Hendrix is good!” Thank you dad. The best words you ever spoke to me. I went over to Hendrix’s bin and only picked the one where the artwork grabbed me. I remember it was a close up on Hendrix cuz he was the only thing you could see on stage and he was shining blue from the lights. It was Hendrix Live at Winterland! That was my introduction to a lifetime of listening to the man. I’m 51 and watching this first thing in the morning and Hendrix once again brings a tear to my eye. ✌️
The Tax Free from that album is other worldly guitar playing and you can't hardly find it anywhere. Even on the other Winterlland releases. Smh The Hey Joe is great to! He opens it with a bunch of pull offs then a decending run of notes. The does the open riff kinda palm muted and double picks the notes. I know your lil head was blown lol
Wooooooffff! Live at Winterland is likely the best live recording ever…if any recording. He is on fire…and I’ve heard a lot of Hendrix. Damn he was flying without a net.
So many amazing details in one single video. The horse running, the grumpy kid looking at the camera, people smiles, the dancing, the perfect weather conditions, the quality of the video, the perfection and precision coming from the band and well of course Mr. Hendrix is just a star. His style, bravado, confidence, witt, and just feeling music. Man….. have we lost track of goodness on this earth.
I've seen this many times but just noticed the horse and grumpy kid too. About half the men were shirtless and no one is over weight. The foam on the amp mic too.
The look of amazement in people’s faces is crazy to me. You have to keep in mind that before Jimi no one was doing this with a guitar, to many it was really something out of the ordinary.
I agree with you, indeed Hendrix is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.
I am almost as blown away by the amount (so few) of people in this audience, as I am with (as always) watching Jimi effortlessly do his magic with his guitar. So fluid and effortlessly as he makes music that is so powerful and out of the realm of what had ever existed before or since. Jimi is love personified and his memory will always be there.

Legends never die! no matter how much time passes by, 50 years, 100 years... No one will be able to dethrone this man. He layed the foundation for all rock guitarist.
The truth is, there are many, many people that do, in fact, play just like Jimi today. That's the amount of influence he had on guitar players. Sadly, if Jimi played exactly like he did back then, today, no one would know who he is because people simply don't listen to rock like they used to. When creating an icon, a lot of stars have to align and the time has to be right. Guys like Jimi and Eddie were once in a lifetime players, but today belongs to a different generation that doesn't care much for rock and roll, sadly.
lol He'd be a nobody in his mom's basement playing this today. there's probably 1000's people that can play like this nowaydays. Zero rock bands becoming famous at that level. It's not the most popular form of music right now.
I try to explain this fact to people and they just dont understand, the first 3 albums were recorded by the time he was 25, he had been playing guitar for only 9 fucking years. That is insane. (The first time i understood that i wanted to throw my guitar out the window, still do actually)
For me, it is his groove feeling and his showman capabilities that are really impressive. Technically, a lot of current guitarists are as competent as him, or even better (like Tony Emmanuel, Julian Lage, etc, in another genres). And he was devoted to guitar, so his 10 years of « guitar practicing » are not the same as yours. But he certainly grew up in a musical environment, listening to a lot of (different) music and blues guitarists. That could make a huge difference in the way you perceive things and could lead you to really « internally » hear sounds that you are looking for and that are « melodic » or « groovy ». So yeah, for sure he was « special » and unique. But please do not throw your guitar :), it could take times to develop your musical skills, it is not a competition, be patient, love your musical journey (and nobody has the same), and maybe one day you will feel the stimulus that will connect your brain directly to the instrument 🙏🏻 - at this moment, we will be happy to listen to you playing the guitar even if you are 70 years old
I'd bet he spent more time playing guitar in 12 years than most people do in a lifetime. That's the case with most top guitarists. They live and breath it everyday.
As others have said, film has long exceeded the quality of digital in both color and resolution. It's only been a few years that 8k digital exceeds 35mm film in effective resolution, but there's also 70mm (65mm film). If you wonder how old TV sitcoms from the '70s and '80s are converted to 4k, they're just scanning the original 35mm prints. How else would you release "Gone with the Wind" in 1938? Kids these days 🙄

Good thing jimi stopped by earth to drop some bangers for us
My father didn’t talk to me very much as a child but I will never forget 4 words he said to me. ✌️
Jimi had it all, man.
Style, charisma, panache, delivery, talent, chill, handsome, affable, socially conscious, he just had it all.

If Jimi Hendrix played like this today, he'd be the biggest star! No one plays like this today, or since!

@@gilmour81 Yup agreed about Jimi, and I feel the same way sometimes about the guitar out the window thing too, lol.
And he did it all with just 2 foot pedals, and an effects box with just 3 switches...
