Why do I have the feeling that this is the first thing you see when you enter heaven?
That would the best heaven ever
I truly hope so 🤟
He doesn’t play it, he makes it sing.
That’s because it will be.
Heaven wastes too much film, apparently.
Who’s still here 2024?
Meh
Every year! Yeah!
Are you kidding?? There’s so much noise out there now, it’s shocking to see real talent again! Damn he was amazing
Back home SF 1960s told my parents I had a sleep over with 👧 friends and we hitched to FILLMORE WEST. what a blessing Jimmy Hendrix 🎙🎶🎸.. 4/2024
I'm here but I'm unimpressed to say the least 😢
Jimi Hendrix's unplugged album is locked up at Area 51.

A talent that happens less than once in a generation. Those who saw him live are truly lucky.
Ho visto e sentito solo ora questo video. Nell' agosto del 1970, dopo aver visto Woodstock al cinema, partecipai al mitico Festival all' isola di Wight ed ebbi la fortuna di sentirlo. Pochi giorni dopo morì ...
Yeah but once period. Jimmy was like Beethoven was on the piano. Guitar 🎸 was made for him. Don't wait for another. Ain't gonna happen
Chi l'ha visto dal vivo è molto anziano...
It's not that they are not out there. But they don't get found
Once a lifetime.
What was so scary special about Jimi is he really, honestly didn't see himself as being all that talented. He looked up to a lot of the blues greats without ever realizing that tens of millions of musicians since he passed have "looked up to him. He was really a generational talent. Thank you whoever posted this.
This looks like it was recorded in heaven
Este es el mejor comentario de toda la historia de youtube.
Think it was a band photoshoot cos i watched the voodoo child documentary and he was wearing this with the band and it was a white background not to sure tho

"Don't waste all the film there!"
...he says of a reel of film that will be watched and treasured by millions 5+ decades later...
Almost 10 millions now
Speaks of his humility.
I said too myself you can do it as many times as you like Jimi we're watching here now.
beautiful song, beautiful soul. "humility," yes. love for the brothers ans sisters. If only we had told him how much we loved him, maybe he would've played decades longer. if only someone loved him enough to keep away the vultures....Groupie memoirs recount alot of real asshole rock stars, but jimi: he treated all women with gentleness, kindness.
Did not think of it quite in those words. But I felt that. Thanks for framing for me.
Such a nice guy, been dead 53 yrs, seems like yesterday, and his music just doesn't age. Legend
Wow, all that time has passed in my life but I watch this and I am there, then.
Wow I can't believe he's that old 😲

He's not dead at 27 ?

A hint of what an unplugged concert would have been like with Jimi. Besides the signature guitar work, this shows just how great a singer he was. Love his vocals.

You can see it in his face! He looked oddly vulnerable in that first clip.

The only musician that gave other musicians nervous breakdowns when they watched him, he is a true legend..❤Jimi Hendrix
Clapton almost quit playing. Then he became a huge racist yelling slurs after concerts if he had a few too many lol. So you could say that. When Jimi came to England all the white boy blues guys shat their pants. Some went for envy other simply absorbed everything and became better players themselves.
except Frank Zappa 😁
Clapton became good friends with Jimi. I don't know where you got the racist bs from, but it is a straight up lie. Every musician that played with Jimi loved him, they all got famous from stealing his licks and using them in there music. If you can call that stealing, because there is very little actual "new" music. Ritchie Blackmore tells how everyone in the period were influenced (stole) from Jimi's music. It's pretty incredible when you here it explained by one of the best guitarists of the time.

@@glennjames7107 I remember reading he was playing at a club, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and others were there. Just an ordinary man who possessed a special sense of humor and an ability that possessed the listener. He did wah what he loved, and moved the world of music with it. Jimi.

Not only would have been cool. It would’ve been a peace bomb because you seen the interview with him right after the national anthem where the interview Dick asked him about his music playing. It was as if he wanted him to say something negative so bad, but Jimmy Hendrix just was playing from the heart and it caused the most peace ever, and it seemed as though the interviewer was disappointed by it and said he played great but yet awfully ruining the national anthem whenever in reality that’s what it is

Hey Joe was released as a single on December 16, 1966, marking his first solo release. Hendrix died on September 18, 1970. The world only knew of Jimi Hendrix for 3 years, 9 months, and 2 days before his death. In that time, the man would change the sound of music and inspire countless musicians for generations to come. the reason Jimi said he was "scared to death" was only because Peter Neal (who was making the documentary) told him before they started shooting this section, they only had a few minutes of film left in the camera. (film was expensive even then, people were making films with not much money) The guys were shooting a different film for the band. they asked Jimi if they use the end of the roll of film on him playing an acoustic, which would be different. He had no acoustic guitar with him so one of the guys ran back to his house to get his Zemaitis 12 string acoustic (which at the time were made in London by Tony Zemaitis) just so Jimi could play this piece, he never used this guitar again as it wasn't his. they also had to re-string it because of Jimi being left handed.
Great story
what a save! thank god the cameraman didnt listen to jimi cause we would never have been able to see him perform like this.
You seem to know quite a lot about jimi so, Is it true that because he was left handed, didn't he play the guitar upside down
@@antoinettedresser6446 Yes, he played a right-handed Fender restrung for him. I'm left handed so I checked out what that means. There's a great article with laymen explanations of the significance. If I remember, the strings are reversed so the lengths are different and the tension is different which results in a unique sound. Also, the heights of the magnets in the pickups are reversed so again a unique sound. He adapted and overcame the obstacle of being left-handed.
Jimi did of course play a right handed guitar re strung upside down, left hand Strats were non existent. But he did occasionally for show play a right handed guitar upside down without being restrung with friends. This twelve string is restrung left handed.
But here's the thing that no one ever mentions, Jimi was actually right handed, so it wasn't that tricky for him. He wrote right handed and did everything else like throw right handed.
He's bending the strings because this guitar is tuned down two whole steps to C from standard E.
Man you gotta have strong fingers to bend double strings on the 1st and 2nd fret!
Definitely! This was tuned to C standard so its somewhat easier though.
Key is to drop the tuning which he mostly did. He also did that because he used a hybrid set of strings and to maintain the tension ; an important part of his unique sound which most people ignore.
It's actually not that hard. He's was tuned down 2-3 whole steps so the strings are very loose.
@Mr. Majora He had it for all his Strats for sure. That really made a difference
@@skyent9513 It's 2 steps down in the first song.
I once met Jimi Hendrix in a dream. It was absolutely surreal. We had a conversation, I don’t even quite remember what we talked about, but he signed a Gibson RD for me that I don’t even own irl which was even more surreal. This was at a time when I wasn’t much of a Hendrix fan due to not having taken the time to actually listen to his playing, and after I had that dream I immediately started listening to his stuff and have always felt a connection to the man since then. Wonder what caused him manifest in my dreams.
Lol u mean u dreamt u met Hendrix. Not quite the same thing
What a musical genius he was and such a loss.
One of my favorite things I’ve heard about Jimi Hendrix was how much he practiced. He always had the guitar on him. People who toured with him said it was common to find him in the morning, on the bed, still dressed, bed still made, asleep with the guitar still in his hands. I’ve done that a couple times and remember being so proud the first time I did it. That’s pure passion and dedication. Growing up, whenever I got into something new, if I wasn’t able to do it right off the bat, I would get frustrated and quit. Until high school when I realized that I loved guitar and skating so much, that I have to get good at them no matter what. It wasn’t even a choice. It’s like my soul was telling me this is something I absolutely have to do, something I can’t live without. Those two things taught me how to learn, and that nothing is out of your reach if your willing to make an effort, and put in the time and the work.
@Internet User Barely. I still follow what’s going on the skating world but rarely do anything beyond cruising around my neighborhood.

Great comment man
Lol so original
I agree , if god is black then we finally know what he looks like.
I like that
He was nervous before he played for us from heaven
But he did
Not only was he self taught, but he practiced his guitar moves on a broom before he had his first guitar! Truly a talented man he was.
Raul Martinez he must have taken Robert Johnson a little too literally when he sang, “I believe I’ll dust my broom.”
And was left-handed but only had a right-handed guitar; thus, he learned to play upside down and backwards!
@@kirstendieker8757 Do you know how a famous flute teacher improved the skills of her already professional students? She gave them a leftie. They needed to learn how to play that flute completely from scratch, because both hands switch function. Just like a leftie guitar. All playing habbits went into the dustbin. Learning again, guided by that famous teacher, took them to a higher level. Later, they learned to apply the new ways of playing, to their own instrument. This story was in some master class video.
You might consider playing a leftie, for some years, and see how much you can improve your skills, just because you need a fresh start.
@@voornaam3191 As a flute player myself, I find this fascinating! Thank you for sharing this. Incidentally, my son is planning to study music education and hopes to teach instrumental music in the future. I will pass this technique on to him.
It stands to reason that reversing the orientation of an instrument would require an entire rethinking of technique. Great idea!

He seemed so humble!!!
This video is the moment you realise, true greats are the humble ones.
Given Jimi's supreme gifts it just goes to show how great he truly was, we will never see his like again, sadly.

He recorded loads of music, there is a lot to listen to :)
@@mungus381 I've got all of them!
Maybe some kickin ass new wave with jim Morrison in unlikely industrial disguise???
I suppose another way of looking at it, is if he had lived, Jimi might have slowly faded into obscurity and ended up writing less original ideas etc. His sudden death immortalized his music, because he died at the height of his creativity, a living legend. That caused people to hold very near and dear all his great work. I always had a feeling Jimi's time on earth was to give the world a great catalog of highly original music and once he did that, it was time to 'leave'
The way he transferred the pick to other fingers at 00:27 😮, so smooth like a magician
Good eye! I've watched this a hundred times, never noticed
Jimi executes a nice bit of sleight of hand at 0:27, where the pick suddenly disappears into his palm to free up his fingers. Looks like he's holding it with his ring finger. Very smooth move.
I went back 3 times trying to figure out what he did. I assumed he just threw it on the gound, but when he starts over he has the pick again.
I replayed that a few times cos I found it really impressive
Once in an interview Jimi said that his music was still evolving and he believed that in 10 years he will be thrice as good as he was at that time but sadly two years later he passed away. Imagine if he would have lived till 80 or more what would have been his level of music.
Great things don't last too much, sadly
I could see Jimi learning to shred in the 80s lol
@@johnp.smithasimpleman7281 nah he'd be like Zappa, beyond that
Imagine if he wasn’t born in a time where drugs were so common with rockstars
I think his reach would have been profoundly wide. He was excited by everything. All the stuff he was doing with Buddy Miles could have led anywhere. I can easily see him having done 70s stuff that might be sold as jazz albums. It would have been fascinating to see what a slightly older Jimi made of 70s America and 70s Britain - two increasingly different places. I can easily imagine him travelling and settling for periods all over the world, listening and playing as he went. At 78, he'd probably have orchestral works under his belt as well as collaborations with people like Fela Kuti, maybe some percussive Mediterranean based musical culture whether Arabic or otherwise, lots of concerts. But he would still be a blues guitarist. That would always be there. There's no doubt about that for me.
12 string guitar ain't easy to play, that deserves extra points 😄 Everyone should hear the album "Jimi Hendrix Blues" if they haven't already. These recordings are on it, and many more.

I also smiled at this)
Imagine if the guy in the beginning said no when jimi asked if he could try again.
Jimi was cool on-stsge but not so much off-stage. He was addicted to amphetamines and when he mixed drugs and alcohol (almost daily), he was obnoxious and violent, especially with women. Alcohol, amphetemines, and LSD is a bad mixture. He would skip songs on the song list when he forgot the lyrics.
