Thankfully the real world is much more nuanced than Hollywood stereotypes. From personal experience, I went through school as a scrawny nerd but the jocks were nice protective people while the bullies were other random kids. I was friends with a few jock types, and it was kinda funny admittedly watching them immediately get fat after high school ended.

I get the feeling games are also sort of about character building -- entertainment. If you're stuck in a rut of menial tasks, you begin to feel sort of depressed, or bored.
