+Game Sack wacky races was a great cartoon. it was on USA network all the time. The commercials always showed a bunch of Hanna-Barbera characters riding on a train.
Richard Garrison Yeah we never had cable so maybe that's why. The characters do all look very Hanna-Barbera-ish. Not sure why they went with a Yogi Bear rip-off instead of the actual Yogi Bear though since he is also an HB character.
Game Sack I couldn't tell you why Yogi wasn't really part of it. Maybe it was because he had all of his other buddies like Snagglepuss and Huckleberry Hound. Though I think there was a crossover at one point.
In case you were wondering what the KERS was in F1 Race Stars, its an actual thing in Formula 1. It's a system that stores energy while the vehicle is braking so that it can be used right after a turn to accelerate. The same concept is in hybrid cars and is how they primarily charge the batteries while driving.
DreamcastGuy I actually spent a good week trying to 100% complete the game. Unlocking Dick Dastardly sent me into a chair-destroying rage but it was worth it. Since there's virtually no online information about the game it was like figuring things out like the olden days.
Figured this is kind of a late comment. But I had it on the gameboy color, it was awesome but hard as hell. Surprised they didn't mention it in the video.
+Game Sack it was my first kart game so i didnt have a choice ......i hated the genre up to that point this and a demo of muppets racemania that i had managed to change my mind
Tony Spike Did you like the Muppets game? I think Dave almost included that one. ***** Interesting. Do they activate it the same way by letting go of the throttle on the striped part of the track? :)
+Game Sack The KERS system is a real life speed boost for F! cars. Kinetic energy recovery system. Also there is special areas on each track they set up were F! drivers can activate it.
+Ducksauce the KERS system has nothing to do with kart racing style speed boosting though .....all cars get it on the same parts of the circuit and only for a set period of the track so it offers no real advantages like the speed boost in kart racers does ....if it did it be disallowed by the FIA ......its more of an energy saving system than an actual boon giver
Great episode, here's a list of Kart game for future episode : -Atari Kart (Atari Jaguar) -Croc Mac Rally (Old Mac PC with Mac OS 9.0, also on iOS) -Super Tux Kart (Open-source Kart game based on open source mascot running on multiple PC OS including Windows and Mac) -Garfield Kart (Super shitty on 3DS) -Mod Nation (PS3, Vita, i think you already did it in ep1 ?) Please also make a F-Zero/Wipeout futuristic racing game. Thank you guys.
I second the futuristic/anti grav racers. I love the wipeout games and am always on the look out for similar games. Also try out Astro GoGo. It's a Super Famicom exclusive similar to F-Zero.
This is how you make a request/suggestion, by throwing ideas out there and thanking them there at the end. This is so much nicer to come across in the comments rather than, "You forget my favorite game?! Episode FAIL!!!" Also, I find your suggestions interesting.
I wasn't sure if you were going to cover Wacky Races. To me I thought it was a regular racing game, but thank you for covering it. I enjoyed watching Wacky Races on Cartoon Network back in the day. Kudos to putting your show onto Blu-Ray.
Ever tried Re-Volt? Not sure which version is best, I'm guessing the Dreamcast one. I played it on PC but that's out of the question for you guys. The game doesn't have any karts, but it's a RC racing game with weapons, so I guess it counts
+Doom2Guy A recently dumped Xbox version (originally for Xbox Live Beta testers but later close to completion) came out for modded xboxes. Also the Arcade version has also been dumped & playable on home PCs. Both really good versions.
+Doom2Guy I would argue the PC version, due to the consistent frame rate. The Dreamcast version is great, but chugs when it comes to Clockwork Carnage. To make up for that the console versions did have their own levels and soundtracks, PS1 has that in the bag in terms of Soundtrack. Levels, Dreamcast. Suffice to say the N64 had the best intro theme.
Some Kart Racer recommendations: BC Racers - Sega CD/ 32X Super Tux Kart - PC - This one is free and uses the Linux mascot. But the game works for Windows too Speed Punks - PS1 Atari Karts - Though maybe you guys covered this one? Kirby Air Ride - GameCube
Same, Game Sack is the first thing I watch the minute I wake up every Sunday morning. Game Sack is less of UA-cam gaming channel but more of a religion for me it's by far the best channel on UA-cam.
+Retro Survival right after that 12 hour block of cops and cheaters, and then the 12 hour block of ninja warrior. But yeah, G4 pre 2007 would've been a good home for gamesack.
Omg I watched Wacky Races when I was little on Boomerang and my parents even knew some of the characters cx The characters are from old Hanna-Barbera cartoons I think. Whoever made the Perils of Penology Pitstop and Catch the pigeon
I really liked the powersliding mechanic in CTR. It made the game very skill-based Every time I play another kart racer, I feel like something is missing.
Now that I think about it, Mega Man did have a kart-racing game of his own known as "Mega Man: Battle & Chase" on the Sony PlayStation, which was originally released in Japan only, but it did become playable as an unlockable title in "Mega Man X Collection" on the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube, and I'm hoping you guys will able to cover it in a future episode as well. :)
8 years late but, the piranha plant thingy is actually an enemy that’s appeared since Crash 1. One non-hostile one even makes an appearance in the first Jak game. Great video, I love going back and watching all these.
+Freako I won a PS1 with this game when I was about 12 years old. It was a Speed Freaks Tournament, and after a weekend with the hired game I managed to win! Was pretty stoked. Still think it's one of the better kart games from the era, and I still think it holds up. Graphics were pretty great for the time too.Physics just had a bit more depth to them than your average Mario clone.
chipchip If you look at the environments the amount of detail in speed freaks is unbelievable, so much hidden detail, one of the best looking PS1 games in my opinion.
I got to say, I've always look forward to Sunday at 3am, because I can't sleep and I always fall asleep right after I see the new videos. I suffer from insomnia, so please take it as a compliment, Keep it up!
I have a few suggestions for another episode: Street Racer (SNES / Genesis / PC) by Ubisoft, Moorhuhn Kart, Toy Story Racer (PS1), Star Wars Episode 1 Racer (N64, Dreamcast, Arcade) and Supertuxkart (Very popular open source game)
KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System. It's a mechanism that absorbs energy from the brakes and converts it to electricity to charge a battery (or in some cases a flywheel). The energy is later used to give the car additional power through electric motors.
I believe the closest we ever got to an HD Lego Racers is Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Now, I know that this game is not liked by everyone - mostly because it's not the Banjo-Threeie they were looking for - but personally I think that it's a pretty good game once you get past that. The game looks pretty good (tho the redesign for the characters is so-so), the music references a lot of old tracks from Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie and you get a fair bit of variation with the different missions, ranging from standard races, special time trials and fetch quests to boiling eggs, "car" football and sumo battles. Also, you can build pretty much *anything you want* and use that in most missions - unless they have certain restrictions or require you to use a pre-built vehicle until you pass it for the first time. Ever wanted to use the USS Enterprise in a race? You can do that! A cottage on wheels with flamethrowers and a grenade launcher? Sure, they won't stop you! A massive motorized Pixel Art statue of your favorite video game character? Knock yourself out! A gigantic bike with Monster Truck wheels that's taller than some houses? That one's actually pre-built by RARE for a stunt mission!
Nice ending skit and episode overall! Also, my favorite Kart Racing game is probably Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing on the 360. You guys already covered that many times, though.
Aw, you guys still didn't talk about Mega Man Battle & Chase. It was on the Mega Man X Collection for PS2 since it was originally a PSX titled that hadn't been released outside Japan. It's a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
The whole reason why I watch Game Sack is because you guys often talk about games I've never played, and in some cases never even heard of. I watch Game Sack so that I DON'T see the obvious choices that most other people would talk about. That and you're both hilarious and awesome.
What more can I say about Game Sack that I haven't? You guys make the best video game related show ever! Another stellar episode guys, you make it look easy. After watching this I'm gonna go pick up a racing game.
+Game Sack But that system makes the triple turbo slides system possible, with one button that system is not possible and makes you have boring single turbo slides.
Lego Racers! Remember having loads of fun playing that on the PC, had no idea if my memories were golden or if it actually held up. Gonna hunt it down again thanks to you fine fellas!
You've more than satisfied the majority by giving a full in depth look at Crash Team Racing in your cart racing episode. So, kudos to both of you Joe & Dave.
In F1 Race Stars, the Safety Car is a power-up that when activated, makes the person in first place slow down and can't pass the safety car for a short time and allows everyone behind them a chance to catch up. The thing is, when/if people catch up, they too are stuck in that slowed pace until the Safety Car leaves. It's an interesting, theme-specific catch-up mechanic in a game that also has the ability to turn off rubberbanding AI.
Oh my god, you mentioned that Woody Woodpecker Racing game! I had the PC version when I was a kid, though I had trouble running on it and barely played it. Hearing your thoughts on that game made me regret owning it. If you ever make a Kart Racers 3, here are my suggestions: 1. Walt Disney World Magical Racing Tour 2. Dreamworks Superstar Kartz 3. Crash Nitro Kart. 4. Crash Tag Team Racing 5. Konami Krazy Kartz 6. Mario Kart Super Circut.
So I have an episode suggestion which may sound dumb and people may laugh at but I have small children. Here it goes, could you do an episode about games for smaller children (between ages of like 5-10) or something like that. They don't need educational games or anything like that but something to recommend to parents to play with their kids and so on and so forth.
+Dustin Gibbons It's not a bad idea but I don't think it would be very popular. I think the majority of our viewers don't have children and wouldn't be interested in Eco jr. and other Club SEGA games. I have a 7 year old daughter who likes to play some of those Club SEGA games and games like Castle of Illusion and Mario Kart. We always have fun playing those together.
+Game Sack Dave Thanks for the reply, my 7 year old and I play Mario Kart quite a bit together, never thought about Ecco Jr. I may see how she likes that. We also play Nintendo Land on the Wii U.
FYI KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System and it's a real feature in Formula 1 as the cars brake the system harvests energy from the brakes and recharges batteries on the car giving the driver a boost of power, (approx 80hp), with the push of a button on the wheel.
I watch Game Sack to hear about games I never heard of or missed out on in the past, sounds like some people only want to hear about games they played and liked and nothing else. I'd say watch top 10's if you want to hear nostalgia about crash team racing. Thank you guys for all the great shows that made me buy and play games that I never would have ever tried without you!
No it's really not. And if you're comparing it to the later mario kart games it's not fair. It's like comparing super mario 64 to sonic the hedgehog one.
+CAX 117 CTR is significantly, objectively better than Mario Kart. It has much more gameplay depth, a much more significant and challenging end-game (oxide ghosts) and better unlockables. It also has a much higher difficulty curve without the obscene levels of rubber banding that MK has.
Did you guys know that Mega Man also had his own kart racing game, which was never originally released in the US until it was included as part of "Mega Man X Collection" on the PS2 and Gamecube? ;)
You ain't that good at CTR. You're not power sliding often (the way it's meant to be used) Not knowing the short cuts I can excuse since they are pretty cryptic. But not knowing how to properly power slide isn't.
+Game Sack anyway, it's been a while but I'm pretty sure the floating face tells you how to do it. Also CTR (I think) was the first kart racer to incorporate sliding in that form so it's probably going to be not as good as the sliding in mario kart 8.
KERS: Kinetic Energy Recovery System. Recharges batteries under braking to provide extra power under acceleration later. Used in Formula 1 racing and some high end hyper cars like the P1, 918 Spyder, and LaFerrari.
The "piranha plants" are actually originally from Crash Bandicoot 2 rather than SMB. They also have a cameo in the first Jak & Daxter. Also, I dare you to beat all the N. Oxide time trial ghosts. I've done it, and it's a really fun challenge with an emphasis on the "challenge" part of it. Also, Fighter Roar eventually appeared in Banpresto's more popular property, Super Robot Wars.
Kart racers have become pretty rare now, wouldn't mind seeing some new ones appear. They would be a welcome change from the over abundance of shooters.
SNOWBOARD KIDS on the N64 is one of my all time favorite kart (or snowboard in this case) racers out there! Would love to see that covered by you guys.
Wumpa fruit doesnt increase your speed in CTR (Unless Im very much mistaken) with 10 (the max you can carry, you get them either as random singles on the track or in the lined boxes) you get a more powerful weapon attack (The shiney orange outline) such as homing rockets, instant explosions or DOT. It MAY increase your max speed, but Ive never assumed that, its primary function is for weapons
I think a great topic for a future episode would be top down racers like Power Drive Rally, Overtop, Super Off Road, Motorstorm RC, there are so many great games to choose from! It has to be one of the least covered genres.
Another great episode. Some games I think you should include in the next episode include Star Wars Episode 1 Racer for the 64, Muppets Racing on the Ps1, and DEFINITELY Kirby AirRide on the Gamecube(extremely underrated. It's my favorite kart racer/any racer period)
I have an obscure recommendation for the next Kart Racing episode: S.C.A.R.S It's a late 90s game from Ubisoft (when they were still small) and was released for the PS1 and N64. I recall the controls being a bit iffy but the game is worth it for the level intros and music.
Excellent episode as usual... can't believe there are actually comments like those!!?! If I can give you a suggestion when talking about racing games, it would be great if you could always mention the quality of the A.I. and the support for (local) multiplayer!
Is there a star I can check so that Game Sack videos stay at the top of my feed whenever they release a new episode, and remain above others until i acknowledge it?? Always awesome shows, thanks guys!
+Prophis I subscribed to the channel and UA-cam sends me notifications on my phone whenever they upload a new vid. You need the UA-cam app on your phone. You might wanna google "how to get youtube notifications on phone".
this is the reason why i love to watch gamesack. they often came up with games that i never heard or play before. so if some people get upset just because of you guys didn't mention CTR (or any other games that "popular"), well i think they just can go watch another channel tho. keep up the good work!
You can't argue that ctr copies off Diddie Kong. the developers proudly express the inspiration and the first map made for the game was a recreation of a Diddy Kong map for the sole reason of testing and was quickly removed.
The thing about Wacky Racers is that it's a hanna barbera cartoon born of the same era as stuff like Scooby do and Jabberjaw. lots of reused animation loops between episodes and such to cut costs. I thought Dick Dastardly and Muttley were pretty popular characters. oh well.
Wacky Wheels (MS-DOS, is on Steam), Street Racer (SNES *best version* /Mega Drive/PlayStation, etc.). Glad to see that Lego Racers got some love. I would like to see a new one of those.
I think ModNation Racers is as close as we got to a Lego racer in HD. Which is a neat because the weapon/shield system in that game was awesome as well. You killed me with the outro though. It was fantastic! I was laughing for a minute straight there.
fun CTR fact when you talked about diddy kong racing: a clone of the map "crescent island" was one of the first maps made for the game as proof of concept
Curiously enough, Wacky Races was quite a success in Japan as well under the name Chiki Chiki Machine. I don't think you covered Pac-Man World Rally in the last episode, so there's a suggestion for you. And thanks for bringing that Lego kart game to our attention. It actually looks really fun, I'll try to find it.
Great episode you guys ^_^ Here are a few more you could talk about next time: - Sonic Riders / Zero Gravity / Free Riders (not a "Kart" rcaer per se, but it's still close enough.) - Blur (a unique hybrid between an arcade racer and a kart racer, mostly due to the items) - Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing - Digimon Racing - Cartoon Network Speedway / Racing - Looney Tunes Racing - Street Racer - El Chavo Kart - Atari Karts - DreamWorks Super Star Kartz - Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour - M&M's Kart Racing
Here's an idea for an episode. How about Vehicular Combat Racing games? Or as I had originally thought: Demolition Car games. My favorite is a hidden gem called Cel Damage by Electronic Arts. It's tons of fun with easy controls and very nice, colorful cel shaded graphics. My Cel Damage is for the Game Cube. Other vehicular combat games include Twisted Metal and that other game Joe's having trouble finding a home for (I think Joe mentioned this game in another cart racing episode).
I believe that during CTR (Crash Team Racing) prototype stage, the team built a replica of the "Crescent Island" course from Diddy Kong Racing to test whether a racetrack of the same scope and scale was possible on the PlayStation.
One thing I liked about CTR on the PS1 at the time, at least from a technical standpoint, the wheels are sprites and if you've ever made wheels in 3d they take a tonne of Poly's. Making the wheels sprites is a stroke of Genius freeing up lots of poly's for geometry elsewhere.
I saw a comment for an idea which might make a good episode: cross-over titles - games which combine universes or have a striking number of cameos. Besides fighters and Mario Party it might take more than a few seconds to come up with an interesting list. I only state it here to give more attention to the idea by +The Sword Using Kirby.
Safety car in F1 Race Stars is meant to mimic that of a real F1 race. In the game, it's activated as a weapon and slows everyone down and closes the 12 racers up. You aren't able to overtake behind the safety car in game, either. So it's really just a way of making the race closer, kind of like the lightning bolt in Mario Kart. KERS is another F1 in-joke. In reality it's "Kinetic Energy Recovery System" and it allowed the driver to get a speed boost using energy harvested from braking.
Great episode! If you guys ever do a third kart racer episode, you should really consider covering Snowboard Kids on the Nintendo 64, which is by far one of the best forgotten gems in the entire genre. Seriously, that game can not get enough love and attention. Not only does it combine the absolute best from kart racers, and arcade snowboard games in a fun and deep way, but also provides one of the best soundtracks ever produced. F*ck the sequels though. :) Kindest regards from Sweden
not only did diddy kong racing come before it, it also directly influenced it in a way with naughty dog stating when creating CTR they remade a course from DKR (crescent island) just to see if the ps1 had the chops to handle a couse as complex as the one they re-created, so there you go even naughty dog say they were inspired by the other kart racing kings of that era not that its surprising
I remember having lots of fun with LEGO Racers 2 on PC some years back. I'm actually surprised they didn't make more of those. The movie based games they make now are not bad and they sell well I guess.
Wait wait wait. You've never seen Wacky Races? WTF?!
I may have but it certainly didn't leave an impression if I did.
+Game Sack wacky races was a great cartoon. it was on USA network all the time. The commercials always showed a bunch of Hanna-Barbera characters riding on a train.

This is the first video I have ever seen where people talked about Wacky Racers!! I thought I must have dreamed that acid trip racer haha.
DreamcastGuy I actually spent a good week trying to 100% complete the game. Unlocking Dick Dastardly sent me into a chair-destroying rage but it was worth it. Since there's virtually no online information about the game it was like figuring things out like the olden days.

NO GARFIELD KART RACING?! Unsubbed!1!!1!
;)
Why wasn't this video 25 minutes worth of UA-cam complaints abut the lack of CTR and 0 minutes of review footage? That would have been awesome.
you guys DID get a lot of unessacary shit for ctr .....but it IS a good game
It is pretty good. Still not hugely fond of using two shoulder buttons to slide though.
+Game Sack it was my first kart game so i didnt have a choice ......i hated the genre up to that point
this and a demo of muppets racemania that i had managed to change my mind
Tony Spike
Did you like the Muppets game? I think Dave almost included that one.

Please also make a F-Zero/Wipeout futuristic racing game. Thank you guys.
I second the futuristic/anti grav racers. I love the wipeout games and am always on the look out for similar games.
Also try out Astro GoGo. It's a Super Famicom exclusive similar to F-Zero.
Garfield kart was the shit
I just got a Jag and I really, really want a copy of Atari Karts (or whatever it's called).
This is how you make a request/suggestion, by throwing ideas out there and thanking them there at the end. This is so much nicer to come across in the comments rather than, "You forget my favorite game?! Episode FAIL!!!"
Also, I find your suggestions interesting.
No wipeout? Lol fail video.
Jk, I second that idea.

Plague Doctor If im not mistaken, the PC version has been modded & updated right or can be?
You missed Crash Tag Team Racing. Also, the PS2 version of the Wacky Races game is much better.
The kart race between you two at the end was literally amazing.
There should be a Call of Duty Kart Racing game!!!11 With all the lovely and memorable characters to chose from! Happy new year, Sacks.
Like Dog, Floating Arms, Ghost, Price, Soap, Mason, Shepard, Makrov and Kevin Spacey. Zombie racer and tracks will be DLC.
You need a season pass if you want to play online.
I guess ReVolt counts as a kart racer, it has power ups and small vehicles, check it out if you haven't already :P
I love Re-Volt. Such a good game (Shame that I grew up with the PS1 version xD)
Some Kart Racer recommendations:
BC Racers - Sega CD/ 32X
Super Tux Kart - PC - This one is free and uses the Linux mascot. But the game works for Windows too
Speed Punks - PS1
Atari Karts - Though maybe you guys covered this one?
Kirby Air Ride - GameCube

You guys should try out Chocobo racing for the original Playstation.
*****
Ah,
Well then, I'll go watch that.
Thanks for the heads up.
if you see something has a name of a sequel or says "2" or 3, 4 or any number after 1, then you should google the first one.
8 years late but, the piranha plant thingy is actually an enemy that’s appeared since Crash 1. One non-hostile one even makes an appearance in the first Jak game. Great video, I love going back and watching all these.
Still no Speed Punks/Freaks. :(
+Freako That's my definitive kart racer. So much fun.
+Freako areen't you one of those really good r34 artists?
+Freako Yeah, I came into the episode hoping for it...well, lets hope for a kart racers 3 video from them
+Freako I won a PS1 with this game when I was about 12 years old. It was a Speed Freaks Tournament, and after a weekend with the hired game I managed to win! Was pretty stoked. Happy New Year, Game Sack Maniacs!
+The Froyuken Files Happy New Year!
Happy New Year you Beautiful Bastards!
Always great to see something new from Game Sack.
god, that Wacky Races game was like my favorite video game when i was 8. nostalgia :')
KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System. It's a mechanism that absorbs energy from the brakes and converts it to electricity to charge a battery (or in some cases a flywheel). The energy is later used to give the car additional power through electric motors.
Also, I do believe Shovel Knight runs perfectly on a PS1.
+everybodyhasmine You gotta do the blu ray mod first lol. I think they went back to their buddy to make sure that disc works.
shovel knight is a 1080p game no, it would run very laggy
just tweak the colors and change the quality and it would run on the NES
I never knew they were so many non Mario Kart Kart games. That's why I love Game Sack! They highlight so many games I never would have heard about
Please include "Star Wars Super Bombad Racing" for the PS2 in your next Kart Racers Episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe the closest we ever got to an HD Lego Racers is Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

Finally CTR, the best kart racing game ever!
It's a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
it was on europe too
***** I like saying PSX.
Son of Tiamat
but indeed it was in europe for the psx
*****
IT WAS
***** I believe I mentioned that. It wasn't released outside of Japan originally until later towards the en of the PS2's life.
The whole reason why I watch Game Sack is because you guys often talk about games I've never played, and in some cases never even heard of. I watch Game Sack so that I DON'T see the obvious choices that most other people would talk about. That and you're both hilarious and awesome.
How come this channel only have 143k subscribers? It should have 2 million or more by now.
For CTR, check the meter (bottom right corner) not the smoke. This will make drifting musch easier.
One of the best ending skits hhahaha
What more can I say about Game Sack that I haven't? You guys make the best video game related show ever! Another stellar episode guys, you make it look easy. After watching this I'm gonna go pick up a racing game.
Not liking CTR turbo sliding has hurt many, many feelings including my own. The best players are in a forever lasting turbo boost because of it.
I don't like having to use both the L1 and R1 buttons. If it was just the R1 alone like it should be I would like it much more.
+Game Sack But that system makes the triple turbo slides system possible, with one button that system is not possible and makes you have boring single turbo slides.
Drprophetius
You could do it with releasing the R1 button and tapping it again.
+Game Sack But that would mean you would have to do three jumps in a row and mess your driving.
Drprophetius
I don't think it would. The d-pad or analog stick would still rule overall. You'd just hop.
Dear game sack love your show, only recently found it but I've been watching all sorts of your past videos. Thanks for existing, I love retro games.
Play the old shareware game Wacky Wheels. I loved that game.
+Matthew Graham Was looking for this!
+Matthew Graham They only play console games I believe.
They do play one or two PC games, but mostly on a Windows emulator since they have a Mac.
Lego Racers is one of my favorite kart racers. I would love a modern sequel with licensed characters.
when do you review muppets race mania for the psx ??
+evilsniperNL Thank you good sir for enlightening me on the fact a supposedly competent Muppet's Kart Racer exists.
Lego Racers! Remember having loads of fun playing that on the PC, had no idea if my memories were golden or if it actually held up. Gonna hunt it down again thanks to you fine fellas!
Though not horrible, CTR is the most overrated thing since Boba Fett.
Fucking hate that game and it's fans. They are on par with Clinton voters.
You've more than satisfied the majority by giving a full in depth look at Crash Team Racing in your cart racing episode. So, kudos to both of you Joe & Dave.
I never noticed how much Mario Kart stole from Crash Team Racing untill now
+Ryan Amberger Mario Kart still took elements from CTR.
Really isn't it the other way around?
Nintendo64_Lover there were fun racers before mario kart anyway
In F1 Race Stars, the Safety Car is a power-up that when activated, makes the person in first place slow down and can't pass the safety car for a short time and allows everyone behind them a chance to catch up. The thing is, when/if people catch up, they too are stuck in that slowed pace until the Safety Car leaves. It's an interesting, theme-specific catch-up mechanic in a game that also has the ability to turn off rubberbanding AI.
Joe and Dave are wearing clothes...#episodefail
Oh my god, you mentioned that Woody Woodpecker Racing game! I had the PC version when I was a kid, though I had trouble running on it and barely played it. Hearing your thoughts on that game made me regret owning it.
If you ever make a Kart Racers 3, here are my suggestions:
1. Walt Disney World Magical Racing Tour
2. Dreamworks Superstar Kartz
3. Crash Nitro Kart.
4. Crash Tag Team Racing
5. Konami Krazy Kartz
That also sounds like an opportunity to cover the Sega Pico.
+Dustin Gibbons you're a shitty parent.your kids should be taught fishing or playing outside instead of watching youtube video.
+Dustin Gibbons My 7 old nephew had a lot of fun being the second helper character in Super Mario Galaxy 2. I'd recommend that one.
FYI KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System and it's a real feature in Formula 1 as the cars brake the system harvests energy from the brakes and recharges batteries on the car giving the driver a boost of power, (approx 80hp), with the push of a button on the wheel.
CTR does not copy Diddy Kong Racing. CTR improves it.
CTR was the poor man's Mario Kart.
+Ichigo Kurosaki Agree
+Ichigo Kurosaki Yet I played it alot, CTR simply Mario Kart for PSX
It's actually infinitely better than mario kart 64. Heck mario kart copied a lot of stuff from Ctr.
OK thanks man.
So sad that Joe never grew up with Wacky Races. That was an iconic show.
wow cant believe you included lego racers used to love playing this game round my friends house back in the day
Thanks GameSack. I've had a bad day and I appreciate your weekly videos. I always look forward to them. Thanks as always guys. :)
I am officially calling for more involvement from Jen on the show!!! Either way you guys have a fan for life!
Loved that ending skit! Glad you guys keep up the old Sega vs. Nintendo joke after all this time.
I think a great topic for a future episode would be top down racers like Power Drive Rally, Overtop, Super Off Road, Motorstorm RC, there are so many great games to choose from! It has to be one of the least covered genres.
Another great episode.
Some games I think you should include in the next episode include
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer for the 64,
Muppets Racing on the Ps1,
and DEFINITELY Kirby AirRide on the Gamecube(extremely underrated. It's my favorite kart racer/any racer period)
You guys have some of the best lighting setups on UA-cam. It even looks good in 480p!
Thanks guys keep the sacks coming i really enjoy your critiques and sega/nintendo friendship/rivalry.
Pretty sure this episode has the best ending segment so far. Keep up the good work, guys.
The first new Sack of 2016!
You forgot about Lord Of The Rings Kart Racing Online. Released in 2003 for the CD-I.
Happy 2016 Game Sack! Here's hoping we continue to see some more cool shirts
I have an obscure recommendation for the next Kart Racing episode: S.C.A.R.S
It's a late 90s game from Ubisoft (when they were still small) and was released for the PS1 and N64.
I thought Dick Dastardly and Muttley were pretty popular characters. oh well.
If you wanna take a look at a classic Kart Racing game, then Motor Toon Grand Prix is definitely one to bring up.
I was laughing for a minute straight there.
fun CTR fact when you talked about diddy kong racing: a clone of the map "crescent island" was one of the first maps made for the game as proof of concept
happy new years guys, and awesome episode as always. cant wait for the next one!
I loved that you covered Game Sack Kart Racer as well. ;)
Great episode you guys ^_^
Here are a few more you could talk about next time:
- Sonic Riders / Zero Gravity / Free Riders (not a "Kart" rcaer per se, but it's still close enough.)
- Blur (a unique hybrid between an arcade racer and a kart racer, mostly due to the items)
- Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing
- Digimon Racing
- Cartoon Network Speedway / Racing
- Looney Tunes Racing
- Street Racer
- El Chavo Kart
- Atari Karts
- DreamWorks Super Star Kartz
- Walt Disney World Quest: Magical Racing Tour
- M&M's Kart Racing
WHAT?!?!? No *ATARI KARTS* ?
*_"YOU HAD ONE JOB, GAME SACK!"_*
