+Wyrdwad I haven't played Nayuta since I'm waiting til I have more confidence in my Japanese to play it but Gurumin is really great! It controls well, looks adorable, and has awesome music which is a given for a Falcom game.
I don't know if there are enough 2.5D platformers to justify it but an episode on those would seem like natural step after 3D platformers. Old school game play with new GFX. Love me some 2.5D games !
The way Joe said "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?!" in the post-credits scene almost made me cough up my food in laughter. Also, another great episode Joe and Dave! Keep up the great work! :)
NOOOO, Not like THAAAAAT! I always enjoy Joe's "wrestler" voice, and mixed with the whininess it just puts it over the top. One of the funniest ending skits in a while.
THANK YOU. UA-camrs that finally mention RALLISPORT CHALLENGE. Those two games are my two favorite racing games. I have played Rallisport Challenge 2 more than 3 thousand hours since it came out (I might be exaggerating, but you get the idea).
+AHeroAlmost Heck Dark Eco powers were the most awesome addition to the second game... but instead he talked about the day/night system, like who cared about that? I barely even noticed it back when I played it myself.
Psycho Machinery Jak II may have been a very stark contrast to the bright happy-go-lucky theme I loved about Jak 1, but damn was that game good too, Jak II I mean.
It was such great, to the point i love that game (i never played the first one, sadly) despise the childish graphics... very solid and addictive gameplay imo, tho the race missions were a little frustrating sometimes
+AHeroAlmost I think since Jak 3 didn't get the ratings they really wanted, they've slowed down on them. I don't know why they did racing though =/ beats me. The first and second game were pretty great though.
You hit on two of the main reasons I prefer emulating older games rather than playing them on their original consoles. Being able to save anytime and place you want, and the virtually infinite ways to customize the controls. No more huge distances between checkpoints, or having to buy your saves. No more having camera controls or buttons backwards or mapped in unusual ways. These two points have taken games with deal breaking features and transformed them into enjoyable experiences.
+Dome-Candy Games They mentioned Banjo in one of their videos before, and said the music sucks. One of the things I've strongly disagreed with but everyone has their opinion. (another was that UN Squadron wasn't very good but Joe seemed to change his mind a bit with the recent Arcade/console comparison one)
Pimpalicious1987 Banjo's music is quirky. if you don't like that, you won't like the music. I don't "love" it, but I can regains that it's well composed. I would rather they gone with something more harmonious.
+Pimpalicious1987 Hm, I must have missed that one. I'll have to hunt it down. They think the music sucks??? That's an extraordinary claim. In fact, that's the best part of the sequel IMO. Also, Grant Kirkhope is a friggin genius, but to each his own.
Adam Phillip this was basically a 3D platformer featuring a crocodile. The PS1 and Saturn versions look the same except for the resolution and transparencies issues on Saturn. The graphics still look really good and colorful imo.
Nice seeing you guys at PRGE this year! Thanks for answering my question at the panel! One game that I really enjoyed and would like to see covered in an upcoming episode like this is Tak and the Power of Juju as well as its sequel Tak 2.
+400KrispyKremes oh man, yeah there's a handful to choose from. One of the guys who did the level design for Soul Reaver 1 and 2 was my professor at college. I like the blocking in the newer ones, cool system for combat.
Psycho Machinery yer the Director and lead voice actor died in a car crash. That voice made those games. Sad :( There is the multiplayer shooter in the Legacy of Kain universe, no idea if it's any good
They released the Jak & Daxter Trilogy (or if you're in the states, Jak & Daxter Collection) for the PS3 in 2012. I am not sure if this helps, but if it is the PS2 versions you are looking for I would say your best bet is Amazon.
Hey guys thanks for making this episode. 3D platforming is kinda where gaming started for me. I got an N64 for christmas with Mario 64, and since then it's been one of my favourite type of games. I hope to see more of these
+NickBLeaveIt Well I would call what Sonic and Mario does Platforming since you do jump into platforms and from platforms. Parkour is more about traversing a city to get as fast as possible to a destination.
Okay and here for the feedback... Great video guys, I honestly never got any vibes that you are into 3D platformers, and this video came as a nice surprise. A few games you might want to check out for a future episode are the Ratchet & Clank series for the Playstation console by Insomnic (also my all time favorite video game franchise) and the often overlooked Ty the Tazmanian Tiger series by Krome on the Xbox (also available on PS2 and Gamecube).
+The Obsolete Geek I think Sonic got crappy when they started trying to "tell a story". Sonic 1 was all the story the game needed. Sonic is trying to save his woodland friends from some evil guy who is turning them into robots. It evoked Dr. Seuss like environmental themes and the name Dr. Robotnik was evocative of telling a whole story in just his name. It was great design, even if it was done after-the-fact by the localization team. As soon they started trying to give sonic a cast of relationships, most of the bizarre, the series went downhill. Just another example of detail not necessarily making stories better.
+The Obsolete Geek I couldn't agree with you more. Sonic went downhill when his games went in to 3D. In 3D he controls like he's drunk and running on ice, there are extra characters no one cares about who all have annoying voices and the in-game camera is borderline broken most of the time. Even the 3D Sonic games that fans praise such as Sonic Adventure 2 are terrible compared to other 3D platformers like Crash Bandicoot and Ratchet and Clank.
Hey i bought some cheap ($4) component cables on ebay and now the PS2 looks worse than with composite. Looks nowhere as nice as your game footage. Does the official sony cables look alot better?
Hard to say without knowing which cables you have and other factors. Are you playing in 480p (aka Progressive Scan) on the games that support it? That helps a lot. Sometimes the TV itself kinda sucks with component is well. Lots of variables. But the PS2 video output really isn't that great when it comes down do it and many games just look like ass unless you play them on a standard definition TV.
Yea i have been selecting the progressive scan options in games and it cleans up a little bit. But for some reason it still has alot of pixelation. I have head before that ps2 doesnt look great on HD tvs. Can i ask what you did to make your ps2 footage so crisp?
TheMentalRelapse All we did is run it through a Framemeister that scaled it up and then capture that. It didn't ad any aliasing. I was kind of thinking myself as I was editing this episode how bad the PS2 footage looks. That's just the nature of the PS2 I think. Like with the Jak 2 segment ends and then Ryaman 2 comes on there is a huge difference in clarity. The PS2 has very few anti-aliasing features.
+Game Sack Hmm, never uderstood that, even when new I thought the PS2 had a blurry, washed out look about it. No matter what connection I used? Ahh, Jak N Daxter. I had the first one on PS2, it was amazing at the time, still looks good! It was as impressive to me on the PS2, as Mario 64 had been at the time. It was like THIS, is a next generation game!".
You're in for a treat with the first Jak and Daxter if you like open world exploration titles. You have a more liberated feel than you do with Jak 2 which feels more linear. Also, Jak is silent in the first game which always adds more charm for me. I still gotta work my way through the 3rd game tho.
Future games to cover: Mega Man Legends, Ape Escape, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Ratchet and Clank, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day and many more I can't think of off the top of my head.
+Game Sack Dave Same, I just started playing yesterday, probably one of the most visually stunning games I have ever seen, the games just a standard platformer, but wow, it is gorgeous.
the prince of persia series... I have no idea how you could talk about 3D platforming without mentioning PoP (and, by extension, the not as great Assassin's Creed games)
Should have been named "3D adventure games with platforming included." Especially since my fave 3D platformer wasn't on here, aka Pandemonium 2. Seriously, all these were adventure games. Zelda would have been a contender here :)
i have to go with the crowd and say jumping flash! that episode was cool like always! the rayman segment was funny as hell. it's freaking amazing that you guys put still alive at the end credits i think that song is so good .
YES! Part 2. Mystical Ninja Goemon (N64), Goemon's Great Adventure (N64), Banjo Kazooie (N64), Conkers Bad Fur Day (N64), Okami (PS2), Rayman 3 (PS2), Pacman World (PS2), Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (PS2), Spyro the Dragon Series (PS1), Crash Bandicoot Series (PS1), Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (PS1), Gex 2 & 3 (PS1), Rugrats Search for Reptar (PS1), Bugs Bunny Lost in Time (PS1), Bugs Bunny Time Busters (PS1), Kingsleys Adventure (PS1), 102 Dalmations Puppies to Rescue (PS1), Sly Cooper (PS2), Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom (PS2/GC), Sonic Heroes (PS2/GC), Psychonauts (PS2/Xbox) Ape Escape 1, 2, & 3 (PS1 / PS2), Dogs Life (PS2), The Dog Island (PS2), Epic Mickey 1 & 2 (Wii)
+Pissed Off Video Gamer - I can make out with the flaws of Sonic Adventure 2 and play around/past them. Even though the game hasn't aged well for others, I still managed to have a fun experience even to this day. And even though I played Sonic Adventure 1 really late (after it came out on XBLA), I had fun with that game too.
Glad you highlighted Mirror's Edge for that game is criminally under appreciated. You know if ain't a 3D platformer without Ratchet and Clack, Sly Copper, and Banjo Kazooie. Some I think you should check out are Tonic Trouble, Glover, and Klonoa.
I'm very disappointed in this episode, for the first time in Game Sack do I see not once or twice but several wrong or lacking information about games, what the hell guys? You used to do your research rather well... Sonic Adventure is not the first game to introduce the homing attack that was Sonic 3D Blast, Rayman 2 came out for pretty much every console and the PS2 had skippable cutscsnes with good graphics and even an option to make the characters really talk, the PS1 version did that too but the graphics aren't as good, also Sonic Adventure for the Gamecube and pretty much every other port of the game allowed you to skip the cutscsnes, I just saw many mistakes here that I just can't believe how lazy this video was compared to your other ones. And shame on you, Joe, for being more of a Mario fan than a Sonic fan, how could you? But in all honesty I found both Sonic Adventure titles to be very fun, I may be in the minority here but I absolutely loved Knuckles' stages and the camera never really bothered me in those games, I do hate the camera in Super Mario 64 though tbh. I have to agree about Super Mario Galaxy, I liked both games and they were a huge improvement over Sunshine, but I maybe in the minority here who thinks the first Mario Galaxy was the better one, I dunno. Anyway I recommend you check out "Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider" on the PS1 it's an overlooked platformer that came out after the PS2 was released which explains why, the game is definitely worth checking and if you play it I guarantee you'll see why. Another 3D Platformer I recommend is "Crash Bandicoot: Warped" it's a really solid platformer that played a big part of changing the game industry. Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank are okay, you can also give Pac-Man World 2 and 3 a try, I thought these two were okay, didn't like the first one though. And maybe you can give NiGHTS Journey of Dreams and Belly Hatcher a try, though you already covered these two in previous episodes. There's also Alice Madness Returns though it's more of a horror 3D Platformer.
Thanks for calling us lazy, that's definitely appreciated especially since you have no idea what goes into an episode. I said that by the time the GC version came out that I didn't care any more so why should I have specific information about their cut scenes? Your comment is lazy! :)
Game Sack If my comment was lazy it wouldn't be that long :v Anyway, you guys should learn how to take constructive criticism, I only say that because this is my favorite UA-cam Channel by far and I been waiting for this week's episode since last week so being that disappointed really says a lot. Now I'm guessing you're busy and all with the other shows and conventions you do but let me just say my opinion here, I don't mind to wait weeks or even months to get a good episode from you guys cause it's worth the time and effort, but this episode screams lazy for me, I'm sorry but think about it... Joe only picked games that were already covered in previous episodes, literal, he even didn't bother playing Sonic Adventure 2 again and used his save file which I can understand why he did that but I was hoping he would because quite honestly the story is the biggest flaw in Sonic Adventure 2 and that's coming from someone who thinks this is the best game ever made. As for Dave aside from Jack and Daxter I'm highly questioning the choices he made for this episode, these games may control like a platformer but do they really qualify for the genre? At this method we should count games like Contra and Tomb Raider as platformers, they sure play like ones but do game sites really lapel them as ones? Guys, I really love this channel, but I can't help but feel that this was the laziest and most disappointing episode I have seen, opinions are opinions, but that's just mine so excuse me if I'm being harsh here, I know you can do better and I'm hoping next week we see an improvement.
+juice hedgehog Congratulations on letting them know that cutscenes are skippable in later ports, when they are talking about the originals. Seriously, who cares? And Sonic 3D Blast's homing attack was only possible with a shield, so it really shouldn't count.
Ryan Severson Yes it counts, I used to hold on to that yellow shield like my life depends on it because of that, have you tried jumping on enemies in Sonic 3D Blast without the yellow shield?
+Blazed Again It's a really, really dated game nowadays. Bad camera, full of glitches, wierd controls, wierd stages, awful story, Big the cat, etc. Sonic fanboys won't agree though...
Awesome! I love seeing that you are guys aren't prejudiced against polygonal retro video games. I mean they have it hard already, they didn't age nearly as well. Probably due to the lifestyle they led.
Games you MUST have in the sequel, and you damn well better make a part 2!: -Banjo-Kazooie -Banjo-Tooie -Donkey Kong 64 -Super Mario 64 -Super Mario Sunshine -Bubsy 3D (for an example of 3D platforming done wrong) -Earthworm Jim 3D (see above)
Have either of you guys beaten the "Flawless Run" stage in Galaxy 2? I was able to do it once, but my last attempt was not as successful. Not that the reward is worth much: You get Rosalina on your Mario-head spaceship! And you get to talk to her! And she cheers you on! God, I wish the Wii had an achievement system or something!
3D platforming is tricky but here's a tip. As you're jumping to the next platform, look for the characters shadow on the platform you're jumping to. That lets you know you're definitely safe to land. Now, Of course, don't jump passed the platform you're jumping to if you choose to use this method. :)
Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games, and I'm excited for a sequel. Strangely, the gunplay in Mirror's Edge was probably its worst part while the game's developer, Dice, is known for the Battlefield series which has some of the best gunplay in the industry.
Oh yes, the Super Mario Galaxy games are phenomenal! 2 of my favourite games ever! Perhaps next time you guys should cover the other 3D Mario games, like 64, Sunshine and 3D World... The Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games would also be a good one to cover in a future episode
I recommend the "Ape Escape" trilogy of games, the "Crash Bandicoot" trilogy of games, "Psychonauts", "Spyro the Dragon", "Jumping Flash", and "Wario World". All of these are great.
"The main problem is that (insert explanation)" No wrong, that is because it isn't really "3D". Yes it simulates a 3D environment, but you still have no control over your character, it is basically controlling the backgrounds around it. This is why there are so many leaps of faith and bad camera angles, at least we blame it on bad camera angles but in fact the real way to play video games in 3D hasn't been invented yet. Oh by the way, WE TRULY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
Banjo and Kazooie, Super Mario 3D world, Medievil, Soul Reaver and Legacy of Cain, Tomb Raider series, Uncharted series, Crash Bandicoots, Ratchet and Clanks, the list goes on. There are so many good 3D platformers out there and these are just a few of mer furvrits. It's hard to choose between 2d and 3D platform games, both have their own charm, 2D games are usually more challenging and precise, 3D games are generally more atmospheric, it depends on what you're in the mood for!
Games you should look for part 2: -Psychonauts (originally came out for XBox, but right now it's on a lot of platforms, including PSN and Steam, I think this is the best platformer on this list, it's weird no one else is pointing it out) -Ratchet & Clank (there are 3 games for the PS2 and 3 or 4 for PS4) -Sly Cooper (3 games for PS2 and one game for PS4) -The other Jak games -Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (the sequels are fine, but they have too much combat that I'm not sure if they are still platfomers) -Mario 64 -A lot of RARE games for N64 -the Pac-man world games -the Spyro the Dragon games
You know, I'm actually glad you guys didn't talk about that certain game series with the bear and the bird. Kinda tired of hearing how much everyone loves that series, and it's good to see you guys focus on platformers that people don't really talk about too much.
I love this episode. The jokes you guys made were hilarious. I definitely look forward to seeing a Part 2. Maybe even a Part 3 to the RPG series? Can't wait for whatever you release next. Games I recommend for a 3D platformers Part 2 would be: The Pac-Man World games, Super Mario Sunshine, Vexx on Xbox, and not sure if this counts as a 3D platformer Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver either Dreamcast or PSX (you could do that sweet Side by Side comparison!)
Banjo-Kazooie for part 2! And maybe Tooie as well if you feel like double dipping, as it does evolve the first game in a few interesting ways, but I understand if not. Other great ones to consider: Spyro, Donkey Kong 64, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, Ratchet and Clank, and Sly Cooper. And if you want one that's really out there, Chameleon Twist is a real unique oddball.
You should definitely include: - Spyro the Dragon 1-3 - Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine - Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo Tooie - Ratchet and Clank 1-3 - Ape Escape 1-3 - Toy Sory 2 - Gex 3D - Sly Cooper 1-3
Some other 3D platformers to consider in your future videos (assuming you don't already have a list!): 1. Deathtrap Dungeon (PC and PSX) 2. MDK (PSX) 3. Medievil 1 and 2 (PSX) 4. Nightmare Creatures 1 and 2 (N64/PSX) 5. Tomb Raider 1/2/3 (PC/PSX/Saturn) 6. Tomb Raider Anniversary (HD remake of the first game PS2) 7. Shadowman (N64/PSX) 8. Jet Force Gemini (N64) 9. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (XBOX/PS2/Gamecube/PC) 10. Ratchet & Clank series (PS2)
I just realized that despite pretty much being established by Nintendo, the 3D platformer genre was actually mostly serviced by western devs. No wonder I have so few of them in my sack.
I really missed the Maximo games. Proudly beat both of them in what I consider to be a short amount of time. I had to replay quite a few stages but loved every minute of it. great Ghost n Goblins follow-ups to the franchise.
Hey, the midway segment actually served a purpose! Haha. Usually Joe is always like "Anyway let's move on!" after two seconds. Good episode. Sonic Adventure sucks indeed. Do you guys own Super Mario Maker? Send me a level and I'll clear it!
Every episode is games... when are you guys finally gonna talk about sacks?
Joe Blow oh man this brings me back I love sacks especially when they have balls or nuts in them
I like the Nintendo Switch official carrying case; I have the Zelda one, and the leather (leather-like?) texture is nice.
Lol
hahaha
Best gamesack comment ive read in 7 years of watching 😂
Sonic all day every day. Sonic Adventure still freaking rules today!
+EpicRive Just so you know I completely agree with both of you.
+DreamcastGuy I only like the Sonic Adventure games because of the Chaos, so yeah, go Sonic Adventure, even if your side content is superior to the core content.

I still find the first one more enjoyable to play than the second one.

+Falcon Helmet in no way they are horrible, go play Sonic 2006 for that. And gameplay is great, except for fishing, maybe you just not into Sonic much.
+Falcon Helmet sonic adventure had a lot of gimmicks and mini games so youre totally making up excuses by calling it repetitive...
3d platformers are my favorite type of game, wish they made more of them.
+BLueSun They have had an independent resurgence lately. Yooka Laylee is practically today's Rare and is being made by the BK team. Hat in Time is almost out, and there are some others that were promoted on Kickstarter.

+ungibbed Agreed I like the fact that they talk about this version.
It's a pity they went back to 2D with Rayman. Are there even any good 3D platformers out there anymore?
@@elgoog-the-third Yeah the genre kind of fell out of style this generation. Yuka & Laylee is the only one I can think of right now.
The newest 2D Rayman is brilliant tho, one of the all-time great platformers in my opinion.

My recommendations for future episodes would be:
- The Jumping Flash games (my favorites on PS1!)
- Tokobot for PSP (or Tokobot Plus for PS2), a puzzle platformer that doesn't get nearly enough coverage
- Gurumin (a superb 3D platformer from Falcom for PSP and PC)
- Nayuta no Kiseki (another superb 3D platformer from Falcom for PSP that never came out in English, but the story's kind of lackluster while the gameplay is FANTASTIC, so you're not missing much if you play it without being able to read it)

I really like the jumping flash games and replay them often. they are short, easy and I just find playing them relaxing.
We've covered jumping flash before. It's a series that I really like and yeah not enough people give it love.
+Wyrdwad I haven't played Nayuta since I'm waiting til I have more confidence in my Japanese to play it but Gurumin is really great! It controls well, looks adorable, and has awesome music which is a given for a Falcom game.

The Game Sack show freaks me out a little because Joe looks like my dad, only not as bald.
Are you my dad, Joe?
This is my favorite genre. Congratulations for this video and I hope you make more of this.
"Jak 2 has a lot of color"
Man, you really have to go and play Jak 1 someday.
Its 2020 and idk if he ever played it. Years of my life have vanished wondering
Nevermind he did in the ps2 episode. He liked it. I can finally sleep.
The way Joe said "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?!" in the post-credits scene almost made me cough up my food in laughter. Also, another great episode Joe and Dave! Keep up the great work! :)
Bubsy 3D!
LOL
Just remember to install the Backward Movement mod.
"That system specalizes in colors that look like vomit" I just love the shade thrown there

THANK YOU. UA-camrs that finally mention RALLISPORT CHALLENGE. Those two games are my two favorite racing games. I have played Rallisport Challenge 2 more than 3 thousand hours since it came out (I might be exaggerating, but you get the idea).
Super awesome meeting you guys at PRGE! I'd add Psychonauts, my favorite platformer for PS2 (and whatever else it came out on)
Wait they went to PRGE?! Dammit I missed them that year :(
good episode Game Sack.I used this episode as a guide to purchase a lot of games... your episode guide has become one heck of a shopping list!
We need more Jak games and also you never mentioned is dark eco powers which I always thought was pretty cool..
+AHeroAlmost Heck Dark Eco powers were the most awesome addition to the second game... but instead he talked about the day/night system, like who cared about that? I barely even noticed it back when I played it myself.
+AHeroAlmost Jak II was awesome. Very underrated game back in the day
Psycho Machinery Jak II may have been a very stark contrast to the bright happy-go-lucky theme I loved about Jak 1, but damn was that game good too, Jak II I mean.
No Banjo Kazooie or Banjo Tooie? Damn right you haven't made a "part 2"!
Great episode, guys ;)
+Dome-Candy Games They've talked about Banjo a LOOOOOOOOOOT. They don't need to mention it ever single time it fits into a category...
+Dome-Candy Games This...And the other Rareware greats like Conker's Bad Fur Day and Donkey Kong 64.
i was told Ghosts and Goblins 64 was cancelled, but clearly it is Maximo.
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos and Croc 2. Bonus points if you cover the first game on the Sega Saturn.
+saturnotaku I remember them covering Croc in a previous video, cant remember the topic tho. Probably a mascot related one or something.
The ONLY comparisons worth showing are Sweet-Ass Side-By-Sides. Everything else can't stack up.
I loved this episode so much, most of the games of this episode were part of my childhood.
Great channel, greetings from Spain!
;)
In part two you should include the Legacy of Kain games. The 3-d ones.
Technical marvels for the ps1
+400KrispyKremes oh man, yeah there's a handful to choose from. One of the guys who did the level design for Soul Reaver 1 and 2 was my professor at college. I like the blocking in the newer ones, cool system for combat.
+400KrispyKremes Aside from the first game in the series, they are all 3D.
One of my favorite game series of all time though.
+400KrispyKremes That was a badass game franchise. Shame it was put to death long ago.
Psycho Machinery yer the Director and lead voice actor died in a car crash. That voice made those games. Sad :(
There is the multiplayer shooter in the Legacy of Kain universe, no idea if it's any good
Fine episode. I never miss Game Sack.
They released the Jak & Daxter Trilogy (or if you're in the states, Jak & Daxter Collection) for the PS3 in 2012. I am not sure if this helps, but if it is the PS2 versions you are looking for I would say your best bet is Amazon.
Thanks. I'm looking to get the collection on PS3.
awesome you guys never cease to come up with awesome ideas for new shows!
A little off topic but Happy Birthday to the NES who turns 30 today.
even more off topic I turned 20 today
+Amber Short happy b-day nes! :D
+wayge Same here.
+datajari ?
***** congrats :) thought you were correcting me at first lol
Nice one Dave for showing a little love to Rallisport Challenge, the second one was my favourite racer on Xbox.
I FREAKING LOVE SUPER MARIO GALAXY!!!!
+Solomona Leiato If you say so
Spoofy Zapps435 I can't help it. I think the game is a modern art masterpiece.
+Spoofy Zapps435 I'm pretty sure he just did
+Solomona Leiato i dont know what to say if you hate it
Daniel Easyrhino but I don't though
Hey guys thanks for making this episode. 3D platforming is kinda where gaming started for me. I got an N64 for christmas with Mario 64, and since then it's been one of my favourite type of games. I hope to see more of these
Game Sack is my favorite gaming channel. Then MetalJesusRocks, Petedorr, HappyConsoleGamer, AlphaOmegaSin, ReviewFapUSA, Jabba2988...respectively.
+Toonses I like all those except the last two. Never heard of them, I would add ClassicGameRoom to the list.
+pirosoffaireyes Caddicarus and Import Gaming FTW are pretty good too
+Toonses Angry Video Game Nerd (Cinemassacre) is pretty good too, take a look, :D
cheers!
ofernandofilo OMG I know he's a scammer.
Oh Yeah, I love Caddicarus. Funny shit
Kick ass video guys. Always on the lookout for a good 3D platformer.
And now even the most obvious platforming in games is called "parkour", I spose because "platforming" is too kiddy a term 😒
Sonic games went downhill fast after the characters started talking
+The Obsolete Geek So... after Sonic CD then?
+The Obsolete Geek I think Sonic got crappy when they started trying to "tell a story". Sonic 1 was all the story the game needed. Sonic is trying to save his woodland friends from some evil guy who is turning them into robots. It evoked Dr. Seuss like environmental themes and the name Dr. Robotnik was evocative of telling a whole story in just his name. It was great design, even if it was done after-the-fact by the localization team. As soon they started trying to give sonic a cast of relationships, most of the bizarre, the series went downhill. Just another example of detail not necessarily making stories better.
+The Obsolete Geek No, they went downhill after they started to be crap
+The Obsolete Geek I couldn't agree with you more. Sonic went downhill when his games went in to 3D. In 3D he controls like he's drunk and running on ice, there are extra characters no one cares about who all have annoying voices and the in-game camera is borderline broken most of the time. Even the 3D Sonic games that fans praise such as Sonic Adventure 2 are terrible compared to other 3D platformers like Crash Bandicoot and Ratchet and Clank.
+JazGalaxy This.
Oh wow! Big ups to you both for using Baten Kaitos' music theme at the begining! Such an amazing game with awesome music! :D
Game Sack
Ok so im not gonna waste my $$ on the official sony component cables. Thanks for the advice and another great episode!
Don't skip sonic adventure 1 lol. Shits awesome
Future games to cover: Mega Man Legends, Ape Escape, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Ratchet and Clank, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day and many more I can't think of off the top of my head.
Spyro (ps1 )
Alice madness returns
I have recently picked up Alice. I just need to find some time to play it. It looks great.
+Game Sack Dave
have fun :-)
+Game Sack Dave Same, I just started playing yesterday, probably one of the most visually stunning games I have ever seen, the games just a standard platformer, but wow, it is gorgeous.
Another great episode of Game Sack. Thanks, guys.
the prince of persia series... I have no idea how you could talk about 3D platforming without mentioning PoP (and, by extension, the not as great Assassin's Creed games)
Oh we're not done talking about 3D platformers yet. PoP is one of my favorite series and I haven't forgotten about it.
Game Sack Dave Great to hear!
This is starting to be the best part of my saturday night.
Unsubbed because ReviewTechUSA rarely reviews tech!!!
dumbass this isnt RTU. Cant you tell by the lack of rubbing cucumbers on nipples?
because he is a fat ass and that don't know anything about tech
+TonyLikeGames2 give big cheese his 200 nipples back
plus he whines to much
+TonyLikeGames2 RTU keeps showing the same screencaptures of six games he only play. Unsubbed.
Nice to see you guys cover Maximo...very underrated
Should have been named "3D adventure games with platforming included." Especially since my fave 3D platformer wasn't on here, aka Pandemonium 2. Seriously, all these were adventure games. Zelda would have been a contender here :)
The Jak, rayman, sonic and mario games are all platformers what are you talking about
i have to go with the crowd and say jumping flash! that episode was cool like always! the rayman segment was funny as hell. it's freaking amazing that you guys put still alive at the end credits i think that song is so good .
was trying to get into you guys until you started dissing sonic adventure games. they are the best 3D platformers ever.
I mean, you're entitled to your opinion ... ... ... ... but your opinion is wrong 🙃
YES! Part 2.
Mystical Ninja Goemon (N64), Goemon's Great Adventure (N64), Banjo Kazooie (N64), Conkers Bad Fur Day (N64), Okami (PS2), Rayman 3 (PS2), Pacman World (PS2), Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (PS2), Spyro the Dragon Series (PS1), Crash Bandicoot Series (PS1), Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (PS1), Gex 2 & 3 (PS1), Rugrats Search for Reptar (PS1), Bugs Bunny Lost in Time (PS1), Bugs Bunny Time Busters (PS1), Kingsleys Adventure (PS1), 102 Dalmations Puppies to Rescue (PS1), Sly Cooper (PS2), Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom (PS2/GC), Sonic Heroes (PS2/GC), Psychonauts (PS2/Xbox)
Ape Escape 1, 2, & 3 (PS1 / PS2), Dogs Life (PS2), The Dog Island (PS2), Epic Mickey 1 & 2 (Wii)
crash also please notice me came sack
Noticed!
+Jacob Barnett +Game Sack Yes!!! I was also hopping to see the trilogy in this episode.
Mauricio Gonzalez Rodriguez Who's "Came Sack"?
Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Psychonauts, Beyond Good & Evil...
Dude, try Sonic Generations. Everything between Adventure 2 and Generations is trash, but Generations is pretty great.
+DrQuijano - Sonic Colors was also good.
+Pissed Off Video Gamer - Adventure 2 is not trash. It's my second favorite Sonic game with Generations being my #1.
+DrQuijano In a previous episode, he stated he didn't care for Colors or Generations. :P
+Pissed Off Video Gamer - I liked Sonic/Shadow's and Tails/Eggman's stages but I didn't care for Knuckles/Rouge's stages.
Yeah, Klonoa 2. Forgot for a minute there that the original was 2.5D.
Game Sack
If my comment was lazy it wouldn't be that long :v
Anyway, you guys should learn how to take constructive criticism, I only say that because this is my favorite UA-cam Channel by far and I been waiting for this week's episode since last week so being that disappointed really says a lot.
Ryan Severson
Yes it counts, I used to hold on to that yellow shield like my life depends on it because of that, have you tried jumping on enemies in Sonic 3D Blast without the yellow shield?
+juice hedgehog I own the game on Genesis, Saturn, and Pc, for some reason. and the best way to take out enemies is spin dashing, not jumping on them.
Super glad you included Maximo. definitely a favorite PS2 series for me. Somewhat overlooked.
Sonic Adventure is a crappy 3D platform game?.... WHAT THE FUCK... NO! It is 1 of the best Sonic games ever!...
+Adam Michael Play it again. Really. It's not good, anymore. I know it's weird to think about but it is baaaaaaad.
+Blazed Again Nah, it's still really good. lol
+Blazed Again It's a really, really dated game nowadays. Bad camera, full of glitches, wierd controls, wierd stages, awful story, Big the cat, etc.
Sonic fanboys won't agree though...
Cristiano or people can have there own opinions. :)
Blazed Again Nope, I play it regular... it's still 1 of my fav games of all time
Love this episode! Would also love to see you cover more 3D platformers.
you guys are releasing to much amusing content, unsubbed.
+Art-Official Entertainment hey your here, UNSUBBED!!!
The worms inside of the dirt shit, busted... resubbed ?
Art-Official Entertainment yh fine... *pssst, i never actually unsubbed, i'm watching your vids right now*
Awesome! I love seeing that you are guys aren't prejudiced against polygonal retro video games. I mean they have it hard already, they didn't age nearly as well. Probably due to the lifestyle they led.
Games you MUST have in the sequel, and you damn well better make a part 2!:
-Banjo-Kazooie
-Banjo-Tooie
-Donkey Kong 64
-Super Mario 64
-Super Mario Sunshine
-Bubsy 3D (for an example of 3D platforming done wrong)
-Earthworm Jim 3D (see above)
Maximo has seriously impressive sound design. Those effects sound so good!
I am a soldier in deployment over seas now I really wanna thank you guys for the good show you guys doing great job
I remember that Maximo really impressed me graphically at the time: shadows were a novelty, and the smooth animation made me love that game!
You should most definitely do Jak III. It expands and adds to everything that was great in Jak II and adds so much cool stuff platforming wise.
Mirror's Edge is one of my favorite games, and I'm excited for a sequel. Strangely, the gunplay in Mirror's Edge was probably its worst part while the game's developer, Dice, is known for the Battlefield series which has some of the best gunplay in the industry.
Love your videos and format. Very easy and awesome to watch! thanks for all of your hard work.
Glad that you included Mirror's Edge. Definitely unexpected!
I highly reccommend you include at least one of the first three Spyro games in Part 2.
Nice to see you dare to compare with that explosive side-by-side comparison - keep it up
Donkey Kong 64 is my favorite 3D platformer. It gets alot of hate from some people but I just love everything about it.
Games you should look for part 2:
-Psychonauts (originally came out for XBox, but right now it's on a lot of platforms, including PSN and Steam, I think this is the best platformer on this list, it's weird no one else is pointing it out)
-Ratchet & Clank (there are 3 games for the PS2 and 3 or 4 for PS4)
-Sly Cooper (3 games for PS2 and one game for PS4)
-The other Jak games
-Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (the sequels are fine, but they have too much combat that I'm not sure if they are still platfomers)
-Mario 64
-A lot of RARE games for N64
-the Pac-man world games
-the Spyro the Dragon games
You know, I'm actually glad you guys didn't talk about that certain game series with the bear and the bird. Kinda tired of hearing how much everyone loves that series, and it's good to see you guys focus on platformers that people don't really talk about too much.
I love this episode. The jokes you guys made were hilarious. I definitely look forward to seeing a Part 2. Maybe even a Part 3 to the RPG series? Can't wait for whatever you release next.
Games I recommend for a 3D platformers Part 2 would be:
The Pac-Man World games, Super Mario Sunshine, Vexx on Xbox, and not sure if this counts as a 3D platformer Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver either Dreamcast or PSX (you could do that sweet Side by Side comparison!)
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is one of my all time favourites, it's criminal that it never got a follow up
Banjo-Kazooie for part 2!
You should definitely include:
- Spyro the Dragon 1-3
- Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine
- Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo Tooie
- Ratchet and Clank 1-3
- Ape Escape 1-3
- Toy Sory 2
- Gex 3D
- Sly Cooper 1-3
Loved the ending! (and the beginning and middle, too)
Some other 3D platformers to consider in your future videos (assuming you don't already have a list!):
1. Deathtrap Dungeon (PC and PSX)
2. MDK (PSX)
3. Medievil 1 and 2 (PSX)
4. Nightmare Creatures 1 and 2 (N64/PSX)
5. Tomb Raider 1/2/3 (PC/PSX/Saturn)
6. Tomb Raider Anniversary (HD remake of the first game PS2)
7. Shadowman (N64/PSX)
8. Jet Force Gemini (N64)
9. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (XBOX/PS2/Gamecube/PC)
10. Ratchet & Clank series (PS2)
Are you guys planning an updated game collection tour anytime soon?
Love getting my Sunday morning Sack on.
I just realized that despite pretty much being established by Nintendo, the 3D platformer genre was actually mostly serviced by western devs. No wonder I have so few of them in my sack.
Hey great job on the video and awesome choice on the ending song.
I've never played Mirrors Edge, but I do agree, the OST is fantastic!
Now that 2D and 3D platform games have been covered, it'd be great to see some 2.5 platformers in the future.
