This was the simplest, to the point video about DIY washes I've ever watched! I've been researching how to better use my inks, and a lot of people recommend mixing medium and soap, or flow improver, or some other medium of sorts, but the results you're showing with such a simple recipe can't be argued with! On my way to buying some matte medium!
@@PaintonPlasticbyLincolnWright I use gel medium for water surface on top of resin but not used on a model... I also make epoxy river tables so do a lot of experiments with inks and resins.... I really love the Ma.K content its so difficult to get the Nitto or copies of here in New Zealand
@ Nigel Smith Yes, I'm sorry about the sales to NZ, you'll have to get them from Japan directly like I do now. Good call on them for water effects, I sooooo want to do this with a Grosserhund shortly so more soon mate!
If I am not mistaken Vallejo has something called game ink, guess that will work in a similar way too other water based inks. I personally have tried using water based washes for models, however I belive enamel is safer because I know they can always be removed and for effects such as dirt accumulation they have a more realistic looking finish.
Yep, they do have such a product. Yes as you know I am also a big fan of enamels and this is a slightly different effect, more for the translucent property of the inks for shading, not so much for weathering which will come later. ^^
I've tried to write and put them together so they will help a new person along the journey both into model making and Ma.K. So I would start at Vol. 1 and read through all of them if you can. ^^

Glad it was helpful!
I have been using these for washes and panel lining on aircraft for many years... So easy to use and even when dry can be cleaned up with water
Nice one Nigel, I agree they are great! Have you also tried with Mediums? It's a nice change too ^^
I was just wondering what the clean up process would be after they dry 👍

Hi, as a "newbie" which of your books is best recommended for the basics?
