I bought a 4x4 slash with the brushed motor, it was my first rc since I dove into the world and I was super happy with it.(have had it for 6 months about) Great starter car, and as my knowledge grew, I was able to upgrade the car at a pace and price that was very reasonable. I have upgraded shocks, brushless 2-3s motor esc combo, front and back lights, spektrum reciever, and I used spectrum across the board so i can use the cell phone dash board and my dx3 transmitter from my infraction. All very reasonablely priced options imo. Love the rc life.
Dude..I got ripped off also..it... over 6billz with shipping through Amazon...don't feel sh1tty bout it😂. I took my Ultimate.. and made it SICK!! X0-1 Drive shafts.. ect ect
They still make the version you have of the slash ultimate and they now make a clippless version. But traxxas did factor that in to the price. So retail is around $530
the traxxas HD kit, i think is the best plastic upgrades. I had the all the tekno parts on my slash, quality. but not very strong. its the new Traxxas kit that really eliminates the biggest chunk of the aftermarket for the slash.
While I agree the HD kit is the way to go however not after buying an ultimate. Changing out aluminum parts for plastic ones seems backwards. I would get a BL2-s and upgrade the motor to the 3500 for a slash or a 540xl for a Rustler. Slash gets a little more complicated because the BL2-s is an HCG chassis but the Rustler is damn near good to go. Buy the 25.00 chassis brace and the steel steering shafts and you're good to go.
Gotta hit those jumps with more authority, i know its counterintuitive but a big send into the proper landing zone is easier on the rig than flat or uphill landings
Zack definitely should do an overhaul to the original. It'd be a fun video series to see it slowly taken apart and restored/upgraded, or even converted into something new
Can you list the suspension setup your buddy help put on. You mentioned he helped you tune the suspension but no mention of said adjustments. Great video, thanks!
Hey, sorry for the late reply but I’m said buddy! Didn’t do anything fancy, just adjusted the spring preload to get the ride height set correctly. No clue why Traxxas does this but out of the box the ultimate has the shock collars spun all the way up in the rear, so the spring isn’t even captured. At the very least you want to spin those collars down so they’re touching the spring at full droop. The amount of preload you add will vary based on the weight of your battery, but the goal is to have the suspension arms level in the rear and slightly below level in the front. Hope this helps!
Not only do I appreciate part numbers on screen, I appreciate the sound effect so I know to look back at the screen. Ive been watching this while I'm working, so not always paying attention to the screen. Great video, I'm a new subscriber.
Maybe stupid question, but would you like to share the value of your teuck now finished? Reason I'm asking, love to buy a slash, but don't know if i should buy an old one and finetune to my preferences or buy a new one? Should I go for 2wd or a 4wd. Thx giving me some tips&tricks for a new hobbiest. Grtz Ben
hey Bud, my first time here... I really enjoyed your video, but in 2024, maybe work on your presentation (video angles and movement speed, and please ditch the Crocs 🙄) ... your subscriber/ likes rate is spot on!!! just that bit of extra... (apologies, but really no offence) heading to your other videos now...
I dont think so. If you do the math, just to bring it up to Ultimate level of durability, suspension and aluminum upgrades on a stock 4x4 VXL, you're easily hitting over $500 on parts alone on top of the RTR.
I agree, I would have stripped down the old one and built it. Thats what the hobby is about✌️. When I upgraded my rock crawler I stripped down my old 2009 axial ax10 and used the chassis plates then used all after market parts for the rebuild. Cheaper? Nope... better? 100%. I also have a slash, even with the ultimate after some races or some bashing you are going to be doing some upgrades anyway... so might as well have researched parts and built from scratch and have a rad full custom build instead of an over priced factory car everyone else at the park or track has.
I have built and owned more Slashes than I can count ever since they came out in 2008 and as over priced as the ultimate is there’s no way you can take a 12 year old beat up Slash and make it better for under 400 and it’s because as over priced the ultimate is the parts to upgrade the old one is also over priced and that’s if you’re using non Traxxas parts. If you buy the base Slash 4x4 and do all the upgrades to get it to the ultimate you will have way more than just buying the ultimate. If you think I’m wrong then please do a price list on the 12 year old and prove me wrong.
Really I'll run my slash against your slash oh yah look this up castle your friend built your truck not you you need to stick with stickers REALY !!!!!LOL

'so shiny' for the body means we can actually see his face reflected when he pulls off the plastic layer😲😲😲
super nice job man love your slash
Never thought you had an RC channel, that thumbnail font was like... That's Zack from Shooting cars? Yes it is! 😅
They still make the version you have of the slash ultimate and they now make a clippless version. But traxxas did factor that in to the price. So retail is around $530
15:59 It makes you happy this is only what’s important dude.
Enjoy RC with your brothers, life is good !!
Awesome build man. I'm dusting off my Slash 4x4 and E-Revo after watching this. Great video mate
This truck looks absolutely sick

I just happened across your channel, I'm into crawlers. That shop has been there through it all, I remember it as a kid. I'm an old man now lol

Those Scorched RC fenders work great, i have a set on both of my Slashs

Thank
I currently have 3 Slash 4x4! The metal driveshafts are a big weak point. I also recommend a Tekno Center Driveshaft! nice video!
Cool truck and glad you enjoy it. If you don't mind, what brand/model are those ramps you all had at the field?
As the build came together so did you, the haircut and shave look good lmao. But great content, subbed!
Cool, you have a nice slash. I want put my slash like yours in some moment... I see you from Colombia, south América, and I your slash is awsome
Good job, you BOUGHT the perfect Traxxas Slash 4x4
Nah he did a lot to it just came really good performance wise from the start so most of the mods are for looks
Are you aware of the Drywall Mesh Tape and Shoe Goo mod for body reinforcement? Works pretty good for keeping your body in one piece.
Looks Dope Bro
I enjoyed this video even though I'm a little bored with the Slash platform, I still have 4 of them and still drive them often though.
Where ya from? Saw Burlington track and I go there frequently.
Were in the Chicagoland area!
great looking car dude 😀👍👌👌
I have mine 6 years now stock and its stil perfect
Awesome video!!!
Awesome build awesome car but if u wanna get into racing I’d say go with a losi tenacity rtr.
That is nice man, greetings from Denmark.
New Subscriber Here!👍🏼 AWESOME VIDEO MAN!!!
Won't the paint crack and peel? Not being body paint----+flexible?
Painted bodies peel and crack more vs laminated paint from the factory
The Krylon paint will flake off as it's not made for polycarbonate.
Love the build👍
I have a question:
Is there any advantage to a heavy spare tire?
Wouldn’t a faux lexan tire be lighter & cheaper?
The only advantage is how cool it looks. There aren't any performance benefits.
so where is that perfect slash????
Great Content keep it up just liked & subbed quality content!!
I currently have a 2wd slash and am now looking to sell it to upgrade it to a Slash 4x4
Oh shit man are you in Will County? I saw Leasure Hour hobbies. I'm in dupage.
Mine came straight from the factory with the full light system
You can add the clipless body system to this
Nice video, so your version is not the clipless body?
Correct, it is not clip-less. However, this ended up not mattering because the inner wheel wells would block where you would unclip the body.
Maybe stupid question, but would you like to share the value of your teuck now finished? Is the Traxxas Ford Fiesta a good car? It looks amazing, but think has a lot of restraints compared to all the others.
Thanks!!
Dude are you from Washington?
You forgot to add a roof guard
Shout out to Eugene Toy & Hobby! My local shop too, awesome.
Same here!!!
And i just got done telling my wife that I’ve never been interested in a slash… well she’s gonna be in for a shock.
🔥

Lol, top-of-the-line Slash. I feel like that's an oxymoron. Kind of like saying Jumbo Shrimp.😂
Idk man, my slash is pretty damn reliable
What rear bumper are you running? I like the rear tire on the back of the truck I would like to do the same thing.
Rpm rc products makes the bumper and tire rack!
Pleasd show how to change drive gear orininal 2 wheel 5yrs old help newbe
Wait a second, I know this guy from somewhere...hmm
Really too bad that you bought this right before the clipless body
They sell conversion mounts
Not a fan. I prefer multiple body options.
You can convert it lol
I did it to my platinum slash with the new copper fox shocks body
Look, do not use scissors to do the job of a knife. It will bite you one day. There will be much spillage and you might panic. Use a knife!
It wouldn’t take long to get that old slash going. IMO you could have built a way better slash than the ultimate with $400.
I dont think so. If you do the math, just to bring it up to Ultimate level of durability, suspension and aluminum upgrades on a stock 4x4 VXL, you're easily hitting over $500 on parts alone on top of the RTR.
@@TKim103 if you are telling me that you couldn’t build a better slash than the ultimate with that kinda $$$ than you’re crazy or just not trying.

Could have built a way better used car with new parts 😂😂😂
I am a new subscriber but I also built a 4X 4 monster slash
