My son and I have the Traxxas 4x4s we have Arrmas . Traxxas rallis . And some other smaller cars . But 2 WD are by far the cars we used the most these cars can take a bitting and sooo much fun .
I love this video. I got that exact truck, and I did the exact same things. Not only that, I came to the exact same conclusions. Its the only "normal" Slash I have, and right now it is by far my favorite....(I swapped in a VXL.... only difference)
I really appreciate your comment and I'm thrilled that you liked the video. I really like that truck and from an economy standpoint, it really might be the overall best slash to buy. It takes almost nothing to get to to VXL level performance for way under VXL cost, and you could always upgrade more as you go. It's also been a tough reliable truck for us so far as well.
I think traxxas will phase out the xl5. I started with a slash when I was 10 with an xl5 and 15 years later with several different set ups the slash 2wd is still my go to rc car.
Nice one. I really like that you compared the Arrma and Traxxas in a side by side run. I really like the performance of the Reedy ESC and Motor. It looks wimpy but it just does such a good job.
That reedy system is just so reliable. I was surprised it ran the Traxxas so well because the Traxxas weighs a lot more than most team associated stuff you'd find that system in.
@@Rek_Rc I raced short course for about 4yrs hardcore, I'd enter 3 - 4 classes every weekend, now that gets hectic but fun AF.. Do you have any tracks in your area, well within reasonable driving distance? lol and have you ever raced or thought about racing? That clipless system is outstanding! I wonder how much a new body costs. It seems to really stay on there good even after the abuse you put it through!😆 50 mph isn't bad at all. Is that a F540 motor? It should be pretty quick but it may be a little low on torque. I am really curios to see how it performs!
I'm curious about that motor too, that's why I'm going to give it it's own video. But yes, the clipless body of the Traxxas stayed exactly in place through All the crashes. I wrecked it more than I showed hahahahaha
I would of just changed the ESC to a 3S ESC. The stock traxxass "2S" motor is only 3300kv so theres no reason to belive it shouldn't be completely fine on 3S
@Rek_Rc Didn't realise. *shaking head* typical traxxas They probably figured out that all someone has to do us is swap the ESC out so they made sure it wasn't that easy with their proprietary BS connectors again. This is one of the reasons I don't love traxxas. They went out of their way to make it harder to upgrade or use aftermarket parts. They want you to pay for an overpriced 3S velineon combo
@@druscanamwhich is funny, because I hear nothing but bad things about Vileneon ESCs. I swear, Traxxas go out of their way to make sure I'd never buy one of their products. It's proprietary BS like this that would *ruin* the hobby for everyone if Traxxas had their way. Which is why I find it so funny when some snobs act like Traxxas is the only company who made decent RCs. Because even IF that lie were true, then Traxxas would control the whole RC market, charge $700 for a 2s truck that had no aftermarket support (because Traxxas would sue all aftermarket companies if they could) and the crappiest parts possible, simply because there was no other choice. These blind fanboys don't realize that if Traxxas had their way, they'd ruin the entire RC market with expensive products that performed terribly or didn't work at all if you didn't buy only 100% Traxxas products with a bullshit proprietary system. Even if Arrma is second best, I'm 100% sure I made the right choice by making my first 2 RCs Arrma. Plus, Horizon Hobby has the best warranty support. They sent me everything after one email with one picture, no BS jerking me around pretending whatever broke was MY fault.
Be interesting to see how that motor with the fins on performes as they are only a 390size motor internally. The new traxxas done well, my problem with it is time you upgrade to a cheap brushless system. It is twice the price of the Jumpshot Flux, the HPI radio is also a much better radio then the basic TQ radio the Slash comes with.
Maybe, but then you have that built in support on parts and upgrades with the slash. You can get parts for the HPI as well, but sometimes it's not as easy. I was surprised how well the slash drives though. I expected it to be decent, but it was a little better than that. The senton needs some TLC badly. It's half broken all the time.
@@gillian9178 oh nice! It's not horrible here, just not as readily available as the Traxxas or Arrma. I really like HPI, it's nice to see them getting more attention recently.
If you intend to swap out to a better brushless system in the new BL-2s, wouldn't it be bettter & cheaper to go with the new XL5 version with the clipless body. Also not 2wd, I looked at the 4x4 BL-2 with the lcg chassis & upgrase the electrics, for better handing being 4x4.@@Rek_Rc
Cant wait to see that Team Associated. When are you getting it? Its on special now in NZ. Please get the video out so i can decide if im gonna get it not. Awesome vid bro
Thank you sir! I'm ordering the TA next weekend. I'm excited for the SC10, I've wanted one for a while but the HPI and slash BL-2S were too good on price to pass up recently
I knew they were good trucks, but I never realized how well they handle, even the 2WD version like that one was fantastic on or offroad. I'm glad you liked the action montage, it was hard to get the air footage that day because the wind was insane!
That's a tough one. Both are very durable, the senton slightly more so maybe, but the slash BL-2S has the heavy duty transmission, and drive shafts so in that regard the durability is probably even. If you buy the slash and leave it stock, you're going to need an adapter to use different batteries besides Traxxas batteries, but the adapters are cheap, if you buy the Senton, you can use many different batteries from your favorite companies. Both can be upgraded to BLX and VXL performance very easily. But for the same price, I might go Traxxas unless I plan to go to skateparks, in which case I'd go Senton. But if I was forced to chose right now, I think the slash BL-2S would be my pick. Now if we're talking BLX bs VXL, I'll go BLX every time.
I own both. A 2wd slash with the 1st gen VXL system. I have a Senton also with a VXL (second gen system) The senton genuinely does seem like a better basher. But I’m my opinion the slash is more fun to drive and it is faster. The senton just feels kinda clunky to me while driving it. Both are fun but I’m debating selling the senton, I like it but I don’t need it or necessarily love the car. Also rocks getting stuck in its steering system is way annoying (even with the most recent version)
@@RichWong-z1n nope, both are 48 pitch gearing because it's a 2WD. It's only like 5 teeth over the stock pinion. Upgrading a spur gear really only matters when you increase power or plan to bash heavily. Which I did both, but the stock spur is just fine so far.
Traxxas Bluetooth module, GNSS performance analyzer. Both are great for recording speed, and other telemetry, Traxxas Bluetooth lets you make rate and gyro adjustments from your phone.
You can't really. Just like a real full sized car, you have to shed speed in order to corner. Unless you have down force, but even then there are limits.
Get the LCG chassis kit. It drops the chassis down 1.3 inches and really improves handling / reduces flipping. Why Traxxas doesn't just use the LCG chassis right out of the box baffles me.
Does it side roll like the other slashes ? Im new to rc and choosing btween a gorgon and a slash xl 5 (will be monster slash hehe). Should i just get the bl 2s ? It doesnt come with charger and battery but i want to start in lipo rightaway anyway.
Short course trucks in general will roll a bit on high grip surfaces, some more or less so than others. Personally I like the BL-2S slashes, they are replacing the XL-5 versions and they are a bit faster out of the box, and I think they handle really well on 2s lipos.

That isn't a lame question. But, you're correct, to break with a pistol grip RC radio you push forward, after the car stops you let the trigger return to neutral, then push forward again and it becomes reverse.
