Nice one again! By complete coincidence I was looking into the difference between a center diff and a slipper clutch about 30 mons before your release (still kinda new to the rc hobby). Good to see it's a easy change. Considering it for our rustler, slash and stoss
Great vid. I need to get this for my Rally that I put a Maxx 4s motor and ESC in. I had the old center diff in it that was flat and an Integy motor mount brace. Thanks again. I won't need the aluminum center diff bearing upgrade with this either. This ought to serve me well on 3s.
Since I already had the old style center diff in my Rally, I opted to order Hot Racing 32P Steel Center Diff Spur Gear for Traxxas Slash 4x4 (54T) and Traxxas Aluminum Slipper Shaft Bearing Adapter w/Bearing (Blue), to save some money. We'll see how it goes.
Was wondering if I could get a parts break down for the VXL upgrade? Things needed besides TQI the motor/esc? I am getting the transmitter and receiver, but unsure if I should get the wireless module too. Thank you! I look forward to upgrading soon.
Besides the Motor and ESC (VXL kit), I’d switch out the spur and pinion as well 13/54. The Link Module helps with setting end points, but that’s all you need to upgrade the SLASH.
Great video! How long did it take for you to toast the bearing that was on the slipper clutch assembly? Do you think that was related to the wet grass you mentioned?
I run Proline Gladiators outdoor on a loose track. When you find a suitable clay track tire for the Slash would you mind posting what kind and where you got them? Thanks!
Did you put vxl diffs on it?? I ran mine with a hobby wing 3s set up and I melted the slipper clutch spacer and bearing to the spring, and idk if the diffs also could be damaged, I haven’t upgraded any internals other than electronics atm. Also is there a fix to my spacer melting to the spring?
Good question, they don’t make VXL diffs. I’ve never melted the bearing carrier on the slipper clutch. That sounds like the bearing could have been bad and got very hot. Same with axles, if the bearing is bad (rough spots when you spin by hand, or torn seal) it will ruin the axle.
@@redbanditracing thank you for the info, I’m not entirely sure as to how I did it but the spring that sits on the spacer and bearing for the slipper clutch just melted and it wasn’t able to put the power to the wheels anymore and seemed to be locking up, guess that was my culprit. I’m going to try and solve this issue with a metal spacer and new bearing and new center drive shaft that isn’t the plastic one

Haha glad it helped thank you for watching. The center diff is always a great upgrade. It really does help take the stress off the axles.
That looks like a easy upgrade, awesome!!
You shoulda got an ultimate with LCG chassis
Great video. Im waiting for the rustler video!
Thank you, and Rustler video is in the lineup. Same time next week 😉

I’d do some research on it, but I was always told not to put WD40 on plastic because it makes it brittle
WD40 is safe for plastic, it actually absorbs into the plastic and helps it become a little more resilient to harsh landings or bashing.

Let us know how that works out, should be fine.

@ with the 6780 correct? Thank you so much for your help. I can’t wait to see this thing rip.
When you say fill it up do you mean all the way? I’m new to RC differentials but with normal cars you want to leave room for thermal expansion
Yes, you are correct. We always fill it to the cross bars that hold the slider gears. We have several other diff service videos you can check out.
Nice update

We rarely damage those bearings, when they do go bad it’s always because of moisture setting in.
@@redbanditracing Ok gotcha:) Thanks for the info. The same bearing went bad on my Slash 4WD.

Definitely will, I’ll check the Gladiators out.

I think I did the same thing to my Slash 4x4 VXL. What did you end up doing to fix this? The bearing looks messed up too on mine.
Works with stock pinion gear on motor ?
Yes
@@redbanditracing Ty. Just ordered this. Do you know which diff fluid it uses?
He has a video of how his bl-2s is modified?
Who has a video?
@@redbanditracing You have video as you have modified the bl-2s currently?
