If I had one “medicine” to take with me anywhere in the world to heal people it would be food. My patients are often shocked and surprised when their “incurable illnesses” are healed by a change in diet.
It seems almost magical. But real food contains thousands of molecules, each designed to regulate and optimize the functions of your body-your gene expression, hormones, brain chemistry, immune system, gut microbiome, and more.
My own journey sifting through nutritional literature and getting caught in the middle of the nutrition wars led me to create the Pegan Diet. It represents a middle ground based on science and is infused with common sense that accommodates a wide variety of eating styles and preferences while doing good for your taste buds, your body, the earth, and our society.
In this video, I explain some of my basic Pegan principles and the power of using food as medicine.

Bilyeu then turned his attention to the other pandemic facing society, the poverty of poor mindset and co-founded the media studio, Impact Theory with his business partner and wife, Lisa Bilyeu. A friend of the family is an Allergist MD. I asked him if any of his patients are allergic to meat or fowl and he said no, that is almost unheard of. I asked then what are they allergic to and he said, they are allergic to wonderful wholesome plant based goodies like tree pollen, ragweed, mold form leaves, poison ivy, peanuts, citrus fruits, strawberries, high oxalate greens, soy products, wheat gluten, nightshade vegetables, natural bee stings and the list goes on.

I like how Dr. Hyman does not set up camp on one particular side I.E. vegan or carnivore so many of these food doctors are more committed to their ideology as the cure rather than listening to there patients.

Thanks for this presentation and for your enthusiasm for health via food.
Some people are healthy vegans. Some people are healthy, eating certain grains and beans.
    Others not.
At about 29:00, the interviewer brought up a good question (from my point of view):
could the blood type be a factor?
    What do you think?
    Is this possible?

Hi Mark, interesting podcast! Every story you tell I get healthier from. My own view point is, your body has a main rule#101 that ph must be about 7.45 in clean blood. Why would we eat out of balance. Ok, what do I mean. Protiens and mast grain carbs are acidic. Most greens and veggies are alkaline. If you balance the ph the blood stays near 7.45. If you eat acidically your body retrieves alkaloids from elsewhere in the body to balance the ph, BUT in doing so depletes alkaloids. These alkaloids are all anti inflammatories and are negatively charges. The negative charge is attracted to burnt foods residing in cells as acids which are positively charged. Electrically unlike charges are attracted to each other. Eat the wrong way and the body gets out of balance and then craves the thing it needs until you stumble onto it. Yes we are so far from our instinctive food preferences.
Oh, ph, it's all about balancing the positive and negative charges. Remember all things living are from Hydrogen the simplest atom.

Love and respect this man for years now. A ton of logic and never one for the status quo. Unfortunately, weirdly, we/people, require/NEED medical specialists to tell us what’s best for our diet. That’s not a good sign guys. Animals NEVER, EVER needed that. One thing no one can argue.

Actually no...Not everyone can produce the enzymes necessary to process plant nutrients.
Genetically I can not get several critical nutrients like B12, Folate, etc from plants, quickly becoming seriously anemic & unable to methylate among other issues.
I need to eat a lot of red meat & fatty fish to stay healthy. Quality matters especially in meats & veggies.

    • @cindyn628

@@sylwormley I have the MTHFR mutation and do not have to eat those things necessarily, to be able to process B12 and folate. What I do need to do, however, is take a supplement with methylated B12 and folate.

    • @sylwormley

@@cindyn628 I am happy for you that you can. Are you homozygous or heterozygous? My husband is heterozygous & he does not have near the problems that I do processing, greens especially. Of course, I also am homozygous for most of the major gene SNIPS, COMT, MTRR, etc. Just saying biology is unique & most health care providers, even Dr. Hyman admit that eventually they have to give up a vegan diet for health issues..... that does not mean huge hunks of steak every night either.
