In this video I give you a full walkthrough of installing a Glowworm Compact combi boiler.
The boiler install took one day including a hot flush at the end of the job.

06:10 Flue
06:52 Pipework
13:23 Wiring
14:49 Cementing

17:30 Final Checks
I have no idea how I ended up here but couldn't stop watching defo nice to listen to lol and I learned how to mount a boiler to wall
Absolutely brilliant install mate. Well done on using your initiative with the bracket situation 👍
I love the way you knocked out the cement for the flue 👍
Yeah the SDS makes it so much easier!
Great job as always 👌
cracking content as always like how you keep it so simple pressing not stressing lol 👌👊
Haha! Glad you enjoyed the video Mike💪
Great video buddy keep them coming 👍
Will do!💪
Nice one. I always bash in plugs with the back of my Milwaukee impact, its got a flat surface and does a perfect job!
Haha, yeah I use the back of my impact a lot as well
Nice one have seen some of ur videos all are lovely
Nice one mister 👍🏻
Thanks Robert!💪
Nice one , I don’t like the pipe layout on those new GW’s , my go to landlord boiler is the Baxi 400 , it’s nice and light and a doddle to fit on a swop...
Cheers. 👍
Its all in the book and the template fitted my first one the other day and it was simple
That’s so strange, I didn’t see it. I must be blind. Did you also have the template for the EcoFit pure in there?
@@advancedboilertraining No i don't think i did maybe you had an early version or something? Seems like a good landlord boiler i just didn't like pipe layout
They keep sending them out with the Energy Template instead of the Compact. Thankfully it's light enough you can sling 2 screws in normally, hang it, measure and then adjust.
Nice install and good catch on the return/cold, the amount of times people have phoned technical over it's is amusing to say the least, but it's the only boiler in their entire line up like it.
It's bad practice to use black as neutral post colour change in 2004 - heaven forbid you end up on a commercial job where someone has mixed up black/blue - neutral/ Phase 3.
Nice work mate👊. Fitting one in my own house as Navian has gone up in price. Shame really, like the Navian. Would be a Baxi 800 if i wasnt such a tight ass 😂.
Also don’t use grease on Glowworm or vaillants it kills the seals, use water only, it states so in the manuals
Great video thanks. Yes Glow-worm compact, slightly odd fixing arrangements with the pipes and its not clear any where in the manual or the useless template for the markings for the flue. No brackets supplied with these the wall bracket is part of the boiler. Can be difficult to hang. 🤔. I suppose to save money/manufacturing costs, we may see this more and more.
But how much does it really save the manufactures to not make a small piece of metal for the bracket 😂
Yeah definitely agree. A little akward on your Tod . Also cold feed and return are swap over for some reason
Cracking job man. ❤ shame you had to make your own template
Impact driver battery = hammer 😊
Haha yeah I use my impact battery a lot as well!
Building regs don't allow that 75 deg temp to the heating, you must use the new lower temperature to make the boiler condensate more and cost the occupier less to run.
yes, and in the meantime the gas companies have tripled the gas rates
Fitted one a few months back, wouldn’t fit another one to be honest, mainly because of the pipe lay out and the lack of bracket, the ultimate from city plumbing is a better option, less money than the energy and virtually the same boiler with up to ten years warranty
Yeah i agree, there’s definitely better options
Great upload, does the return pipe come with the boiler?
Na it comes separately
I had to install this crappy boiler the other week as its small, its the only one that could fit.
My template had the same picture of the actual bracket.
Its still hard to do because if the wall is bad or you go bent with a screw the boiler wont be level.
Hey! I have this exact boiler with F.22 error 0.0 bar pressure but i cant figure how to repressurise? My landlord isnt getting back to me and we have no hot water 😢
The new Worcester is a better fit I think. I’ve put a few of these compacts in and I’m not sure I will again now the Worcester is out, I don’t even like worcesters!
😊
That pipe layout what we're they thinking
You didn't mention if you flushed the system before installing the new boiler I presume you did.
Think it’s a good landlord boiler but don’t really like the return/cold set up
Glow warm boiler burner anti cycling activated. Boiler turn on for 3min then off for 10min. Radiator never heat up. All radiator work perfectly work on P02 program for 15 min. D002 setting done at different level. Any one here to help please.
what exactly did you do mate at 16.54 did you just unscrew it?
The small red link he unscrewed, you just remove that completely and tighten the screws back up.
What do expect it’s £600 quid
Are they noisy running , very small boiler 👍
Na they’re not nosy at all when running
No clips, how come ?
What’s this wire stripper bro?
Knipex I think
Great video, noticed a few mistakes. The condensation pipe needs to be insulated with a 19mm thick 0 class insulation and insulation starting from inside going through the wall. I know it would look awful, but that's the current standards. It even shows in the installation manual. ESI programmable wireless thermostat installed on Glow-worm boiler doesn't comply with Boiler Plus scheme. ESI has integrated load compression option through open therm, however the Glow-worm, Vaillant doesn't support open therm communication protocol. The only way to comply with regulations is additionaly to install outside sensor and that way you can use ESI controller with weather compensation.
What's the difference bettween load compensation, hot water priority & weather compensation? All Combi's are effectivly hot water priority right? It's only on S plan system boiler set ups you have to switch to that right?
Are you saying that both Glowworm & Valliant don't support opentherm? Even the re mastered? Is that why you always should use Vaillant controls when going vaillant / glow worm?
Weirdly enough, Vaillant boilers can only work in weather compensating mode/setup with Vaillant controls. However, Glow-worm con work in weather compensating mode/setup with third-party controls.
wrong tamplate was supplied
Some clips wouldn’t have hurt
Glow worm make some nice boilers but I don’t know what they were thinking with this garbage 😂
When you try to comment the over heat expansion valve outlet there is nothing?
Just a plain outlet.
It states place an air vented vent to atmosphere.
That cannot be right.
Just an unthreaded outlet?
I fitted a tundish as instructed in manufacturer instruction.
Yes it works but not what l expected?
Need better information.
looks to me that it's not the correct template for that boiler, or was there another template printed on the other side?. The manual does say on page 18 / 19 that the screws used must be 6mm diameter which I believe is 12 gauge and shows bolts being used.
Gas safe inspectors will check that the condensate is installed correctly but if you use 40mm waste then no insulation is required. Also the hot water pipe requires insulating under the building regs.
A Magnaclean filter is a much better product and allows for easy addition of inhibitor, which we are all checking the concentration of on each service ( We are aren't we?)
Overall it is the usual poor quality Vaillant / Glow worm manual, I won't be buying this boiler.
Great video - thanks. Can you provide your contact details? You seem to be in East London area??
Watch for the foam on back of the boiler and the plastic under tray when soldering, poor poor design all round for this model , fitted my first last week and my very last unfortunately
Yeah I don’t think I’ll be installing this boiler again either
Awful boiler lol, I did one and never again 🤣
Awful boiler
Will never fit again
No built in filling loop then mate?
Great job as always 👌
Great job as always 👌
