Holy crap I've been listening to this since I was a freaking kid and I never knew the lead singer was black. That's freaking awesome. Hella hella love this song❤
Dang, the song I Believe” tells you he was a black lead vocalist. The lyric, “her dad will not just see me as a black man”. Yes, Hootie was not the only black man fronting a white band. It’s just Hootie got way more publicity. Oh, the other group was Counting Crows. There were three bands like that in the 90s. Personally, I don’t give a crap. All three groups made awesome music.
I heard this song one day in Walmart and looked up the words “She Likes Me for Me” and had no idea it was done by the same band that did “Brother My Brother” from Pokémon The First Movie.
Ok, I'm gonna have to turn in my 90's kid card. I had no idea the band that sang this song was the same band that sang "I Believe"! Where have I been?!
One of the greatest songs. Ever written..❤ thank you guys.

Huh counting crows with a black lead singer?? He's not black ... I believe he is Jewish Adam Duritz.
RIGHT?!? Mind blown
Really? They have a song about it
why is that "freaking awesome?"
2024 and I’m still listening to this
I just heard this for the first time, and now I've bought "Walking Off The Buzz"... Love it!
Have you been living under a rock or are you a ROCK?
One of their BEST albums for sure. I think "Real Good Friends" "South Hampton Avenue" and "Walking Off The Buzz" are REALLY underrated songs.
Hello childhood, it's ya boy. 25 years is a long time. I miss you
This video always cracks me up! Love this one.
GOD BLESS all of you forty-somethings that were lucky enough to be a young adult in the late '90s....it was awesome 💯
one of the best video clips ever...
I forgot about this song and it popped into my head today
Me too!
Me too. Found out the lead singer is Black. Go figure.
"The things that we're afraid of are gonna show us what we're made of in the end" is such an amazing, underrated lyric

I saw them at a show in 99 with a lot of different artists. They were the most memorable and were the best.

Someone needs to do a TF2 Scout AI cover of this (with a Pink As Hell paint-themed SFM thumbnail). Great song :D.
