The closest thing we’ll ever have to a Time Machine is music. This song brings me back to a time when I had not a worry in the world. And everything was so innocent.
Couldn’t agree more!!!
That’s why they say the music you listened to growing up will be the music you cherish the rest of your life. Glad I was born in 90
I absolutely agree, I remember this song well in highschool , I'm a millennial, loved this song and this genre of music. Not a worry in the world at all, we didnt have all the whackos we have now and all this chaos. Ppl got along . Wish wer could return to that time.
Heard that, big dawg
It's was PI..pre-internet which pretty much screwed up everything!
In my opinion, end of 90's and the transitional of early 2000's are everything. Bands are coming from all direction... It was a blessed that you could hear that the radio and billboard chart would be bombared with fantastic songs every single weekend... pop, rock, alt rocks, metal, punk, ballads, boy group, girl group... you name it. It was gold time to grow up. Less toxic, too
Back before everyone knew what auto tune was and used it to compensate for not being able to sing 🤷♂️
@@fariin2174 yup... with the song material and personal vocal, back then - these things alone either make you swim or sink. Autotune are nice 'ummph' featurettes; but it tend to be so icky when you couldn't 'feel' the authenticity of the real voice at times. In addition, the small little details on marketing are essentially gimmick... press loves that. Just act crazy, and you'll be on top! Thus, the mediocre one goes everywhere within the chart and the good singer-songwriter are left unnoticed
People actually writing music and playing instruments lol take me back
@@fariin2174 personally I do think autotune can be used in good ways, like for people who want to create but don't quite have the vocals. it's only a crutch. though it's definitely different if they don't even write their own music
Yup! So true you nailed it!!!!
Just saw Tal sing this along with his dad on the 2024 Rock and Romance 70’s cruise! FABULOUS!!!
He is so much better than his Dad. I am not a fan of his Dad's music. Tal is definitely taking care of business with this song.

Need to dig deeper into Dad's history.

Hearing this song makes me think of my Mom, who unfortunately passed away almost 10 years ago at the age of 44. "She's So High Above Me & Watching Down On Me!!" I love u Mom ❤❤❤❤

At 34, i now realize how i took these times for granted. What i would do to go back and re-live the past. RIP to everyone ive lost along the way... what i would do to see you all again and get a chance just to cherish a few more minutes with you all!
I found her. She was so high above me, then we got married. Best 11 years of my life. Unfortunately she passed at 42 years of age. But I will never forget those 11 years. I bothered, I offered and she accepted. Don't ever underestimate yourself. Thanks everyone for being supportive. You make the world a better place.
Sad to hear that.
You will be together again. We are spirits having a human experience. We never die... only the body dies. The spirit lives forever. Love and hugs to you.

the 90s should have never ended
The 90s should've started later! I missed all of it, I was born at the end of 1999. Some people just get all the luck, while others end up deprived.
yes I think the world needs to take vacations back to the 90s every now and then
+Percy Jackson Son of Neptune I was born in Aug of 1997. I was born towards the end of the 90's. I couldn't remember much until about 2001/2002. I know the feeling!
+Christian Mohr They were a great time in music --
just after modern rock/pop/etc music had had a few generations to mature and percolate with great ideas, producing a great generation of singers, guitarists, drummers, songwriters, and artists in general
and just before people produced entire records on laptops
leaving a great proprietary blend of musical ideas complete with emotion and integrity, with the kind of subconscious mystique that keeps a lot of the songs relevant for decades
Michael Neppel I hate my generations music. anything past 2005 I pretty much don't like,,at all. 90s seemed cool, early internet, I like their fashion sense ( particularly Grunge and grunge music) movies, idk things from what ive seen and heard, just seems like ti was a better time.
Who's listening in 2024?

I graduated high school in 1995. This video makes me so nostalgic and extremely emotional(idk why lol). The clothes, the scenery, the sound, the hairstyles, all of it just screams the late 90s. I was lucky enough to go from teenager to young woman in this “era”. I really do miss it. ❤❤ this song now just as much as 1999.
Can’t we just re-do the 90s - early 2000s all over again

Nah, the paradox would kill us all

Such a sweet song.
You sure don't have to be a millennial to appreciate it's simplicity!
I was 29, a new Dad, and sang this song to my wife when she came home with our son. Three months ago we are leaving a movie with my now 15 year old son and grab a bite to eat next door where in they have a small karaoke rig. On a whim I step up and sing it again... before its over, teenage girls are dancing by their booths, my wife is beaming sunshine from her eyes, and my too embarrassed to show his face son is smiling ear to ear because he had nooooo idea his Dad could sing.
Cool....and there's nothing else like family. Good man.
Touching story -well done. Keep living in the moment - it is priceless

We're all strange when we're young.
Dear lord.... I was 10 years old when this song was released. I remember SPECIFICALLY where I was when I first heard it. In the car, with my dad driving, and they said on the radio "Now for the single from rising artist Tal Bachman... "She's So High". My dad, knowing that i was a big BTO fan at the time, looked over at me and said "This is Randy Bachman's son". Then he adjusted the volume knob and turned it up. What followed for the next 4 minutes was complete silence as we listened to one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. To hear it now, 17 years later.... and to remember all the little parts about the song that I loved, particularly the guitar sounds he makes at 1:20-1:25, and then again at 1:30-1:35.... brings back instant nostalgia and I have tears in my eyes. I feel as if music has really lost this magic nowadays. You can't even turn on the radio without being subjected to all kinds of controversial and questionable bullshit. Just my opinion of course
That was beautiful

+aimee van wijk That's how I felt back in the day when I first heard the song. Just goosebumps everywhere. We are all 90's kids
it was a fun time - i was in middle school when this song came out - the 2000s were a LOT of fun too - 2000-2004 was a great time to be in high school
@@weston407 I agree. 2000s were great too! Specially summer times. Quenching your thirst with popsicles or ice candies ☀️
Tal explained the backstory to this song long ago. When in high school trying to figure out where you stand in the status quo can really mess with your head. You really think that people actually give a crap about the choices you make. So you see a girl in school you really like but are too afraid to approach her because you may think that she is “too good” for your status. You want to ask her out to the school dance. Instead you keep your distance instead of taking a chance at rejection. Then you come to find out that she was sad because NO ONE asked her to the dance. Teach your kids about these things so they aren’t afraid of swinging the bat. Hit or miss at least they know instead of contemplating what if.
Yep. When I was 16 there was this dream girl in school that I could never get the courage to talk to...
Many many many years later bumped into her at a pub, we were both older and settled down, but she said tocme that she always wished I would have made a move back then :-(
I did teach my boys that lesson. To this day, I have not seen a girl or woman - model, actress, singer, etc. - better looking than my high school pine.
I taught my brother this. Now the kids in his class refer to him as a 'simp'
my mom taught me the same nonsense about hot girls not getting asked out. So I flirted and asked out as many as I could. Turns out...the only hot girls who EVER sat home alone? their personality SUCKED. oh, some were nice and shy, but that still doesn't make them much fun, being quiet and repressed on a date and insecure about everything they do. But most of the lonely girls were the real bitches or truly hot messes--once you looked past the makeup and short dresses and such to see the real person.
I don't know about anyone else's school, but I never saw the beautiful girls go alone to any dance. That's because there's always an attractive boy, who grew up with girls chasing him. He doesn't ask out beautiful women out of confidence--he does it because he doesn't know what rejection is. He's always had a neighborhood girl, or a sister's friend, or a girl at summer camp, trying to get some "alone time" with him, always coming to his aid when he's sad hoping it will work for them.
But I did get into the friend zone alot by asking. Beautiful women get hit on constantly, and some can respect a guy who has the guts to ask them out, isn't old enough to be their dad, is RESPECTFUL once getting shot down, isn't treating them like a "Score" but a real human being, and so on.
I'll stick to staring from the distance 👍
It's safe over there xD
This song is so melodic and well-written. I love his voice.
I havent heard this song in decades.
"She's So High" is a power pop song written and performed by Canadian singer-songwriter Tal Bachman. It was released as a single to North American radio on February 13, 1999, from his self-titled debut album. The song peaked at number three in Canada, topped the US Billboard Adult Top 40 chart, and reached number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also became a top-10 hit in Australia and New Zealand and peaked at number 30 in the United Kingdom.

Notice how most of these songs have zero swear words in them and all mostly positive messages or a song about a girl. But not about the break up, just more about the emotional aspect. No drugs, no booty dancers. This kind of music should never go out of style. And it never will.

You're implying just because a song is about drugs or had swearwords, it's bad. That's an incredibly ignorant outlook. Look at "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen, which is about doing drugs and having sex and is considered a classic.

💜💚❤👊💛💙
I wish the 90's made a comeback. Like maybe some sort of 90's renaissance.
I think it might, when people realize what a waste of time social media is, and that technology has gone way too far in controlling people's lives. That's why the 90s was much more creative than today, people wern't glued to their phones 24/7.
The game’s changed, man. Really what the OP wants is a pre-9/11 world. Me too- I miss those days and it’s a drag that there are kids walking around that have never known a time when the US wasn’t at war with someone.
Technology is the real blame to me. I honestly believe it changed people's mindsets and priorities in life. 1990 and 1999 were like two different worlds. By the end of the decade it was already starting to go wrong with technology taking over.
+Michael G True, you can't walk five feet without seeing someone with their nose in their phone.
Yeah- you’re def right about 1990 and 1999 being completely different culturally- the importance of the rise of the internet cannot be overstated.
This song gets played a ton at Marshalls.
+DMVNumbers Page It's like the anthem of every store and shopping mall ever
+DMVNumbers Page That's honestly why I'm here, aha
+DMVNumbers Page the bowling alley i frequent plays it a lot
I just randomly pulled this up on a one hit wonders playlist and this played at office Max when I worked there.
Among the other one hit wonders from the 90s
I think that's where these stores got their playlists 😂
cuz it's a good song!
This was always on the radio when it 1st came out and at one point as a child I got tired of it but now I smile and reminisce of the 90s and being a little girl ❤
I just want it to be this era of music again. Me cruising in my Kenworth, driving through Michigan, making deliveries, listening to the best era of music ❤
one thing I miss about the 90s we didn't care when we set little girls flying into the air by balloons we just waved goodbye. oh you the good old days.
Cleaning them off the pavement afterwards was a hassle, though...
not really as long you get enough people to piss it away no problem
i didnt see u in the 90s
chownful you didn't see me in the 90s? Do you see me now? Where are you watching me from?
wickedsmiler i see u now on the youtubes
When he sings "like cleopatra" anyone else always wanted to sing "comin' atcha" it would fit so perfectly - that's like my entire memory of this song.

Game grumps
LMAOOOOO now you've ruined this song for me and I'll only picture those little girls.
The actress is the lovely Yvonne Scio. I fell in love with her after she was a guest star on two episodes of LaFemme Nikita. Such a beautiful woman with soft glowing eyes.
Tal was waaaaay ahead of his time. A pop oddity, refreshing, and uncharacteristically optimistic for the time.
I've had this song in my head without knowing any of the lyrics and I tried looking it up before many times. But now, after all the times that I've searched, UA-cam recommended this video to me and my 13 years of searching for this song have finally ended.
i bet that feels amazing
I'm playing this on repeat. This reminds me so much of my first crush. I thought she was so much better than me and out of my league. 30 years later all I can do is laugh and be thankful of the major bullet I dodged.
Why though? :D
She’s high society. She’s got the best of everything
All the cool kids still listening in 2021
Almost 60, but still a kid
Guess that makes me cool
66 here, this song is fking lovely.....
I don't recall ever hearing this before, to be honest..
Im 15!!!
I feel very lucky growin up in the 90´s. It was the BEST!
Marcel Kania I wish I did I just have to be the only who understands good music in my generation
What I like about this song is its fantastic phrasing. It's amazing how the lyrics might look clunky, but the singer just makes it musical and smooth, making perfect sense. That's artistry.
That singer that you mentioned just happens to be the son of Randy Bachman from Bachman Turner Overdrive. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Seems to be true in this case.
There's something beautiful about a song that takes you back in time. I felt like I was back in the year 1999 for a moment haha.
One of the songs that i'll never get tired of listening
👍💜💚❤💛💙💨
There was this girl in my class... the perfect opposit of me. Pretty, top of the class, graceful, good at sports, smile of an angel... *sighs deeply*
I know how you feel bro
I feel you too fam
Emphasizing 'opposite'. So true
I feel you. I know a senior boy. So populat and athletic and im a potato
+thedragon133 my advice: go on with your life.. strive to be the best version of yourself.. stay humble of course.. under promise and over deliver.. anything will follow.. don't look at yourself as if you're a loser.. being successful is a choice.. being a loser is also a choice.. that girl in your class will someday look at you and be proud of what you have become..
I just heard this song for the first time! I love it!!!
Just learned who his daddy is...
Love this and I'm in my sixties!
10-year old me was very proud of understanding the references to Cleopatra, Joan d'Arc and Aphrodite.
Amen love you meme Elizabeth and marilyn lady pearl diana
I learned who Cleopatra was because of this song
Joan Of Arc not Joan D'Arc.....fixed it for ya.
@@FlyerHockeyPride honestly it's not. Only the English speaking people say that. Her original name is Jeanne D'Arc so...
Cleopatra was a piece of trash
I know this is supposed to be about a crush, but I always associated it with my grandmother after she passed away. She is my role model and when I heard "She's so high" it made me think of where she is now. I never fail to either feel really happy or really sad when this comes on. I'm in the class of 2020 and our graduation was inside with a few at a time and while I was waiting to go in, this came on the radio. She was at my graduation, you guys. It finally hit me tonight and now I can't stop balling my eyes out. I love you, Grandma Caryol. I know you're always watching me. 😇😇😇❤❤❤
For me it’s a mix of a girl who I dated that died in a car crash a few years back. She was my first love, and we remained steadfast friends for years after we broke up. We moved on, but now she is high above me. Love and miss you Kinsey ❤️ rest easy
@@Glaedrein That's so sad! Much love and healing to you. Kinsey sounds super special and I bet she looks after you all the time. Hugs! 🕊💖❤💫
You had a crush on your grandma?
@@TGBurgerGaming No, I just like to remember her. You can have deep connections with family, but obviously my connection with her was never romantic, just super supportive. She's my guardian angel who helps me out from the other side. I see her as my protector and my ancestor that I owe most of my life to.
childhood growing up hearing this song, feels good to know how good life was when this came out.
Listened this in 2010 and now again today. Still beautiful ❤️
His voice during the verses is so delicate and genuine and sweet
1:49 that clown went on to become the Joker
And the little girl became Harley Quinn!
😂😂😂
"you want to know how I got these scars"
and the kid meant to have those balloons went without that day....
Yep so damn cool never gets old play it over and over love this music.Makes me smile so awesome so good .Enjoy my friends and share it forever.
Thought we would’ve seen more hits from this guy , very talented
Yeah so bad. He got stuck in a contract and they did not want to push him. All the momentum fell flat after this
It's a shame so many agents producers have destroyed many music careers
💜💚👍💛💙❤
Who else really really misses the 90s?
yeah i miss the 80's too
Oh wait
wut?
blushes
Me.
samdiego me T_T
indeed better times than now
I do!!!
She's blood, flesh and bone
No tucks or silicone
She's touch, smell, sight, taste, and sound
But somehow I can't believe
That anything should happen
I know where I belong
And nothing's going to happen, yeah
'Cause she's so high
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra
Joan of Arc
Or Aphrodite
Da-da-da-da-da
She's so high
High above me
First class and fancy free
She's high society
She's got the best of everything
What could a guy like me
Ever really offer
She's perfect as she can be
Why should I even bother?
'Cause she's so high
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra
Joan of Arc
Or Aphrodite
Da-da-da-da-da
She's so high
High above me
She comes to speak to me
I freeze immediately
'Cause what she says sounds so unreal
'Cause somehow I can't believe
That anything should happen
I know where I belong
And nothing's going to happen, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
'Cause she's so high
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra
Joan of Arc
Or Aphrodite
Oh, yeah
She's so high
High above me
This failure literally wasted his time to paste lyrics lol
thank you 4 taking the time to put up the lyrics!!
Lovely! The words are lovely! And the video! Thank you for posting the lyrics. Have a great day!

@@asuraspath2262 because...?
What happened to that time in the world? The country was united, people were sane. There was no recession, no war, no inflation, no social media. Let that sink in and may it bring you peace ✌️
I think you were not in touch with the world then, always shit like that on the go...but it is worse now.
@@MagnumPEI1 it wasnt as excessive like it is now.
Social media might not have been there, but everything else was still prevalent. Everyone was just paying attention to other things.
@@MakeMeCare89 yep, modern times doesn't mean better times
It's like 80's. We just didn't know how good we had it. I loved the 90s too. I was in my early twenties with no responsibilities!
I saw him play this live 2 weeks ago (March2024) and he was great. He played with BTO his dad’s band.
Get to see them in July, can't wait! Happy you got to see them brother!!🤙🤗💯
