  • If your LG dryer is making a thumping, screeching, banging, or other noise, this video should help you find a solution to solve the issue. I show you how to fully disassemble the LG dryer and look at the primary culprits of where noise can come from such as the LG dryer roller wheels, the LG dryer idler pulley, and the LG dryer blower wheel and other such parts, along with generally how to replace some of the items too.
    Also mentioned are less likely culprits such as an oval drum, or a damaged bulkhead/drum felt system.

    I excel in disassembly, but this video was invaluable for reassembly.
    Damn thing started screaming like a banshee one day; turns out the pulley wheel broke clean off, and you had a link right there in the description for me. And the new one has an upgraded bearing!
    Thank you!!!

    Took about 5 hours from start to finish, but without this invaluable video guide, it would have taken longer and could easily have ended with the purchase of a new dryer. Instead, I found the seized roller in the back that was caused the terrible noises and replaced them all, plus the belt and tensioner. I took the opportunity to meticulously clean out all the lint and dust and replaced the nasty vent hood outside. I only had one extra screw when I was done and wiring harness plug that seemed to have nowhere to plug into, but I don’t think it was plugged into anything to begin with. Thank you for your integral help with a successful Saturday project and saving me over $600!

    Thanks to this great tutorial, I ordered the dryer repair kit for $30 and kept my wife from pushing me towards a $1700 stacked washer/dryer set. My main issue appeared to be that a chunk of rubber was missing off of one of the 4 rubber wheels. Some didn't turn the best so I replaced those too along with the idler pully and belt. I only ended up having two extra screws so not bad at all:)

    Really appreciate this video. My dryer was making a moaning noise. I found your video, ordered parts, and within 36 hours had my dryer back online. My problem was that one of the front drum rollers had seized. I replaced all the rollers, tensioner, and belt. Thanks again.

    Excellent video. My model is slightly different, but 95% the same. My dryer rumbled and made noise for some time (about 4 months). I shaked it, I tapped on it, and tried different drying settings before I got the balls to attack it. Well, this video was very help. Two rollers were seized (front and back). Belt pully was observed to be bent and slight tear in the belt. I changed all 4 rollers, belt, spring, and pully. I cleaned all the lent too 😀

    I had a gas heater element that was a little different than what I believe to be an electric heater element in your video. I just needed to unscrew (2 screws) the heater “tube” and pull it out from the rear bulk head. In order to get to those 2 screws, I did have to remove the gas jet (2 screws). GREAT VIDEO! Saved me a bunch of much needed dough!

    Great video! These Lg Steam dryers are pretty neat! Definitely looking forward to buying one. I work on washer and dryers as a side hustle and I genuinely like working on LG units. LG stuff seems well made. Just sold a 2006 LG washer that had all the features like LED drum light and a steam injection system. Still worked SO well! Very impressive

      Same with my experience - they go bad, but tend to go bad at a "better' rate than anything else you're gonna find at a big box store. Usually no horiffic board malfunctions, and the spider brackets are a little better in my experience. Their pumps seem a little bit more failure-prone, but are insanely cheap to swap and are the most basic universal type on the market.

  • @thruthebook
    @thruthebook 2 місяці тому

    Well, I'm still having a problem. Something is causing the roller wheels at the front side of the dryer to rub, leaving plastic dust. It makes a thumping noise when the dryer is running. Something is causing the front roller wheels to rub. I can't see what it is. That was the original problem when I first replaced the roller wheels.

    You dont have to remove control board and steam system along with rails in order to remove drum on this model.

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  Рік тому +1

      Theoretically no. But I figured that I'd have as many people complain if I didnt remove the rails because it'd be a tight fit. May as well show near-total-disassembly rather than bare minimum.

    Nice vid! What's been your experience with non OE rollers? I see the ones linked above appear to be 3rd party? Amazon's chinesium kit reviews are littered with bad experiences on 3rd party roller failure.

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  9 місяців тому +1

      Hey that's a fantastic question.
      There are only 2 or 3 roller manufacturers in the world really.
      Amazon and generally supco get them from 1 factory. That one is horrible and very suspect on longevity. The tolerances for the rubber are poor and can break easily.
      The second factory and third one tend to be the ones that OEMs use. Additionally, I know ERP uses these factories. Those ones last way longer. You will not find a deal on them because they cost more at wholesale than the Supco/Amazon ones, but will last longer for sure. Choice parts versions, I think are some where in the middle but I need to test them more.

    • @jeffn8000
      @jeffn8000 9 місяців тому +1

      @@bensappliancesandjunk Thanks for the insight on mfgs! I seem to be challenged finding a ERP supplier of LG wheels. Could you be so kind as to link in the one you use? I see a lot of supco stuff and a lot choice parts stuff...for some reason ERP is hard to locate. EDIT / ah, I see you've linked to your own parts website. But you're selling Choice parts but 'you need to test them more'? Curious. Choice parts do seem to have a reasonable rep as lots of the bigger appliance parts sites carry them. I ended up finding a reasonable price on LG OE rollers so I went with those - hard to argue with factory stuff that's lasted 10+ years.
