  • If you own a Samsung dryer that is making strange noises, its very important that you fix it before it gets much worse, because your dryer can end up having a failure that results in the Samsung dryer not starting, or won't turn on.
In this video, I will show you the 4 most common parts that fail - the Samsung Dryer Idler Pulley, the Samsung Dryer Roller Wheels, and the Samsung Dryer blower assembly, which are almost always the issues, as well as a few minor issues, too. You'll find out how exactly to do a Samsung Dryer Roller Replacement, too.
This video is the 2nd of a 4-part set of videos on Samsung Front Load Dryer repair videos. I spent 2 days tearing this unit apart, and filming all the typical errors you'd find on such a unit.

Any idea how long it takes to ship to Canada? Are these OEM parts? Thanks!

    • @bensappliancesandjunk
      @bensappliancesandjunk  2 роки тому +3

@@nmckinlay 5-7 days for UPS, 10-15 for economy. They are ERP brand which almost is always from the OEM factory or better, when possible. The original Samsung heating elements are from China, these are North American. The rollers from Samsung usually are Chinese, and these are Taiwanese... My experience is they are either at OEM quality or above it, even. I have yet to have a single problem with using them in our store, or selling them to customers.

You rock :) - order wheels and idler pully off your site. LIke everyone else, If I'm gonna tear it down and clean it I may as well replace the wear parts. You might want to add the belt to your kit as well. Amazon is always cheaper but you video is worth the price difference this time. Thanks. Cheaper than calling for a tech.

At first I was overwhelmed and almost bought a brand new washer and dryer. It'll be 2 weeks before they can deliver so I threw caution to the wind and started following your instructions. Voila! I found the problem, did a temporary fix till my parts come in. Thanks for that link, btw! My husband passed away a few months ago so you are just what I needed.

Thanks for the video. I just fixed our 7yr old Samsung dryer. In my case the squeaking was coming from the front lower wheel but I replaced all of them along with the pulley and belt. Nice to see all the components of a dryer for future reference. Should be easy to fix. FYI. I didn’t have to remove the back panel to replace the wheels. I was able to squeeze an open end wrench back there.

Well done video. Have a squeal in my 9 year old Whirlpool that I suspect is the idler, but now I may order rollers as well. Not identical arrangement, but close enough to figure out. ** Thanks for stressing the importance of cleaning, that's exactly how to prevent fires aside from clean lint traps. Pull the cover and vacuum every 2-3 years ideally.

As soon as my new repair room is done I'll be shooting the same ideas for Whirlpool/Maytag dryers. Got a NASTY Kenmore (really WP Built) that had the rear bulkhead that holds the drum shred itself in half... Horrible thing... All caused by a $10 roller wheel.
Quite literally, every dryer I've seen has a nearly-similar arrangement. 2-4 roller wheels. Idler pulley which anymore wear down fast. Some like GE/Frigidaire have drum bearings and wear pads that can go bad, but its almost the same identification system: If you have a noise, the drum will shred soon.

You forgot to mention something! If the drum rollers fail within a year of being replaced, it's likely the felt seal on the drum is too worn and needs to be replaced. Dirt is able to get past it and ruin the rollers. The hardest part was finding a felt seal that would work. I used a felt seal meant for an LG dryer in my samsung dryer and it worked just fine. The process of removing, cleaning and installing the new seal was pretty straightforward and it's lasted close to 4 years so far without needing further repairs. I'm not an appliance repairman myself, but I still have a Samsung front load dryer like this one from 2008. When the motor finally gives out, it'll be time for a speed queen.

Hey Ben, I’m curious if you recommend lubricating the rollers (or anything else) with WD-40, white lithium grease, or any other lubricant OR if you actually do NOT recommend doing so?
(Bonus question: I have a matching Samsung washer with no cleanable filter trap. We have many dogs, and I swear our washer redistributes hair (and what seems like fibers) into future loads. Might you have a video addressing best way to try to remedy this?)
Thanks for an informative, clear, and excellently summarized video!

Very well done video. Gave me the confidence to take ours apart. It would have been nice to hear some of the strange noises linked with a particular failure before you tore it down. You mentioned a reassembly video, but I couldn't find it. I will watch this one in reverse. :)

Do you have any tips when putting the dryer back together? I felt like it was difficult to keep the dryer up on the wheels while trying to get the front bulkhead reattached.

    Hi Ben.
These are very good instruction videos.
I have been watching Brandon's videos for just over a year and decided to check yours out as well. I'm glad I did as now I i feel i can sell second hand white good in my area as a side Hussle.
I live in New South Wales, Australia and i am hoping most stuff shown in these videos i can replicate here to make a bit extra on the side.
Anyway buddy keep up the good work. I'm sure we are all looking forward to more videos.

Machines in NSW are identical to American machines for most brands. You guys got LG and Samsung. I think the only main brand you have is Sampson that we don't have here, and probably way more Fisher & Paykel machines (they are in the US, but barely). There's a huge market for used machines in Australia, and I know a few guys that do the hustle there. ITs good money, and stuff like LG/Samsung are easy to work on.

Is the bearing on the tensioner pulley suppose to feel more tight or just as loose as the other rollers??
I have a noise I’m looking for can’t seem to find it, but it wasn’t a repetitive noise or squeak that something a belt or roller would do.

So we did this and replaced the heating element at the same time with your kit. Is there something we missed that would make the dryer stop heating after these replacements?
