Well done! I’ve done this challenge myself, refreshingly fun! Keep going, cycle 100 is doable. You’ve got the right mindset to make it further. My hot tip is to use scheduling for efficient bathroom usage, you’ll still need over 8 toilets to account for maintenance time. Regular ONI is a bit too easy IMO, after 1000 hrs. 50+ dupes forces you to become a better player. It’s great.
I had a feeling this will be a breeze for you, given how thorough you are in your other series. However, I think in this case your superb editing skills actually bit you in the backside. Because of all this smooth editing it looks like you had no issues at all doing the challenge - no emergencies, no panic attacks, no other usual shenanigans that unedited playthrough might have had. Personally, I would very much enjoyed watching the unedited 6-8 hours of video, but then it would require you to narrate everything all the way.
true most the panic attacks got cut short :D But it was also easy for most of the parts (cause when you do food early it will be fine) and then it got hard for almost no reason, mostly cause I delayed oxygen for too long :D if I fo the 100 challenge it will probably more devastating. and thanks to your comment I try to keep more panic in the video 😁 (if I do that challenge)
For easy, massive oxygen/hydrogen production, I build a vertical building with the oxygen/hydrogen emitters at 1/3 from the bottom and gas pumps at the top and bottom. I have a gas sensor at a third from the top detecting hydrogen at then turn on the top pumps. Done!
Very good! You and Echo have very different strategies and play styles. I hope BierTier accepts your challenge. It will be interesting to see what strategy he uses. 🙂
Some things to note: going for extra morale and decor, aswell as food storage are gonna be preety much useless in this challange. You won't get all the skill pointa to even get a dupe to need that much morale, and decor helps with nothing if you are running out of oxygen xD Food storage are also gonna be a good part of the time constantly empty (because soo many dupes eating at once that there is no time for the food to rot), so maybe just a couple fridges in CO2 should be enough. I also think rushing the advanced toilets and using the spare water from toilets for oxygen production is a great idea! I don't think dupes can get food poisoning from breathing, so why not try it? Apart from that, doubling the research tables and grills (double the ammount you had) are an almost obvious thing to do, since you have soo much dupe labor, flying through the research early game and cooking all the food for even getting some extra kcal are a must, in my opinion. Great video, and don't forget to like yourself for the algorithm! :D
A bit of training and you get there :). As for the gsme terms. They come with time. U also didn't know what a SPOM (self powered oxygen module/maschine) was until i researched. The Hydra was more complex. I came up with an electolyzer design and found out that is has been in the gsme for years. But noone seemed to use the name. Since then i try to bring the name of the creation (the original person gave his setup) back to mainstream. Thank you alot for the comment. :)
Yes i should have started the electrolyzer setup sooo much earlier. If you do the challenge keep that in mind :D I though water might be an issue if i start it too soon. There were also quite a few dupes starving even though the food was fine. To much debuffs and Animations that slow the dupes down. Wet, coughing, irritated eyes, and so on.
The symmetry and organization amidst the chaos makes me feel such shame regarding my own bases. ... and yet... somehow also an ocd level of peace. Lol I just find myself pausing the vid every few minutes to take it all in. :)
Oh that's nice. Glad you can enjoy it. This organized setup was the only way for me to properly count what we need. For the 100 challenge more training on my side is needed.
I would have gone after a bathroom loop early to generate water, not that it helps much, but more water is better when you need electrolyzers like that. Also you can put a ladder in the great hall and make it over several floors, as long as it's not more than 128 tiles, packing in more tables since you need a decor and recreation item. You can also do with without ladders by using a tile ladder with a table on it, squeezing out 2 more tables per floor.
Luma's really making me reconsider my life choices here. I mean I _need_ to go to cooking school, but I also doubt it would help me out much XD. Im just a kitchen menace
It's interesting watching videos about the game because though I have played, I got overwhelmed before getting to plastic and such. But then I watch videos and see things I thought were necessary aren't necessary at all. I'd be curious what someone's idea is of the perfect play through. And the perfect base.
That is the great thing about this game. There is no one right way of doing things. There are a lot of good ways and a few unorthodox ways, but as long as you can play and have fun all of those are legit.
If you add more schedules for your duplicants and schedule their break time around each other you can make Better use of the bathrooms to prevent peeing on the floor. For example 50 duplicants divided by 10 or so schedules = 5 toilets needed. (Might be more just depends on your scheduled downtime) The same goes for mess halls you do not need that many mess hall tables
That is partly correct. The toilets will work the question is is it worth the extra time spend making schedules. Mess tables on the other hand are not public buildings. like beds. they are only assigned to new dupes when 1 dies. I still appreciate the tip :) thanks alot. Maybe the extra time might pay off.

You don't need so many mechanical filters to filter 5 pipes. just one pipe that runs across with 1g of hydrogen would be able to pick up all hydrogen packets and filter them out.

I've been wanting to make videos about this game (i've done some occasional "youtubing") but doing it real time seemed way too boring. You edited the video after the fact, which is way better. The voice over seemed done after recording the footage. Do you take notes while playing to write down your thoughts, or is the voice over done from memory? Do you write a script or just "wing it"?
Hello. Sure glad to help a fellow youtube person out :D The voice over is done afterwards. I don't take physical notes; I play and plan in my head what would make a good scene. Normally i also don't record everything in a single video but make alot of video- snippets. Only recording the relevant parts. A Let's play episode consists out of around 200-300 videos This video is different since i did not know what would happen so i had to record everything. In a let's play i have some fixed camera angles so i can follow my different projects. Sorting them in redordings folders helps tremendously later when editing. I never used scripts except in the current exploit-#shorts series which helped prepare the voice lines before recording the video snippets. Normally i "wing it" but with most of my ideas i had while recording/playing still in mind. Sometimes i cut large potions and make them more compact. Sometimes i need to fix things i was to sloppy by slowing down the video and explain more. I developed this method of recording style because i don't like to talk and rerecord while playing. I also have a highly different voice depending on the time of day so when i need 3-7 days of recording for 1 Let's play episode the voice lines sound pretty different. Also, english is not my first language and i need to check the words i actually want to use not the caveman words i can come up with on the spot :D I have started with voice over, switched to real time recording and then back to voice over with the occasional real-time part. As you see i am not consistent and just see what i feel like. I will do live recordings again just to train myself. Hope that helped
@@Luma_plays Thanks for the reply! Did you find that certain styles of recording did better than others? I assume the voice-over edited-down videos do a whole lot better in terms of views and comments. I'm also not english so when I made these videos "real-time" I was often struggling to find the right words, which seems to be very similar what you describe as "caveman words i come up with" hah. I also found the "my voice is different per time of day" thing for myself. When I record late at night (which is often my only possibility as someone with a job and a kid) I usually sound a lot more tired and boring. I was thinking to use an AI voice since it would be so much easier and faster, but AI voices are also pretty lame. I also considered actually hiring someone for doing the voice-overs and editing (editing and recording myself takes a lot of time; if I work that time, I could hire someone else to do it for less) Anyway, thanks for the reply, good luck on your future videos!
Hey gamebuster here my long answer. Disclaimer: Everything written here is no real advice just some experiences shared. In the long run the Edited gameplay seems to do better. But not linearly with the effort that is needed for them. You will need to decide that on your own. BUT check the bigger youtubers and see if you can find alot that don't edit their gameplay. Except Grind this game, Francis John and Nathan's sandbox I can't seem to find any in other niches. Markiplier has a mixture of unedited but still highly edited content. Some Audiences like the chill natural feel of a live recording. Others (myself included) think most of these are not worth my time, if they don't at least put in a bit effort with the cuts. I do watch some live gamers though. Echos VODs are fun Ryukahr and so on. "I also found the "my voice is different per time of day" thing for myself. When I record late at night (which is often my only possibility as someone with a job and a kid) I usually sound a lot more tired and boring" --> I did not mean the energy level. That is depending on how you are "willing" to change your mood, hype yourself up or just stay calm and go with it. I actually meant the voice frequency. Like the deep morning voice or growly night voice. At day time my voice can be multiple Hz different. Check my "Rooms expanded Mod" video compared to other vids. Then you can imagine what i mean. Regarding the AI voices. I don't have much experience from a creator perspective. Here is my viewer perspective: I only ever found 1 channel that had an acceptible AI voice and that was a channel about AI's; so it fit. As soon as i personally hear an AI voice i leave the channel forever, BUT the same goes for bad not understandable english (i do listen to foreign english speakers of cause, also accents are of cause fine but if I can't understand them without subtitle i also leave) A nice accent can be charming as long as you can understand what is said. Around 89% use no subtitle on my own videos 3% do (no clue where the rest of the percentages are UA-cam..) The 3% that do don't stick around for long.. "editing and recording myself takes a lot of time; if I work that time, I could hire someone else to do it for less)" Not sure how it is in the place you live but if i would hire someone for the hours i need to edit / Voice / Thumbnail creation / upload / descriptions etc. Depending on the quality or quantity of the videos you want to produce you would need to pay someone full time to make that. If that is an option for you that is cool. The real civil engineer is an example for that ("that" being letting someone else handle the editing) and he quickly rose to succes with his presentations style. But editors aren't and shouldn't be cheap. (maybe if you are succesful you can revenue share.) I have no clue i do that on my own :D so you better research that matter a bit more and make an informed decision. Have a nice day! Everything written here is no real advice just some experiences shared.
@@gamebuster800 I also checked out your Timberborn Hard 5 video quickly and your voice seems totally fine and nice. If you do a voice over and edit it to a short video you can make it a more dense and exiting video. It is also easier to come up with voice lines if you are not pressured by the moment. Just my thoughs. Other people might like this style more. Have fun on your endeavour.
Hey Hort, I am not sure what you mean: I can help you if you tell me what is new to you :)? And yes there have been a few updates but i don't know which is the last one you know of.
@@hort_marcoxd3751 Ah this. I do have the DLC installed. For this challenge it makes no difference. The DLC has 1 more recreational building on a different planet more critter and other rockets and research. But also a few more problems like radiation (you might have seen a glowing duplicant)
I split the wires in different parts and have the grids seperated. I also don't have everything on the wires activated at the same time. And i think there was some are i might have missed it and the cable broke not sure. It was a long recording.

Where did all the pee go on the 1st 2 3 cycles .. i rember seeing them peeing on the water supply but further on the video i dont see any polluted water in that tank.. Edit 1: 5:38 you can clearly see the pee in the water supply 5:45 its not there Im new to this game and always end up dirtying my water source. Am i missing something? Edit 2: ok i slowed the video and saw him issue a mop order underwater. I guess ill need to try it if its possible and if it is.. im happy i stumbled across thos video
Hey enryuu you already said it 05:39 you can see the mop command underwater. If there is only a bit of other liquid you can mop liquids in liquids. weird - yes - still works. Also, the video is not 100% chronological. sometimes i switched a few seconds to emphasise a dupe peeing or almost starving; even though it happened a few seconds ago where i showed something else already at the same time. Thanks for the keen eye :D
Ohh; and then see how far i can get? Or what would the goal be? Cool idea by the way. I think getting to cycle 50 would be very easy. So maybe stop when the first dupe dies?
Hey Kenny Carter did you like it? The 100 dupe challenge is really risky you are always on the edge of loosing half your dupes. But 50 dupes works pretty nicely. Even though this try wasn't the cleanest.
@@Luma_plays i do wonder how doing many..... with so many dupes you can mine out the whole asteriod in one cycle. that be hilarious. on thr plus side you can use sandbox mode to paint enough oxygen around or even a tone of oxylite to avoid oxygen issues...
If you watch to the end you see that i did play until cycle 51 just to be sure. (I also did not not what was intended until 50 or 50 included) But i checked and echo also played until 50 if i am not wrong.
but when dev mode gets turned on you get a d at the end of your build. no dev mode no d. you said you save and restart after adding the dupes, to deactivate dev mode. and yea i use dev mode a lot,
Yeah I just hoped that reloading it would stop the immediate influence of the "spawning" dev mode. Like the potentially sligtly changed care packages. I never deactivate it completely (change the original file back) since i use the 10x speed from the dev mode and not the speed mod.
Mopped ua-cam.com/video/djhqIPjKujc/v-deo.html and really easy to get rid of with the pitche pumps. They let you use the polluted water (everything that touches the straw thingy is availible for bottling). The bottles are dropped in direction of the fungus

I developed this method of recording style because i don't like to talk and rerecord while playing.
I also have a highly different voice depending on the time of day so when i need 3-7 days of recording
for 1 Let's play episode the voice lines sound pretty different.
Also, english is not my first language and i need to check the words i actually want to use
not the caveman words i can come up with on the spot :D
I have started with voice over, switched to real time recording
and then back to voice over with the occasional real-time part.
I also considered actually hiring someone for doing the voice-overs and editing (editing and recording myself takes a lot of time; if I work that time, I could hire someone else to do it for less)
Anyway, thanks for the reply, good luck on your future videos!
Here is my viewer perspective: I only ever found 1 channel that had an acceptible AI voice
and that was a channel about AI's; so it fit.
As soon as i personally hear an AI voice i leave the channel forever, BUT the same goes for bad not understandable english (i do listen to foreign english speakers of cause, also accents are of cause fine but if I can't understand them without subtitle i also leave)
A nice accent can be charming as long as you can understand what is said.
Around 89% use no subtitle on my own videos 3% do
(no clue where the rest of the percentages are UA-cam..)
The 3% that do don't stick around for long..
"editing and recording myself takes a lot of time;
if I work that time, I could hire someone else to do it for less)"
Not sure how it is in the place you live but if i would hire someone
for the hours i need to edit / Voice / Thumbnail creation / upload / descriptions etc.
Depending on the quality or quantity of the videos you want to produce
you would need to pay someone full time to make that.
If that is an option for you that is cool. The real civil engineer is an example for that
("that" being letting someone else handle the editing)
and he quickly rose to succes with his presentations style.
But editors aren't and shouldn't be cheap.
(maybe if you are succesful you can revenue share.)
I have no clue i do that on my own :D so you better research
that matter a bit more and make an informed decision.
Have a nice day!

Have fun on your endeavour.
when creating the barracks try offsetting the schedule so everyone is sleeping at different times, this means you wont need as many cots
Cots are not shared as toilets are. I would need to unassign them manually. As far as i learned.
Классное видео 👍👍👍
Thank you!!
Very Fun XD
Thank you :D
Gc Fungus!
Nice Choice!
hola puedes habilitar los subtitulos en español gracias buen trabajo
I tried to have youtube auto translate the video. I is probably not correct but you can try an watch it :)
12:40 - :D
did an update come? 'Cause I can't explore all these things. I only can explore the rockets
Hey Hort,
I am not sure what you mean: I can help you if you tell me what is new to you :)?
And yes there have been a few updates but i don't know which is the last one you know of.
@@Luma_plays hi Luma,
For example, I only have the research colors blue, red and yellow. yours is also orange.
@@hort_marcoxd3751 Ah this.
I do have the DLC installed. For this challenge it makes no difference. The DLC has 1 more recreational building on a different planet more critter and other rockets and research. But also a few more problems like radiation (you might have seen a glowing duplicant)
@@Luma_plays Oh OK, thank you very much for your explanation
how is it possible that the wires are not overload? please help me .-.
I split the wires in different parts and have the grids seperated. I also don't have everything on the wires activated at the same time. And i think there was some are i might have missed it and the cable broke not sure. It was a long recording.
Maybe Grind This Game likes to do this challenge.
He already did it (6 parts). Link is in the Description
wusste das du deutsch sprichst
Naah das bildest du dir ein xD. Kann nur Englisch.
Now.... what about that 75:75 challenge :D
I directly jumped to the 100/100 challenge last november to december. But i am still editing it.
@@Luma_plays Oh, thats exciting! I suppose Ill need to subscribe to guarantee it pops up when you're done. Thanks for the heads up Luma!
@@pyroman7196 sure that would be appreciated. :) But even then youtube doesn't necessary show it. I haven't figured out why. Will probably release it in a week or 2
@@Luma_plays Well then, I look forward to seeing it whenever it pops up for me 😁
Where did all the pee go on the 1st 2 3 cycles .. i rember seeing them peeing on the water supply but further on the video i dont see any polluted water in that tank..
Edit 1: 5:38 you can clearly see the pee in the water supply
5:45 its not there
Im new to this game and always end up dirtying my water source.
Thanks for the keen eye :D
what the musics?
Jimena Contreras from the youtube audio libraby
@@Luma_plays there was some music from the Trailers of Oxygen Not Included
also great video!
Great, now do 75
I recorded the 100 Dupe version. it is just hard to edit
@@Luma_plays well, ain't that a suprise. Show me what u got
A Dupe, A Day?
50 at startup.
@@Luma_plays i mean as a new challenge, every day you get a new dupe, start 1 day 1, 2 day 2. etc. :o
Ohh; and then see how far i can get? Or what would the goal be? Cool idea by the way. I think getting to cycle 50 would be very easy. So maybe stop when the first dupe dies?
@@Luma_plays that could be a fair idea, hopefully its something fun to try and great videos ^^
Тormal working day in china:)
lol xD
i just wanna say.. OH WOW A DEAD DUPE i find that so hilarious when i see a dead dupe in my game. .. saying this cause i expect you to lose a few.
Hey! you did not win, Cycle 50 Finish At The end of cycle 50 hahahaha.
If you watch to the end you see that i did play until cycle 51 just to be sure. (I also did not not what was intended until 50 or 50 included)
But i checked and echo also played until 50 if i am not wrong.
but when dev mode gets turned on you get a d at the end of your build. no dev mode no d. you said you save and restart after adding the dupes, to deactivate dev mode. and yea i use dev mode a lot,
Yeah I just hoped that reloading it would stop the immediate influence of the "spawning" dev mode.
Like the potentially sligtly changed care packages.
I never deactivate it completely (change the original file back) since i use the 10x speed from the dev mode and not the speed mod.
🤔
🤔yes? :D
Vídeos em português pfv
This video and the 100/100 challenge should have Portuguese subtitles.
Or do you mean other videos? :)
damn...
50 dupes, and no sight of polluted water below your base 🤔🤔 staged
Mopped ua-cam.com/video/djhqIPjKujc/v-deo.html
and really easy to get rid of with the pitche pumps.
They let you use the polluted water (everything that touches the straw thingy is availible for bottling).
The bottles are dropped in direction of the fungus
