Utterly harrowing. If this occurred 20 years later, Erik and Lyle would have been sent to rehabilitation for the trauma and would NEVER have seen the inside of a prison. They were failed. They had already had their lives robbed and were already damaged by their parents’ abuse and neglect and they lost a future they deserved. They’d better be free soon.
@@sunseeker9581 It's not a question about whether murder is "okay". It's about taking a closer look at the facts in this case, and ask the question why it happened. Not just viewing it as either black or white
35:48 you see so clearly how deeply affected he is by the memory of his mother's abusive outbursts. his mannerism and facial expressions are very similar to that of a child that's confused, helpless and hurt about why the mother would even say something like that. I see it a lot in younger patients in my line of work. very heartbreaking I think Lyle is often portrayed as the more unemotional/ rational one but I think that's very far from the truth. Lyle strikes me as a young man that learned very quickly to adapt his behaviour so that he would not reveal his vulnerability to his abusers. But he is a very astute and emotionally intelligent person, who displays deep hurt and sadness at the things he's experienced and the things he just had to accept as normal for so long, but also he appears to be a deeply caring and protective person. I do believe that a main driving force behind the m*rders, was Lyle feeling like he had to protect his little brother, and the injustice and desperation of it all. I think that he wouldn't have done what he/ they did, if he did not love his brother so much.
It's true. Lyle loved his dad despite the horrible stuff and would NOT have resorted to murder. Plus he was going to leave anyways. But the dad wasn't letting Erik leave and wasn't stopping his abuse. So yeah you're right, Lyle's love and protectiveness for his brother definitely is a contributing factor to all that. I really admire him, yk.
Is so sad to see who respectful they are and smartest and the judge didn’t value nothing .The defense try a lot . I am very sorry for them. Please now is the time to get them free 🙏🙏
We need some director to make an accurate film about these brothers. The first trial exposes it all!!! No sexualizing them! Just pure facts!!! The new film would shock the world at how Jose treated his own flesh!!!

This was genuinely so hard to watch, the misleading judgment of the two brothers conduct. The justice system was rigd. They need to be released it its been over 34 YEARS!
His parents were off their rockers, fruitcakes, and they abused their children. But killing them u go to jail .because it's the flipping law. Then his lovely father, gets away with all the abuse. Great world.
The lady spoke truth to power back then. These brothers have not just thrived (if that is possible in a grey environment) but they have surpassed almost everyone's expectations. With so many things stacked against them they embody the resilience of the human spirit. This sits deep within them. Seeing so many different painful aspects of their lives unfold, to me is very heartbreaking. The seperation post the trial , abuse is heart wrenching. As a people, to even consider the possibility of not releasing them, seems insanely cruel. I sincerely hope that the brothers aclimatise well once released. That goodness and mercy may follow them all the days of their lives. I am sorry that more was not done sooner for both of you but NOW seems the right time
I think that because their father was in the music business, the media wanted this shut down quick so that the Hollywood atmosphere was never discussed.
The arraignment has always been hard to watch .the judge sounds like she's either had or stroke or she's drunk. The boys looked heavily medicated, especially Erik .😢 Seeing the family support them shouting out their love as the boys walked out. Lyle's little wave 😭😭😭💔
Eric is often perceived as the shy and emotional one which he is but he's also mature whereas for lyle he may seem dominating and all but he seems to be a softie inside like a scared child. Hope they get their deserved freedom soon
Yes, what they did was Wrong! But she stating that they killed for ' financial gain' As if she knows that to he the fact. SMH yeah she's a judge but not The JUDGE, Jehovah God, the only one who knows the true motives of anyone's actions including hers.
They have a second chance to be happy after everything that's happened to them. It won't change anything, they were still abused and as a consequence, they murdered both of their parents. Sad that their lives could have been different, one stupid mistake. Bad parents. I hope they make it through to the outside of jail. Then they have to adjust to a life out in the mean cruel unforgiving world, sad again.
