Erik spoke about his idea for the beautification project. All inmates have said both Erik and Lyle have helped them become people they never thought possible. These brothers are not and have never been criminals. They were victims of horrific abuse. They saved themselves and they’ve been saving others! 🙏🏻

    • @lightup6751

Kids watch the Netflix movie and blindly believe anything they are told.
There is not a single piece of evidence that confirms the allegation of abuse.
The fact is that the brothers bought freaking shotguns and shot their parents so many times their brain was splattered all over. The forensic experts said they have never seen such a gruesome scene. After their parents died, they used their dead parents money to travel, buy jewelry, buy businesses and take tennis lessons.
They also hired a programmer to delete their dead fathers will in case he left them with less than everything.
It is scary how people don’t think anymore. They blindly watch a movie that someone made. And accept it as the absolute truth.
      Too lazy to think.
      Gotta use your head.

What is going on in schools these days that so many people lack basic comprehension skills? Erik testified only his father abused him and not his mother. Lyle testified his abuse stopped at 11. They were 22 and 18 at the time and they killed BOTH parents not just their father. I would have to be on serious medication to take those irrefutable facts and comprehend them to mean "their vile parents tried to abuse and groom them" because that is the same as totally disregarding what the brothers testified to.

    • @nicolebenson4517

@@lightup6751 Kids of today? What an ignorant statement. The DA, who are not kids of today, didn’t watch a movie and lack critical thinking. All evidence from both trials were reviewed and new evidence, a letter from Erik to his cousin Andy 8 months prior to the crime, proving abuse, was submitted last May before the ridiculous series on Netflix was ever released. For the DA to recommend parole, of which with the brother’s exemplary 35 year prison term, is testimony to that their abuse was true and they have served their time.

      @lightup6751 25 днів тому

It’s funny how you conveniently ignore the person above me addressing you.
As he said Erik testified only his father abused him and not his mother. Lyle testified his abuse stopped at 18. They were 22 and 18.
They bought shotguns, shot their parents apart, tried to make up alibis, lied to the cops, spent close to a million dollars of their parents money after their murder, threatened a therapist with his life and then said it was all due to abuse when they got caught.
The mother didn’t help or maybe she did. But sure it was bad of her to ignore it, if she did. But did she deserve to be murdered? They shot her half a dozen times, she crawled away and they got ammo to reload and shot her in the face with a shotgun.
      Totally normal behavior when abused.
      The father was a monster.
But the twins are cold blooded murderers.
You say they are “incredible” as if they are some sort of heroes who hang in there.
But the reality is they are brutal killers.
And yes, it is mostly kids and teens who saw the romanticized version that is in favor of the twins that support these murderers. Kids can be manipulated by a single movie or show today because they hardly do research or read up on what they talk about. Not all of them obviously, but many esp in comment section which is a minority of the internet

It was in trail that Lyle said his mother had him sleeping in the parents bed and the mom making Lyle touch her on multiply occasions. She knew about the SA and did nothing. And even admitted it to them she knew. It's not uncommon' to feel anger towards the other parent for enabling it and sticking up for the person assaulting them and not protecting them The anger can be felt for both parents. Because had she took her kids and left Jose, or told the police they never would have ended up dead.

@@fredk9999 No problem, a lot of people haven't watched the actual trials. They have been made to look bad in the media. But if you watch and listen without biased opinion, like it's the first time you heard it. You can actually see they aren't lying about the SA. I fully believe in the 911 call they didn't feel much emotions and it was faking crying, completely different then they were in court with raw, pure emotion about the SA. I think after the killings they felt free and did spend the money in the form of celebration. Right or wrong for that. I do understand why they did it. Nobody should have to go through what they did with their sick parents. I'm sure you can't imagine ever doing that to a child, or your parents ever doing that to you? Either way none of us are the same as we were 35yrs ago. We all made stupid mistakes at 18 and 21. They spent 35yrs in prison already. Given what tge first 18 and 21yrs were like for them I as well as many others feel it's time for them to try to have a happy life set free.

Regardless of the allegations of abuse, when you murder your parents; society is compelled to punish you in order to maintain justice for all. Yes, it is trag1ic what the boys may or may not have endured, but to let them go free now only serves to undermine the system of justice we all rely on to keep society together. Let em stay where they are at and we can all just chalk it up to 'misfortune for all.'

With all due respect, their second trial witnessed a biased judge not allowing the allegations of abuse to even be heard. In the first trials it was a hung jury for both and the prosecutor stated “boys cannot be raped because they do not have the equipment for that.” Many things have changed in 35 years include attitudes towards male sexual abuse as well as PTSD. They were failed by the system and they deserve a second chance.

Funny how people funded the project once the mendez brothers started complaining about there being "no color". Also, that lady with the jewl in her forehead ignored letters and pleas from prisoners to help them with the project. Once the mendez brothers wrote to her, she suddenly found herself interested in helping them get the funding to do so. This world is such a sick joke..
