    i love how Benicio says "you don't have to agree with the character, you have to understand the character. That's what being an actor is". It kind of speaks about why Will turned down Django. He was trying to agree with a character without actually understanding the character and just being the vessel which is the "actor".

      Will didn't do Django because: 1.Django wasn't a "lead" role

      If each of these very experienced people were allowed to talk as much as they wanted the video would run too long. The host has many important jobs, one of which is to keep things moving so that the final edit can be succinct. It's quite possible that a person stops talking, perhaps adds a few words that don't move their statement forward, and the sequence is cut short by editors as they prepare the video for release. This video was absolutely not presented here as it was shot, to think so is absurd. You probably agree with me on that, so the question then is, what was said about the prejudice/racism issue that was not included in the final video? We will probably never know, so it is hard to ascribe a judgement on how 'nice' including or excluding that content was.

      Jamie played it flawlessly. Ofcourse he is mostly comedian, just like Will a very versatile actior, but his appearance and voice was more fit for this role.
      Django evolved from a "slave scared for his & his wifes life" into "nothing will stop him until he finds and rescues his wife" which you can perfectly see in his expression and body language..

When he simply just turned down a great role for carrier/PR reasons and because Tarantino refused to make it one-dimensional for Smith's pr taste - while Jackson played a real monster (a much riskier character) and had no problem with it. @Martin Latour America has obviously never been great, whether is was under Obama, Bush or under Trump, but have you read up on the differences between these centers during these eras? Trump has made a point of trying to undo everything that was under Obama, so perhaps he should chose to undo the things that were actually bad, such as these centers, rather than doubling down on the cruelty and family separation?
      I don't treat politics like a fucking football match, where I root for a single team no matter what they do. Perhaps if you spent less time idolizing a fucking narcissistic wannabe-dictator, and spent more time using that head of yours (which, though in pretty shoddy condition, should have some light reasoning power), you might realize that it doesn't matter if your pick for president wins or not, as long as the people are losing. And perhaps if you spend less time relying on three letter acronyms (TDS, SJW...) to describe your "opponents", and more time thinking about the what is actually happening, people like you wouldn't have to waste humanity's time and resources picking leaders who are so far removed from reality that they might as well live in fucking Narnia. I love how it's somehow the people who oppose that amoeba you're trying to label as deranged. That's some solid propagandist shit right there. Grow the fuck up, and try looking at the consequences of electing your spoiled (in all meanings of that word), cowardly megalomaniac as president. Your country is going down the shitter, yet you somehow confuse the smell of shit for the smell of roses.

      He would've done great too. And Quentin obviously thought he would too. Jamie didn't do anything that Will couldn't do. Django always had an angry face and talked with a low voice. Not hard for any actor to do. Which is why he was the least impressive role, but Jamie was good though.

    • @martyfunkhouser4298
      @martyfunkhouser4298 8 років тому +45

      +D. Foxx I don't think Jamie gets enough credit. He didnt have an over the top role like Leo or Christoph so it was hard for him to really show off. There was, however, a lot of subtleness to his performance. just compare the Django at the beginning of the movie to Django by the end

    • @MisterFoxx
      @MisterFoxx 8 років тому +6

      Marty Funkhouser yeah, like Will said, the character arc was fine, but just performance wise, it wasn't anything that Will couldn't handle.

      +George Tarantino Django was, to me, by far the weakest character and the easiest to act. Samuel's, Waltz's and Leo's characters had more to them. Will is also actually a good actor, better than Jamie. So Will could have brought more in Django but who know? I love that movie anyway.

Literally cheating is being dishonest (which none of them were, from my understanding of their situation) and breaking a promise (which they did not do, sure they reshaped the original agreement i.e vows, that doesn't mean you're breaking them).
