KOBALT Extended Run v Ultimate Output batteries

- The Kobalt Ultimate Output battery Will give a run time up to 60 minutes "working" time as told to me by Kobalt customer support. Ultimate Output battery model number KXB 424-03. The model number of the Extended Run battery is KB 424-03. They both are rated 24v, 4Ah, 96Wh.
Just for clarity. The ultimate output batteries are optimized for the XTR tools. All the Kobalt tools can use them, but only the XTR ones can get the most out of these batteries. It works similar to Ryobi’s HP batteries. All tools can use them, but only the HP tools use the upgrades built into the battery.

It's just different cells, my guy.
"Upgrades to the battery" means they are using battery cells with improved discharge characteristics like reduced Internal Resistance which reduces voltage sag, among other things.

Just had two 4.0ah ultimate output batteries go out on me back to back when using my 1/2 inch xtr impact. Not only do I believe the extended run batteries. My single 4.0ah extended run has lasted over 2 years running all my kobalt tools. I’m very aggravated about those two ultimate outputs. They are the only kobalt tools I’ve had mess up.
my UO battery only charges to 2 bars now and its only like 2 yrs old.any advise on how to fix that ? idk if its a common issue

24v x 4aH is 100 watts hour. The telephone lied or didn’t know the answer. Also the XR pack uses Samsung 18650 batteries that are rated for 10 years shelf life or 500 charges, whichever comes first. That’s good enough and no needed to pay $10 more for the Ultimate that uses 21700 batteries that can hold more energy, but why would Lowes rate I the same. If Ultimate last longer, then rate at at 5 aH and the higher price makes sense.
Yeap very much depends on the rate. The ultimate output batteries should last longer under high drain conditions than the extended run. Watt hours are based on nominal voltage so 21.6v * 4ah = 86.4 wh
18650 battery VS 21700 battery
i just walked through my door with the new XTR combo kit. there's a current deal that gives you a free 4ah battery with certain tool purchases. i qualified for the free battery with the combo kit. they gave the older blue one for the free battery.

if can make a video about the cut off charging volt I think the old version is better because it takes more than 25.3 volts!

Nice! I dont have the vacuum but can you check if this new battery fits and works in the vacuum? Nobody else on UA-cam or fb has been able to demonstrate that. Several have pointed out that this new battery doesnt fit or work in the fan and the angle grinder tools.

It does. I have it and the xtr kit. All batteries are interchangeable.
Works in the fan now--purchased in 2022. They must have altered the newer fans to accommodate the new battery.
Does the new ultimate output battery fit on the kobalt vacuum I wanna buy the vacuum but all I have is 3 4.0 ultimate output battery’s an I know these battery’s don’t fit in the kobalt fan

Sounds like, "Snake Oil" to me. They are both rated the same, 4 amp hour. On a 4 amp hour battery you can draw 1 amp for 4 hours. If it had a different amp hour rating, like their 6 ah battery, then you can draw 1 amp for 6 hours.
I'm not buying into snake oil.

They're both have the same capacity true, but the cells used in the ultimate output battery are rated for a 35a continuous discharge, while the cells used in the older extended run battery were only rated for 22a continuous discharge.
If you have a tool that can draw the extra amps, you'll get almost 60% more power with the ultimate output battery, but it'll then drain that much faster too.

Ultimate out put uses 21700 cells and the exstended run time uses 18650 cell. The 21700 is a way better cell. It's barely bigger than a 18650 with alot better performance. It's the cell tesla designed for there cars trying to get a little more run time at roughly the same size
@@samuelschuler7920 I don’t agree. If the 21700 has higher mAh rating, the pack would be rated higher in Ah to justify the extra $10 price. Both packs are rated about 100 watts hour which is a lot of chemical energy. If what you say is true, then the 21700 pack would be rated 5 or 6 Ah and Lowes can charge $75 or even $100 which it prices the 18650 6 Ah pack at.

Nothing, but the 21700 is larger and can contain more chemical energy , and therefore can be packed at higher Ah, versus 18650 which requires more cells for same pack rating.
