Buddy… you are a blessing disguised as one smart human… been trying to find a receipt for this battery all day and then came across this video and fixed it in 15 seconds. Jump starting Kobalt batteries…. Who would of thought!!! Thanks pal!!!
I just want to say thank you, because my husband and I almost took the battery back, thinking that it was bad, your idea worked like a charm. Thank you so much.
I was a little hesitant at first to try your method. But, to my surprise it worked! I was able to charge the dead battery fully. Once again thanks for the solution for my dead battery.
HOLY CRAP! Mine was so dead that it wasn't even flashing at all when I hit the button. I didn't think it would work because of that, but it did! Saved me a lot of money man thank you for sharing!
WOW!! You sir, are a blessing to society. IT WORKS!! New Kobalt Ultimate Output 4ah battery. Plugged into charger, nothing but a solid green light (no blink), no charge. After 1 hour, nothing. Searched and found your video. Jumped from a Skil 20v 2ah battery for 30, then 40 seconds. Plugged Kobalt back into it’s charger….blinking green light and taking a charge!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU for posting this video.
Succussefly Jumped My Lawnmower Battery. I have the Kobalt 80v 5.0Ah battery for my lawn mower and it refused to charge after a year so I threw it in a drawer for another year forgetting about the warranty. Just saw this video and I used two 80v 2.5Ah batteries to jump this one 5.0Ah battery and it worked!!!! It's now taking charge. You rock!!!
I just did this and it worked. Thank you so much. I put the battery in the charger and at first the light didn't come on. Then all of a sudden the charging light started flashing green. Amazing!
Thank you!! This worked. I had a Greenworks 80v battery that I didn’t use for a year. So then I did your method with another 80v Kobalt battery. I left it for like 5 minutes and it’s charging now!!
So I bought a Snowjoe 96v 2 stage snow blower last year. Went to use this year and all 4 batteries wouldn't take a charge. Jumped them with a Harbor Freight 20v battery. All 4 charged when put on the charger saving me a huge expense on a year old machine. Great video and Thank You!
Genius, it worked for my 80v Kobalt leaf blower battery. Used it outside in the cold and battery died will using. Could not recharge cause charger kept flashing red even after letting it sit at room temperature for days. This method saved my battery, though I had to let the 2 batteries connected for a good 30 minutes ( probably because of the size of the battery. Thanks again!
Great tip! I thought my Kobalt 40v battery/charger was dead but your suggestion allowed me to get the battery recognized by the charger. Let it charge overnight and the next day it was like new.
Same exact scenario - brand new and it was flashing red. Battery was manufactured on 04/24 and today is 09/24, so not even 6 months on the shelf. Did this for about 15 seconds following similar procedures as jumping a car battery (red to dead, red to donor, black to donor, black to dead) and all is working now. Thanks for the advice!
Thank you! I had a standard 24v 2 Ah battery that I had left in a tool, which I suspect is the reason it caused to get to that state. I have another one of those and 2 of the 4 Ah ones, which I used to jump it, and it immediately showed signs of life. It's currently on the charger, so this is a relief.
Holy Smokes! Worked like a charm!!! In my case, I could not get any of the 4 lights to come up...100% dead as a door nail....I used actual wire (just what I had on hand) and left them hooked up for about 30 seconds...and then it worked! STELLAR WORK HOMIE
You, Sir, are the man! I just bought the double 4ah battery with a free tool, and after an hour of charging, the first battery I charged did not work. I was mad because now I had to make another trip back to Lowes. Then I figured I'd look for solutions on UA-cam and saw your video. I just thought I'd give it a try before going to Lowes, and lo and behold; IT'S ALIVE! LOL. Thanks for the tip!
I can’t thank you enough! I threw the battery in the trash, but now I can go ahead and get that bad boy back out and try this! I was so confused because I’ve had it less than a year and only used it a few times in a hedge trimmer lol. You are a life saver-er battery saver?! 😂❤
Thank you so much!!!! It worked perfectly!!! Only took. Minute or so I used old speaker plugs cut off the ends stripped the wire and like magic I’m back in business!!!!!
It works! I did it for a few seconds and it wasn’t enough. Then did it again for 10 seconds or so and it had a little flash fire. I tht ‘o well it was dead anyways’ To my surprise, it had some juice. Kobalt brand
While I don't currently have some spare wire to do this to a battery I know works cause I used it a few days ago, but forgot to take it off a air compressor, I appreciate this tip and will use it at my earliest opportunity, thank you in advance!
If all cells have just drained too low, then this can work as long as the cells aren't damaged. This can be rather dangerous if you don't check to make sure one of the cells hasn't dropped. If 1 cell is damaged and is at very low voltage and can't charge at all, You could overcharge the other cells, Lithium cells can catch fire overcharging them. The safe thing to do is to unscrew the bolts, and use a volt meter to check each cell to make sure they are all somewhat close to each other. If you find all of them at 3.9v for example, but one of them is 0.2v for example. Do not do this method as one of the cells has faulted or shorted. When that happens, I wait for 2 bad batteries and then sacrifice one of the cells from one and replace it in the other. Just have to be very careful doing that and requires hacking at the enclosure to do it.
WOOHOO!!! You saved the day! Or, well, you saved the BATTERY!!! LOL! We were about to throw the battery out and decided to search UA-cam and luckily we found your video. This worked like a champ and in just a couple minutes we have the battery now charging properly. Thank you!!! Subscribing to your channel to see what else you can help with!! :-D
Wow! I just bought a charger with 2 battery bundle. One battery charged, and the other wouldn't. I took it back to Lowe's and got a replacement. But the replacement also made the charger flash red. I did what you show here, and it worked like a charm.
I had the same problem on a kobalt 24v battery that came with reciprocating saw I bought off marketplace. Jumped it like u did, it worked. Now has and maintains full charge.
YOU'RE THE MAN!!!!! I purchased a used battery at an auction for cheap. When I got it home it just flashed red in the charger. I did your trick by jumping the batteries and now it works. I was almost going to throw it away, but now it works!! If I know where you are I would buy you a beer!! Thanks!! P.S. What do you do if you don't have a second battery? LOL
Thanks a ton, this trick even worked using 56v to fix a dead 80v. Since I metered the 80v dropped to 37V😂. The battery light didn't turn on, but after a min or two the charger is now charging it.
Thanks for the video, I have a new battery , that I have only charged once , it got stuck on on in my tool box in my Jeep and killed the battery ? My question is I only have one kobalt battery if I try this cam I do it from a lower volt battery from my craftsman batteries ?
I've got 2 batteries that wont take a charge and the charger shows green as if they are charged. Can't figure out how to charge them besides jumping them to another battery. any advice for this problem. They are 4ah ultimate output batteries with somewhere over 22v in them. if i jump them to a good battery they will indicate 1 led of charge and run tools briefly. no matter what i do they show green on the charger.
Every UA-camr gives the exact same solution which is just great if you have TWO batteries. What are you supposed to do if you only have ONE? Or what if you have a second battery but it's less voltage than the one you're trying to get up to charge so your charger will recognize it?
I've got a different issue and it seems to be exclusive to the high output batteries. They won't charge unless they're down to one bar. Idk if the older chargers don't read them correctly or what. And not long after the four amp ultimate output refused to charge above two bars. My regular ones charge fine . Have three ultimate output and they're all doing it.
In my case it does flash as if is fully charged just solid green light, but when u click on the battery it does display as only 1 bar left , would doing this fix that issue ?
My Kobalt 24v battery does charge and is green. But the problem is when I plug that Kobalt battery into the Kobalt 24v tools, the tools do not power up. Is there any way to fix it? Thanks.
I tried that with my Milwaukee 12 amp battery and it didn’t really work, I was able to get a full charge but the battery only last 10 minutes 🤷🏼♂️. Have a great one Lucas 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
I have a older 24v kobalt battery dated 12/17 it doesn't even have a light coming on. I jumped out to another 24v battery that was hot and nothing happened. What should i try next?
I did this for my 40V battery for my Mower. All bars shows on the gauge when hooked up to the good battery... but soon as I unhook it will not charge (charging light does not come on) and the light in the battery doesnt gauge come on. Any thoughts?
This worked like a charm with my 80v batteries too. Saved me $200 on a replacement!!
Buddy… you are a blessing disguised as one smart human… been trying to find a receipt for this battery all day and then came across this video and fixed it in 15 seconds. Jump starting Kobalt batteries…. Who would of thought!!! Thanks pal!!!
👊
Did like you said hooked up 2 wires from my dewalt battery to the Kobalt 40v..after 2 minutes I was able to charge the Kobalt battery... Thank you..
I just want to say thank you, because my husband and I almost took the battery back, thinking that it was bad, your idea worked like a charm. Thank you so much.
Glad it helped! 👍
Been charging my kobalt for 2 days and yes the charger red light stayed flashing. Watched this and man I Preciate it. Very helpful advice here.
I was a little hesitant at first to try your method. But, to my surprise it worked! I was able to charge the dead battery fully. Once again thanks for the solution for my dead battery.
👊
What type of wire did you use? @sycopath1
HOLY CRAP! Mine was so dead that it wasn't even flashing at all when I hit the button. I didn't think it would work because of that, but it did! Saved me a lot of money man thank you for sharing!

Man, I spent a bit of a time and was getting frustrated but tried this on my Kobalt 80v and it worked like a charm!

Absolutely amazing. I went from frustrated to relieved. It worked like a charm! Thank you
I just did this and it worked. Thank you so much. I put the battery in the charger and at first the light didn't come on. Then all of a sudden the charging light started flashing green. Amazing!
This is awesome. Just saved me replacing a battery. I didn’t have speaker wire but I did have wires from a breadboard kit. Worked like a charm!
Thank you!! This worked. I had a Greenworks 80v battery that I didn’t use for a year. So then I did your method with another 80v Kobalt battery. I left it for like 5 minutes and it’s charging now!!
Nice! Good deal!
I have a SnowJoe 24v thought I had a bad battery. Contacted CS while waiting for a response I found this video. Worked like a charm!!! Thanks bro!!

This worked for me on my Kobalt 40V MAX 2.5Ah battery. Preventing me from handing over my $150.00 to Lowes :) Thank you for this easy and helpful tip
Great tip! I thought my Kobalt 40v battery/charger was dead but your suggestion allowed me to get the battery recognized by the charger. Let it charge overnight and the next day it was like new.

That's interesting! Good tip Lucas. 👍
Thanks!
This video saved me from ordering a new battery, thank you!!!!!

Thank you thank you and thank you! Worked! Left a battery on a tire inflator and it was drained too far to register on the charger!
The Tire Inflator killed mine as well. Unfortunately, this one couldn't revive mine.
This works (assuming your battery is dead and not broken), thanks man!
Thank you so much!!!! It worked perfectly!!! Only took. Minute or so I used old speaker plugs cut off the ends stripped the wire and like magic I’m back in business!!!!!
Awesome!
You just saved me from a headache and some penny. Thank you!
We've used this twice now and it works great!!! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much just jumped my brand new battery. Saved me a trip from returning it
After getting the run around from lowe’s and kobalt (they were pointing fingers at eachother) this seems like a much easier fix. Thank you!
It works! I did it for a few seconds and it wasn’t enough. Then did it again for 10 seconds or so and it had a little flash fire. I tht ‘o well it was dead anyways’ To my surprise, it had some juice. Kobalt brand
Was going to thrown the battery away but came across this video.
Thank you!!
Awesome!
Wow, thank you! Worked immediately after giving it a jolt!
While I don't currently have some spare wire to do this to a battery I know works cause I used it a few days ago, but forgot to take it off a air compressor, I appreciate this tip and will use it at my earliest opportunity, thank you in advance!
Thanks for this. I'd looked at several videos and this is the one that worked!

Thanks for the help! I couldn"t help noticing your Greenup County license plates!! Hello from Ashland!
Right on! 👊
Thanks for the video. Saved my battery and $60 bucks

Worked great on 2 batteries! Thanks!
Thanks! Just saved me a trip to Lowe’s!
👊
Thanks for the video! I ran a brand new battery dead and it wouldn’t charge. It’s charging now thanks to you.
Glad it helped
I had the same problem on a kobalt 24v battery that came with reciprocating saw I bought off marketplace. Jumped it like u did, it worked. Now has and maintains full charge.
It worked!!! You, my man are awesome. Thank you so much for posting this video.
Right on!
Was going to bring a new 2 battery kit back... thank you man!
Awesome. Worked like a charm with 14ga speaker wire
Thanks!!

You’re welcome! I don’t exactly know, but I would think if you had a cord that produces 24 volts that would work too.
Worked perfectly, thanks for the tip.
Worked !! Awesome. Thank you for a helpful video.
Thank you! That worked exactly as you said it would!
Wow! So easy and I have 2 good batteries again. Thank you, thank you.
Thanks a ton, this trick even worked using 56v to fix a dead 80v. Since I metered the 80v dropped to 37V😂.
The battery light didn't turn on, but after a min or two the charger is now charging it.
👊
Great tip Lucas, thanks!👍🏻👍🏻
Great video! Saved me from buying a new battery. Thanks
Worked like a charm! Thanks man! 🤘
Thank you this was very helpful .👏🏽by the way who gave you that shiner?

Good deal! Glad it helped!
For anyone watching this. It is worth a try. I just jumped mine. This can definitely work
Thank you for this video!!

Perfect mate, cheers.
Thanks about to try today
You are the man.
Thank you!
Worked, thanks
Thank you.
You are a life saver brother you honestly saved me about 900
It worked ! thank you!! I got a new one that didn't work as well
Good deal, glad it helped!
Will this work on the 40v 4ah batteries also?
I would think so…
Update: it totally worked. THANK YOU so much for the video!! Highly helpful. Kobalt needs to cut you a commission check for this one!!
Thank you
That works perfectly
Thanks for the video, I have a new battery , that I have only charged once , it got stuck on on in my tool box in my Jeep and killed the battery ? My question is I only have one kobalt battery if I try this cam I do it from a lower volt battery from my craftsman batteries ?
I believe it would still work…
Simple and great, one quick question, I do not have second Kobalt battery , I have Dewalt or Ryobi batteries , can one of those be used to jump start
They should work the same
That was great thank you
i have 3 and they do this as well. what can i use instead to do the trick. brand new as well.
I've got 2 batteries that wont take a charge and the charger shows green as if they are charged. The only idea I have is do you have multiple chargers? I wonder if it might be an issue with the charger…
I have this same problem and it doesn’t matter what charger I use still trying to figure it out

Thanks for the tip! Is this ok to do with an 80v? I'm having same problem and want to try this.
It should work the same, but I can’t say for certain.
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead Thanks!
In my case it does flash as if is fully charged just solid green light, but when u click on the battery it does display as only 1 bar left , would doing this fix that issue ?
I really don’t know, but I don’t know what it would hurt to try…
I have this same problem
is speaker wire a certain gauge? thank you!!
I don’t know the specific gauge I used…
❤ the WRX STI
My Kobalt 24v battery does charge and is green. But the problem is when I plug that Kobalt battery into the Kobalt 24v tools, the tools do not power up. Is there any way to fix it? Thanks.
I’m sorry, but I do not know what that would be.
thanks!
I tried that with my Milwaukee 12 amp battery and it didn’t really work, I was able to get a full charge but the battery only last 10 minutes 🤷🏼♂️. Have a great one Lucas 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
Interesting! So far so good on mine. Maybe because it was a new battery already. 🤷🏼♂️
That's good information to know!! How do you know all that stuff? God Bless!!
Lol. Well, mostly just trying stuff! And UA-cam…😂
what gauge of wire should i use to do this for a 80volt battery?
I have a older 24v kobalt battery dated 12/17 it doesn't even have a light coming on. I jumped out to another 24v battery that was hot and nothing happened.
What should i try next?
I did this for my 40V battery for my Mower. All bars shows on the gauge when hooked up to the good battery... but soon as I unhook it will not charge (charging light does not come on) and the light in the battery doesnt gauge come on. Any thoughts?
