I'll tell you my experience...I've had two ultimate output batteries go bad where they only charge to the third bar...or the indicator light wouldn't light up to the 4th bar...tested on three chargers.
I got an Xtr drill kit on promo with the extra UO battery as a freebie
I exchanged the first battery no issue. But the second...that manger said I have to call kobalt. I showed him receipt and "no questions no hassle guarantee" on kobalt 24 v warranty. He said I would still have to call. I said " sounds like a hassle to me"
So I called and with this battery since it came with a tool kobalt gave me a number and said warehouse is depleted, take the drill charger battery, everything and go back to store.
So I did that and explained it was dumb I just need a battery I checked and they had the individual battery.... they agreed that was stupid and just gave me a battery only after calling kobalt and visiting the store twice.
Years before this I had one 4 amp 18650 cell battery go bad out of a stack I own. The lady at that store replaced it...had me grab a new one. No hassle, no questions asked.
It feels like there are issues with the ultimate output 4 amps.

Thanks for confirming that! Yes, absolutely no common sense to return everything when only the battery is the problem. It appears the process isn't as easy as even a couple years ago.

I have 3 and one only charging to 3 bars of these UO batteries. Two I purchased in eBay and the remaining came with tools. This sucks.

That's crazy, I have never heard of any other brand asking for the tool plus the bad battery, good to know..🤯

Kobalt used to a "No questions asked" return policy , but changed it and got stupid .

Yes the warrenty is from date manufacture not date bought. Kind of blows

Makes absolutely no sense, 5 year warranty on most power tools and 3 on batteries, lol. Whatever
