Another AWESOME sign as usual! I want to give KUDOs to Ryan for pointing out the tips & techniques used by Eric (Dad) in this video, I'm sure that all of the new sign carvers may not have picked up on them!
Thanks Bruce! We sure appreciate the support, buddy!
Looks great. Sure was glad to hear Ryan say carving upside down was weird. I thought it was just my brain "thang".
😂😂😂No it's definitely not just you. A lot of people have that issue
I have always told myself "It's just a line to follow, not an object" .. It's easier for the thought process and concentration. Same idea with a very large project. To me, A large sign is just a bunch of smaller signs and tackle each entity as such. Not as taunting of a task to me in my way of thinking any way.
Wow! Building one for my firehouse! Thank you! 👏
Any time, man! Thank you for your service!
WOW...That looks great! Pro's at work!
Thanks David!👍👍
You made this old Chief proud! Great looking sign and I hope I get to do that too.
Thanks Bill! And thank you for your service👍👍
Nice. I like the thick sign. Also with a thick board, you can carve really deep if you want, and that always makes for good sign. At least in my opinion.
I agree 100%! 👍👍
I love this so much. Great job. And thanks for showing the steps on making it. Beautiful. So good you guys are awesome
Thanks Charlie! We appreciate the support👍👍
👍👍👍 May this Christmas bring you blessings and happiness 🤗
Same to you and your family👍👍👍
The sign turned out awesome and for such a great cause! Love the deep chamfered edge on the thick wood. Glad you left it natural to show off the gorgeous end grain of the wood. That really set off the beautiful engraving you did on the sign. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.......and Sherlock too of course!!!
Thanks Lori! Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you as well
That sign is awesome!! I am definitely looking forward to getting that stencil. You did an amazing job Eric!
Thanks Pam!
Beautiful sign, Eric. Very nice work. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Thanks buddy! We got some great stuff planned for this year!
Very cool sign and for a good cause, it should bring lots of money in for the kids
Thanks buddy! I hope so, too
BEAUTIFUL as ever !!! This should do it's intent and then some I'm sure. Hope we get to find out the end result of your efforts!.
Thanks Gary! Ya, I'm kind of curious how much it'll bring as well!

Thanks Ozzie!
Very Nice, I really like the edge it looks super clean but still rustic. Sure wish I could find me some red wood here on the east coast.
Thanks buddy! We just get ours at Home Depot.
Very nice Eric. I definitely like the deep 45 angled edge. 🤜👍

Howdy Guys....
Sign looks really nice!!! 👌
I'm currently doing a very intricate Deer carving sign with vines, flowers and leaves surrounding it.
I've posted a few pics and a short video of my progress over in the 731, and, well...I keep getting "some" people saying "That isn't CARVING if I'm not using Chisels and it's NOT "Hand Carving" cause I'm using a Router.
I "Label" my work as Hand Carved cause, well, I'm the one doing it. I'm controlling what I carve, not a machine such as a cnc.
So...Can you clarify. What is it we are doing? Are we "Carving" or are we "Routing"?
Are we "Hand Carving" or are we "Hand Routing"?
What say You??
Well, to be honest I say those people are morons. It's not "hand" carving if you use a chisel either. It would be hand carving if you dig out the wood with yourr fingernails. No matter what, people are going to find something to complain about. Bottom line, if you're using your skill to control the tool and not relying on a computer to do it, it's hand carving.
We actually have a video coming out soon where we discuss freehand vs. cnc. It's DEFINITELY gonna ruffle some feathers HAHA
This is point on !! I've said the same general things. We can put all kinds of tools on top of a piece of wood .... and until we take control of those tools ... well, nothing happens. A CNC machine is taking the place of our "Hands ON" technique. CNC work by all means usually turns out perfect, but is no where near as personally satisfying .@@oldave100
@oldave100 Thank You for the reply. LOVE your humor.
As I mentioned, I believe if it's my hands in control of the router, then it's being carved by hand.
I looked up the definition of Wood Carving. It literally says "The act of removing wood with a tool to achieve a desired design".
That's exactly what we're doing.
Thanks for the reply 👍 😀
I live on the east coast and can’t find red wood
I hear that a lot. That's kind of crazy, we get ours at Home Depot
Do you bases come with screws?
No, you'll use the screw that hold the original baseplate on
Feel the same way about carving letters upside down. Really, there should be no difference since you’re just carving but there is something mental about knowing the letter is upside down. But like you said, get over it!
😂😂Dude, it's hard!
