Been watching your older videos on the lettering and been learning a lot. I will say you have always been very responsive to my questions on email. Getting ready to make a sign for friends who have a Food Truck and trying to decide on which lettering offset or Inset He sign will say “Hungry Hiker”
Thanks man, we really appreciate it. I personally like outset a little more than inset depending on the font. But also, if the board is super nice, I want to show that off as much as possible. So, I guess it just depends on what looks best😂😂
Eric I sent you an email of what I was talking about a picture of the cedar board and the lettering I went with. Hope to your advice on how I should proceed on Outset or Inset Thanks
Good morning Eric great video .. I've heard you say in other video's it never hurts to go back to the basics of learning and if someone doesn't do this everyday its a great video to help everyone thank you have a great day
YES!!!! Love this video!!!💯 I used the dumpling technique when I did a Coca-Cola Sign. I have it posted. You have given me so much inspiration I can't thank you enough. Your channel is one I highly recommend 👌 👍 Thank you so much for sharing all your fantastic knowledge. P.S. I'll be sure to grab some wood and start playing 😉🤣 Cheers! 🤘🤠🥃
Thanks so much for watching, the wonderful compliments, and spreading the word!!! I really appreciate it. Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you, eric@makeawoodsign.com
Another great vid for your standard background, Eric. I got my 45 deg Amana bit today and that's what I'm using rather than the 60 or 90. There's also a 30 deg bit that I may try later on. Thanks again for the tips.
Great video! Just getting started was making a sign for my daughter and son-in-law did a pretty good job with the letters(for me)then went deeper with the profile bit to get more room. I followed the same line and nicked my letters 😡🤬Thanks for all the info!
One more awesome informative and straight up way of teaching us regular folk how to be our best selves routing all the wood in the world. love it. love it a lot. Thank you Rhoten Family We are never alone Eric and Vickie are here to always bring us into light You guys are the best
Just gotta rub in the fact you got one heck of a good deal on the Porter Cable router. LOL I searched all the Lowes within a 50 radius trying to find one that price. Love the learning videos though.

Hey Dave I've got a question for you. What did you do before your laser machines and templates. Would you find templates on the internet or craft store? what was that process like
Back in the 70's & 80's (long before craft stores) we would buy them from a company that cast them out of plastic. The artwork we would use carbon paper. Here's an old video (13 years ago) where I showed the evolution of our artwork layouts long before we got a laser. ua-cam.com/video/sZW608chi6c/v-deo.html Hope this helps. If you any other questions feel free to email me direct, eric@makeawoodsign.com
Thank You for this video, Eric. This is one I'll be incorporating/referencing in the class(es) I teach ... well if the pandemic ever gets under control enough to the point I feel safe when the restrictions are lifted. I also feel confident that the majority of us viewers will find this video beneficial. I like the looks that "Dave's background' technique achieves! That you show at the end of the video! Question: As you showed this technique as an after-thought; Do you recommend doing the deeper background outer edge last (like you did in the video) or first (if you had planned to show this technique)? Does it matter which order the outer edge and texture are done in?
I sent you an email on this too. Great question. I should have said this on the video. I would do the parameter (cloud) first just like normal. Then adjust the depth shallower and do the background. Thank you Bruce...
New to the channel and I am trying to understand the bits that you are using to carve with. I keep looking up profile bits but I keep coming up with bits for CNCs but not for regular routers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
Hi Kyle, first of all thank you for watching!!! Hello,I tryed to use the freezer paper that you recommend but it did not work for me, what part is to be use shiny side to print the letter at láser printer???.It only worked with Ironing.
The freezer paper only works in Inket printers, not laserjet. Print on the shinny side. Here's a couple videos that may help ua-cam.com/video/DtWzSAw3qDs/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/YQz51Mln6_U/v-deo.html Let me know if you have any other questions, eric@makeawoodsign.com
