Love the tip about putting the sanding "eraser" in the vise. Can't believe I never thought of doing that but will from now on! Also great tip on applying the stain using a foam brush. Thanks for another great video!

I do want that DeWalt sander. Next on my list. This is always fun to learn all the many ways to do sign carving. The fun part is, you always get to learn with woodworking and you never get bored. I learn new techniques everytime I watch. Then its time to make some sawdust.

This is one video I have been searching for, as you know, pine here in Australia is cheap to buy and I was wondering how to stain it, I was going to experiment, but now I don't have to as you have explained it so well, saves me making a lot of loud cuss words in my shed 😂😂 Also learned about cleaning sanding pads, plus picked up on a few carving tips as to where I have been having trouble with letters, trial and error as they say, lucky I have a heap of wood laying around to practice on, Thanks Eric 😁

Yes, that gunstock is cool. Must try this shade. Much cooler ahade than what I have been using.
I really like it, I want to try a few others too...
If you like the gunstock, a color you may like is the Minwax Cherry, and if you want to go darker, try the English Chestnut.

I missed something. The last coat prior to staining; why? Is that supposed to protect the carved painted sections? I really like it and plan to use it. Tks Eric. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Does anyone have a preference on what sells better, inset or outset letters? I typically like inset but I'm so hard on myself where if I have a single wobbly letter I throw the sign out and lose money.
I know it's a hard not to be so critical on yourself but you have to remember you are typically the only one that sees all the mistakes. Took me a long time to learn that, but when I did it made a big difference. I much prefer outset letters. I think they catch the eye more and look more unique. Merry Christmas!!!
Do you ever stain redwood? If so, what stain do you like?
I like the color of redwood with clear on it so I don't stain redwood.
