    I didn’t wait the hour and had to reapply the glass beads so thanks for that hint. Can’t wait to see how well the sealer holds up outside. Also hope the paint gets your approval. One shot is expensive!

    Did I miss something. How do the glass beads adhere to sign if paint dry.

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  10 місяців тому +1

      The paint wasn't dry, but it was tacky. The paint we used takes quite a while to dry so we let it set for an hour before we spread the glass bead

      One shot is actually an automotive paint and this stuff seems to be really similar .

    This was real useful to know. I wasn't familiar with the glass beads. They show up nicely at night. I'm anxious to know how the different paint you tried works out because One Shot is too expensive for the few projects I would use it for. Also interested in finding out how the clear holds up outside. Sign looks great!!!

      Thank you Miss Lori. The Ronan paint seems to work like the one-shot. We'll keep everyone posted how this holds up[ outside.

      To be honest, I really can't remember. We've had this stuff for quite a while and don't have the packaging. But it shouldn't really matter and long as it sticks to the paint

      Thank you very much. I have been watching your and your Family’s videos the last 2 years and you have taught me everything I know about carving wood signs here In Canada. Glad that you take the time to share your knowledge. Watched your video on that critter paint sprayer but decided to use a couple of different airbrushes instead. They are perfect to be able to stay away from the aerosol cans. Still use aerosol flat for the letter spraying only. Airbrush the clear coats inside the house as well. Thanks Again.

    Wow, that came out great! But, now I have questions!😀
    I made a 2x12x12 for my old work. It was also in a rural area with a hard to find turnoff.
    I used a primer. Do you find that you get good durability without it?
    I also used exterior house paint. That stuff dried so fast that hubbie essentially had to follow directly behind with the beads. Even 5 min and they wouldn’t stick. Did your paint stay tacky that whole hour?
    At the time, I had read posts that said that if you use a clear coat, it will reduce the reflective effect of the beads. Did you do any testing before and after the clear coat?
    Sorry for all of the questions!! But the beads did appear to sink in a lot, and there didn’t seem to be a sweet spot between the application and the sprinkling.
    Thanks so much!

    • @oldave100
      @oldave100  10 місяців тому +1

      #1 we didn't use any primer before we painted. There really wasn't a need for it.
      #2 the one shot paint takes quite a while to dry so we waited an hour before we laid the bead.
      #3 we did all the finishing before we painted. The bead was the last step.
      Hope this helps👍👍
