It's a perfect bike, riding isn't about technology, it's about the feeling it gives you but I get it. Great video. 👍

I know what you mean . Bikes are about what they feel like to ride and what the overall experience is . I do like the F - typical Suzuki , “edgy”1000 with a great engine but I really like the new GT . Another step again 👍

Another great journal by Michael. Had the privilege to ride this bike of his for a couple of weeks during the summer. Enjoyed riding it but the clutch was fierce like nothing I've ridden before. Looking forward to test riding the new GT version.😊

Well that helped pass the time whilst in Morrisons car park Michael. I like Suzuki too. I loved my GSX1400 with all its little grumbles. As you say, Suzuki I think are a tad lacklustre these days but do sell value for money honest bikes. Thanks for your short review, always interesting to watch and hear what you’re thoughts are on the collection in the garage. Cheers and here’s wishing you and yours a happy Christmas. 🎄☃️

😂 Not at all Michael. I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciate your videos. I bought my 1400 on looks alone and had no regrets, the only regret was trading her in for my brand new 09 plate Honda CB1000r in HRC colours, those bikes are like chalk and cheese and I enjoyed owning and especially riding both bikes. Obviously I’m absolutely loving my RS with a passion I’ve never had before with any of my other bikes. Thanks again for taking the time to post your videos. 👏👏👏

dry weight could be in case you wanted to ship it and usually you pay transit by weight. another reason is it being a fire hazard during transit if it has all its fluids on board.

Hi Michael, Interesting your video but hear are my experiences with one.
Changed rear shock to a "Wilbers" from Germany about 460 euros.
Changed the front suspension internals to "Andreani" from Italy, specialist suspension factory! Fitted in Athens by Wolf Racing for 680 euros.
Both these manufacturers make the suspension to YOUR riding weight ie with kit on!!!
AND with superior damping you have the bike set!
That's why Suzuki can sell bikes at that price, simple as that.
Also the original horn is crap not hearable at speed with helmet on/maybe ear plugs in.
Change to PIAA double horn but as they are plastic keep away from engine!!!
    Happy riding!!!

Good review and bang on with the plus and minuses. I have the black red, 17 reg version and it's either the most beautiful bike to ride or the worst b***h ever. Fast flowing roads, mid range-high revs / speeds, simply superb. Mini roundabouts doing a right is like riding a 50p coin. just waiting for the throttle to snatch you up on the roof of the van in front if you hit a minor bump. Biggest issue I've had was a massive tank slapper and later followed by a couple of manageable head shakes, all under the same conditions. High acceleration to overtake onto bumpy road, back sagged down and front went light + pilot error. Since then I have adjusted the suspension front and rear (stiffer) and this seems to have evened the bike out. Still needs a pro to set it up and at £40 I'll do this soon. (BTW the rear does have rebound, it just takes a lot of detective work to find it). It's a bike you need to adapt your riding to and once I've done this I'll go and buy something a bit more mundane that suits my age properly !!! (not)

Do you wanna know wet and dry weight because some bikes have large fuel tanks and some bikes have smaller fuel tanks gas is around 8 pounds per gallon so if you had a 6 gallon tank, it would be almost 50 pounds if you’re telling somebody about your bike that is460 pounds or over 500 pounds either either sounds heavy or not bad but if it had a 2 gallon tank, then it would only be 16 pounds more

Bought mine in 2018. Throttle a bit snatchy and looked to have TPS sensor changed or a refresh. Told if a reflash I would lose ABS. Who knows if true so I did not mess with it. Bike goes like stink though! The phrase in the video, "upright sport bike" fits perfectly. 163hp at crank, 150hp at rear wheel and torque down low. Thanks for the video!

Stock suspension is really not up to the task. I've replaced rear shock with Nitron R1 and the difference is beyond belief. Front is not bad, but K-tech valves and springs made it perfect.
Also, wheelbase is ridiculously long, so combined with 50 profile rear tire makes bike slow to turn and understeery. 55 profile rear and +3 rear sprocket (if you prefer stock gearing you can remove pair of chain links) will make it the most intuitive handling street bike.
As for the fuel mapping... yeah, it's bad. Really, really bad. Just disconnect O2 sensor and take it for a spin, see what difference it makes only with base map (it will not try to lean it further since O2 is disconected) and it still needs more fuel than that. Beside, it's throttle restricted above 10500rpm, and has ignition restriction in lower gears, so it REALLY benefits from ECU flash.

your review was interesting and informative. however , i don`t think you did it justice. obviously you reveiwed it without riding it for sufficient miles to have a more informed opinion. i own the same bike and one gets used to the throttle. i don`t think you mentioned the abs, the anti stall feature. the levels of rear wheel slip settings. it has a great dash board, lots of relevant info. good weather protection. all in all it is a very well put together bit of kit.

Looking for a does all but fun biased bike. Any other suggestions? KTM Super Duke GT? (used, 2021). Thanks for the video.

Not sure if that is fair or not but was his experience . Have fun 👍

    • @michaelmam

It felt similar to the GT version which I would describe as “medium” rather than sports bike tuck ? Of the straight 4 sports tourers I have tried I think the BMW XR was the most spacious . The Kawasakis might have a little bit more room than the Suzukis but not much . I guess it all depends on how long your legs are and how much bend you find comfortable .. 👍
