    Now, this is very interesting!
I've never been so confident of Sekiro being connected to the other games as now, for starters.
The fact that the Serpentine Traveler is considered by some to have the " face of a dragon" may indicate what one could term as a "difference in standards"; as we know, serpents are considered failures at being dragons, and are symbolic of the Undead, sharing a sort of "kinship" to them in their greed. The very fact that dragons possess human descendants gives some questions; did they take human form? Are their 'descendants" worshippers who took forms closer to the dragons they meditated around? Because it seems to be a trend that each dragon covenant's members resemble the dragon they center around. It could be that the people of the East worshipped a certain serpentine dragon.......
    A " pale beast", perhaps?
I've heard it pointed out by Honored Madman that one of Alonne's shoulder plates depicts a viper; an interesting choice.
The masks worn by the serpent mendicants , Shiva and Alonne seem to trace their heritage back to a single type; the masks worn by Channelers, who unlike the others, possess functioning eyes of their own. I remember that their original name terms them as "priests".
The mendicants themselves are very, very interesting, because while clearly serving the local dragon-kin and the Nameless King who is their patron, they cast Dark sorceries. Their castings without a doubt produce Humanities, though they oddly possess some sort of golden hue.
You may remember our talk on the Nameless King; I fear that after his banishment, his obsessions went to.....
    Dark places.
"Nothing will remain once the bell is tolled."

Oh yes. I'm pretty convinced the world of Sekiro is connected to the other FromSoftware worlds.
I was actually a bit surprised at how much serpent/dragons were connected with the East. I have no proof so far, but I personally believe the Nameless King may have resided in the East at one point as well.
I like the idea of the Nameless King going super dark after his banishment.

@@ChannelYoshimitsu It's actually not so strange when you think about it.
Back when you found Vendrick and Shanalotte told you to go to Aldia's Manor and the Dragon Aerie, she told you to go to " The East". It was a little confusing for me, too; it was the kind of sentence more suited to a game where I had a map....
But maybe it was included for a reason.
The Ancient Dragon, it's covenant and the dozens of wyverns surrounding it live in the eastern fringes of Drangleic. And in the case of the wyverns, they are most likely foreign to it.
      Why?
"Do the dragons watch over the land of their own will, or are they in the grip of one of Aldia's spells?"
The implication is that the wyverns, who are in fact true descendants of the Ancient Dragons, watch over the rest of Drangleic from their seat in Dragon Aerie, and once provided themselves to the kingdom as mounts for Dragonriders.
Did they do so of their own will?
Well, regardless of whether they did, where could they have come from, if the Aerie is not their natural home?
      Simple.
      Further East.
      _
Nobody takes the Nameless King's design seriously. Everyone I talk to just thinks it was an " earlier version" , or that it wasn't intended. Despite the fact they even kept a specific death scream for him( a very Hollow sounding one at that).
But they're not wrong about one thing; it's difficult to explain. After all, there's no indication the Nameless King became one of the Lords Of Cinder. He is not listed among the Thrones of Firelink. And yet, he looks as Hollow as his father.
      Did he link the Flame?
But then, there are his mendicants, casting Dark sorceries.
What are they doing? What could this mean?
What has drained the son of Gwyn so?
"Touching an ancient dragon scale gives one a glimpse into the abyss. Believers in the dragon will rise above this petty corporeal existence."
      The Abyss, eh....
      Poor, poor son of Gwyn.
Didn't you know that when you look into the Abyss, the Abyss must look into you?

Another thing I want to point out is the fact that Eastern Set not only offers high slash defense but also provides good defense against fire when compared to other elemental damage negations of the set, The Eastern Set also provides the least resistance against lightning compared to other stats of the set as well.
I also noticed that The Serpent Men in Dark Souls 3 has fire resistance.
So, your theory is very believable.
The Channeler's Helm from Dark Souls 1 has similar looks to Alonne's Helm and the description in the English version said The Channelers are "the eyes" for Seath The Scaleless, Although I don't know what to make of it. So I would love to hear your opinion on this.
As always, Love your lore analysis. I hope you make another video on Dark Souls!

I find it so amusing that a japanese developer, who creates to the most part european history inspired worlds, places these mysterious abd strong figures like shiva and alonne (among others) inside their games and mysticizes their own homeland as this fabled land of the east haha
Once again an amazing video. Especially the armor part, theyre all similar in color palette as well.
Im pretty sure this theory has truth to it.
I couldve done without the sekiro spoiler though :,)
I remember you mentioning that another video you would make is about vendrick and nashandra. It would be great if you went into the drang knight description from ds3. Old want shield and the ruin armor in ds3... etc. - also maybe tackle the subject of how drangleic played a part in the creation of lothric ...
    Have a great day!

This may be considered essentialist or borderline racist (by contemporary Western standards) but I think Xanthous (contextually) refers to the yellowish skin tone of Easterners (8:23 is a perfect example) (Xanthous was an old fashioned racial descriptor used in the past, alongside Leucous and Melanous). Contrast with the "white" of Gwyn or the "black" of the Pygmies.
Mirrah is in the absolute East of DS2, and is the capital of Lindelt.
Dragon Shrine is a "Xanthous" Temple (made of sandstone), where Drakekeepers drop Dragon Charms, which are perfect imitations of the originals, crafted by Lindelt. Original charms were looted from Shulva by the Drakebloods, Lindelt's forebears.

    • @core-nix1885
      @core-nix1885 7 місяців тому

Between DS2 and DS3, Lindelt essentially revived the Church of Londor (Lande d'Or = Golden Land) to it's past glory, and merged with them.
Sulyvahn is the son of a Lindelt witchtree, raised in a Lindelt replica-painting. He installed the "Angelic Faith" in Lothric, which is his own *branch* of Lindelt fundamentalism, designed to allow Yuria to find a True Monarch to bring about a new cycle or, failing that, restore balance to the existing cycle by bringing an "age of Dark".

Considering that in the Dark Souls universe the soul is a separate entity to the body vessel, yeah it would make sense that there would be people with dragon-like body vessels. What your theory suggests is that dragon worship and dragon-kin is the strongest in the east. I've noticed something similar, but it's the giants that have an eastern connection with the name of that DS3 'Oni Slayer' and its item description:
"A unique greatbow handed down in an eastern land, where tales are told of its use in slaying giant horned oni".
A loose theory of mine is that not only do the giants come from the east, but some of them might even be Chaos Demon Giants. While we don't fight any oni across the games, there is evidence of them existing in Lordran as there's a giant skull in Ash Lake with demon fangs. We know that when giants die they become trees and right next to the Great Hollow in Blighttown there's a unique weapon there called Server. This is shaped like the Nepalese Sacrificial Sword Ram Dao used for beheading animals. It is possible that this head and the Great Hollow were once a giant that is probably the corpse of the Nameless Blacksmith, especially with all those leeches around the Server weapon that drop tons of Large Titanite Shards and Green Titanite Shards for smithing. Not only do you have the Dragon Worshiping Ash Lake and the Chaos Demon Ruins surrounding the Great Hollow, but Shiva of the East is seen lurking in Blighttown looking for the Chaos Blade. Then you've got the Titanite Demon in DS1 that has no head and drops Demon Titanite that looks similar to Titanite Scales that are pillaged from those immature dragons in Arch Dragon Peak.
