i very much like the theory that, not only is lloyd a grey giant, but after he was usurped, he became forlorn and restored the painted world, taking the name of Ariandel. This would explain why Friede's theme contains so many references to Lloyd.
I'm blown away that we now have some more lore around Allfather Lloyd, the idea that he's a grey giant who are in a sense mineral beings made of grey arch trees at least serves as an intermediary between dragons to gods. I've also heard that Ariandel might be the alias of Allfather Lloyd which would make tons of sense why that giant is in the painted world. I always felt he was out of place, just some random support character for El Friede, but him being thee Allfather Lloyd makes the DLC way more interesting and more conclusive to the end of the Age of Fire when you kill him. Also the bit about "Vereor Nox" should be "Let the flames guide thee" makes more sense as well. Some things I've noticed that I haven't seen lore enthusiasts cover that you might want to look into. This is a copy and paste that I posted on Sunn Brothers Rosaria video as well as some additional thoughts: When it comes to the blind and cut out tongues, this appears to be a tradition of the Way of White. From my observations across the games, these are removed to prevent followers from seeding doubt in the gods. Nico has his tongue cut out, Horace has his cut out too as he was from the Cathedral of the Way of White before it was overthrown by the Deacons of the Deep. Most importantly though is that firekeepers have these afflictions (Anastasia has her tongue cut out and is also apparently blind). This appears to be the main purpose for the practice as we know firekeepers when granted eyes can see the lies the gods have done to humans and the logic of the world (DS3's main firekeeper). Firekeepers also appear to be the instrument to put the undead curse onto corpse as curses in Dark Souls are spoken (Basilisks, Curse Jars, Seath's breath, DS3 jailers) so it would make sense for disobedient firekeepers to have their tongues cut out. Another point, Velka is the goddess of the Way of White and has a miracle called 'Vow of Silence' which fits perfectly with tongues being removed. In DS2, the white and poison statues in The Gutter seem to be representing the two types of firekeepers. White statues representing the White Robes and the poison statues representing the Dingy Robes. I think this represents that the poison statues are symbolizing Dingy Robe firekeepers putting the undead curse on dead bodies as you can see the ritual being made by Anastasia in DS1 opening cutscene. Also in DS2 NG+ a Dingy Robe invades you when you make your way down to The Gutter, symbolizing that it's related to the trash/sediment of the world. If I'm right about all of this then it is possible that Velka could be the mother of the Undead Curse and possibly a firekeeper as the Undead Curse is shackled to bonfires. Another bit that could also be related but is more a wild theory is Tranquil Walk of Peace. Is that supposed to symbolize firekeepers being maimed? Hard to say, I've never seen anyone tackle this miracle before. Also I don't know if you mentioned it or I saw it from some other lore video, but Fina is possibly a wife of Gwyn. Fromsoft loves to do subtle Easter Eggs and Prince Lothric embraces Prince Lorian like the Embraced armor. Just throwing that out there if you want to look into it.
hey, my friend. Read this, please. Is my theory... velka's powers have a great influence on the gods - is considered to have a great range of influence even as gods are concerned. It is literally a RELIGIOUS APPROPRIATION, as if to soften the "first" SCHISM among the defenders of the Natural Order - I mean maintaining the natural flow of things. I would like to make an observation here. We know that Caitha was loved. We know that Velka, the black-haired witch is considered HERETIC for manipulating spells with INTELLIGENCE. Like Velka, Caitha is considered anathema / HERETIC. Even more interesting is that caitha chime says "Its existence [of the chisme or of the GODDESS?] Is concealed in the name of the Archbishop, as it is anathema". Once again, the doors are open to consider that the name CAITHA is an appropriation, renaming, of faith in the Goddess Velka, MOTHER OF THE FORLONS With the disruption theology will in the future give rise to the Church of Sable in Londor, while the discourse theology the WAY OF WHITE - which needs an obscure narrative to maintain its condition, as the Deep Ring says in DS 3. In pre-Christian SLAVIC TRADITIONS, a child less than 7-10 years old would bear a "substitutional name", the purpose of which was to deflect attention from the child and thereby to protect it from the curiosity of evil powers. A child who survived to 7-10 years was considered worthy of care and was granted adult status and a new adult name during a RITUAL FIRST HAIRCUT. The curious about all this? THE PAINTER HAS NO NAME AND HIS HAIR IS VEEEERY LONG - Your mother never cut your hair. some interpretations: the mother is Velka, she was never able to name her daughter; or Velka hid Priscilla in the painted world and Priscilla died without naming her daughter; or Velka hid the painter in the painting and could never name her daughter, a very old knight, before the schism, GAEL, remained loyal to his lady (THE GREAT ONE / Velka) and his lineage to try to break the curse / sin of Gwyn I would very much like you to read this theory about Manus, Filianore and the wedding ritual of the Church of Londor. www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/6c4it5/theory_manus_and_filianore_share_an_incredible/dhrsp3p/
Always great to see you upload it's surprisingly rare for Fromsoft lore people (or "From Brains", as they've been called in Japan for decades by this point) in the west to actually look at the original Japanese text, so ones like you who do are a real treat
Amazing video as usual! Regarding the minor topic of Lloyd being a collateral relative, maybe he managed to be worshiped as the primary god of the pantheon as long as Gwyndolin remained in the shadows? It looks like after the events of Dark Souls Gwyndolin adopted a more hands on approach, at the same time Caitha also got more prominent, so maybe her clerics got him removed, or maybe it has simply something to do with the regime change in Thorolund. Anyways, keep up the good work!
To say that the giants are related to trees makes a lot of sense, as they’re oddly absent from the original intro. Sullyvahn being literally related to trees in Ariamis’ world also makes sense. Both he and lloyd have positions of judge and archbishop. And if you look at Elden Ring, with the faith being so closely to trees, Or Demon’s Souls, where god is literally a tree. You can see that missing pattern restored in Dark Souls.
I always found Gwyn having “parents” or “uncles” to be weird though, as they’re strangely absent from the main lore, and Gwyn having an uncle that’s a great tree is even odder. But Lloyd’s relation to Gwyn is oddly similar to Chronos’ and Gaia’s relation to Zeus. Gwyn being Zeus, the young hip flashy human god, and Lloyd being like this primeval titan, which Gwyn supersedes.
finally real lore. One of the better lore videos ive seen in a while. there isnt alot of content for the people who are down the rabbit hole a little too far.
You’ve gotta keep making videos. This is my single favorite lore video. It ties up things that were just out of grasp so conclusively and in a narratively satisfying way. eternally grateful to you for making this
this was very interesting, especially the bit about Caitha and Wolnir and their connection to death Nito being a giant sort of makes sense but would that imply that Giants experience death in a different manner then the pygmies? Now if Caitha was Gwyns wife, she might have had a similar connection to death as well, especially since she is revered in the undead crypt below the Shrine of Amana, is that perhaps, why no one ever spoke of her during the times of Gwyns Era... Going by the term Greatwood, that would imply that the Curse-rotted Greatwood in the undead Settlement was possibly a Giant´s corpse that was corrupted by an outside source, perhaps the transposing kiln of Courland, ohh man so many possibilities, I love watching these videos, they are so inspiring in a way
Absolutely groundbreaking video. You have filled in so many blanks in our comprehension and knowledge of the world. Especially when it comes to the giants, who were always a big enigma in my eyes.
Best analyst on UA-cam. Your work never fails to impress and enlighten me. I could only imagine the clarity we could've had if some of these translations were a bit more literal and not so, how do I say it, freestyled.
Thank you for the great comment. I too sometimes imagine a Dark Souls trilogy that had a much more accurate and literal translation. But until that becomes a reality, I'll try my best to bring over the lost lore from the Jpn versions.
Thank you very much for another video, i was wondering, could you in the future do a video regarding ''the Deep''? The concept has always been fascinating to me and i've seen some people say the translation of it has some errors, i would love to see if you could clear it up to us, thank you and have a blessed day!
This has instantly become my new favorite souls lore channel, so thanks for the work u do. I wish there were more channels as serious about the lore as this. I will be commenting and listening closely!
these are so amazing and fill me with joy to experience the answers found in the lore. I hope this gets more recognition and im excited for the next video
Fantastic video. It's been a while since I've seen a lore video that truly surprised me with an insight I hadn't considered at all. I feel like there might be some parts here that aren't AS clear cut as others, but you've definitely convinced me that there's a definitive, deliberate connection between trees (specifically, the archtrees), the giants and Nito. Brilliant stuff, gonna check the rest of your videos out as well!
I also think Lloyd used to be apart of the Darkmoons before Velka and later Gwydolin. The great sword of judgement and Lloyds sword ring seemingly describe the same thing.
a long time ago I left a theory of mine about Velka being Caitha in your video about Velka. In this video I raised the hypothesis that Loyd was a gray giant. Your theory in this video strongly reinforces my impression that Velka is Caitha. I invite you to revisit your theory about caitha and velka and the theory link I left in your video about velka. In any case, I will post below again the considerations I left in that video. Big hug my friend. Hope you're well. ---------- velka cannot be a daughter of chaos as her powers have a great influence on the gods - is considered to have a great range of influence even as gods are concerned. I completely agree with your analysis, as a long time Allfather Lloyd theorist and enthusiast, i love seeing people talk about him because i belive his influence is understated in the lore community. I was also pleasantly suprised you brought up Nito in the end of the video. I cant put my finger on it but i suspect Nito and Lloyd have some nebulous connection. For starters lloyds seems to have something to do with humanity's white looking gasuous soul. 1. We're never given any explicit explanation for why human souls look different than lord souls. What we can sumrise is that souls that came from the first flame are firey, and shards of those souls are a firey golden color. While souls found on human corpses are all white and gasous. The appearance of the souls seems to be in complete disregard of the number of souls you acquire from them (for example, there are human souls that drop more than the moonlight butterfly's soul) 2. The humanity icon represents humanity as dark that's sourounded/ecapsulated by this white gassy soul. From this we can conclude that humans are made of both the dark (the thing the firive pygmy gave them) and this other thing, this white soul. For these 2 reasons I have long concluded that the "Allfather" is the one responsible for giving humanity its white gassious capsule. additional evidence: Lloyd and the way of white have are represented by white halo iconography. Many WoW spells such as wrath of gods, force, etc incorporate the white circle as a prominent part of their design. The white halo represent the soul of white that encapsulates the dark, once I realised this a lot of dark souls conceptual symbolism became more clear. Lloyds talisman's gassy white smoke is the first obvious clue for lloyd having to do with human souls, but its relevance goes further when analysing its peculiar ability to close mimics. The mimic being a allegory for humanity(with its benign exterior, and avaricious interior: soul outside, dark inside), when you open it (unseal humanity), you're revaling its "monstrous" inside. Lloyd's talisman uses its affinity for human soul to reseal the soul, hence reclosing the chest. In the description of the Lloyd's talisman it uses the "封" kanji, which means, 'to seal', when explaining its effect on the undead. This metaphor is further elaborated in the DLC, the abyss is what happens when manus's white soul failed to contain the darkness within, if you look at manus' soul it looks like a humanity who's dark is spreading wildly, escaping the shackle of the soul. This is also what is metaphorised by him losing his pendant, the pendant is allegorical to his soul, it makes sense that when we find it, its shattered. In terms of timeline, the incident with Manus proved to gwyn and the gods that the human soul was not enough to contain the dark, and thus gwyn and/or the way of white developed the dark sign. The dark sign is an elaboration of the same concept, adding an additional ring of fire directly from the gods to shackle the dark. The dark sign also aids in kindeling something that directly strengthen the the age of fire. So about Nito: Nito's cloak resembles the form of humanity, he is also a giant like lloyd likely is (i agree with your analysis in this video). He also holds the rite of kindling, something the description speciflly attributes to him (it wasn't a power given to him by gwyn, as far as we know). Its also peculiar that Nito is placed geographically past the tomb of the giants which holds the divine ember, an ember used by the way of white. Also we never get a full explanation to what the WoW sidequest people (i forget their names) wanted to do in the tomb of the catacombs. What does the way of white want to do in there, most people thin they want to steal the rite of kindling but that doesn't seem convincing to me at all given there just 2 random clerics and a maiden. To be honest i have more question than answers but it feels like a connection between Lloyd and Nito is being made, i just dont understand the nature of the connection.
Alright i watched all your vids in one go and im really stoked :D 10/10 stuff Really liking this more serious style as opposed to the shallow vaati sobstories or why everyone is velka videos. For this reason may i ask, was the first or previous king of lothric the Nameless king? (had to be the king of something) And are his followers at lothric who rode dragons(wyverns) rode their own friends who turned to imperfect dragons at archdragon peak? Also things i noticed but cant put my finger on them: The Ghrus start to turn look like the Stormdrake, the Elder Ghrus start to turn into DS1 Everlasting dragon(the fluffy in the nest), the pus of men have wyverns bits, even those dead demon clerics have fleshy bits growing that Oceiros has. These same almost dragons have horns like the ringed knight weapons have
It's INSANE how much detail is found in the kanji. It's like a whole world to explore in itself. Kind of jealous of Japanese speakers Hang on a second... Was this Miyazaki's devious plan to get everyone to learn Japanese? Unironically I wonder if there was an idea to get people to cooperate from different nations, especially with how much varied human history/mythology goes into these games
Oh my god! Everything makes so much sense now! Excellent video! Please keep doing those. I like how you break down these translations phrase by phrase or giving insight how words spelled. It’s great. Also I really liked the detail you mentioned about the armor of clerics making them closer in appearance to giants etc. i was always wandering how much giant and human societies collided in prime ages. It is really hard to picture how day to day life was for an average human in the age of fire lol
Any findings on the Throne Watcher and Defender? I think they represent the Dark Moon and the Way of White. Who is in charge of the Way of White in Dark Souls 2, would that make Drangleic and the Throne of want a testing ground?
I guess the translators used the term "deriative fraud" to indicate that Lloyd calling himself the "Allfather" is fraudulent due to him not being Gwyn's father or any kind of direct relation to him.
Amazing video as always. I find the idea to of caitha of being a giant nice. Giants being made out of the stony archtrees and her being one gives her crying jewels (minerals found in stone) a bit more sense. I still dont really believe it though. A depiction of a big woman in the undead crypt does not translate immedietaly to someone being a giant, it could also just be an allegory for how profoundly important caitha is. Caitha to me makes more sense as nitos bethrothed, but i have no grounds for this. so please correct me Still Im not completely convinced on the drangleic giants being a "hollow" version of the type that yhorm is. As far as I had understood giants dont hollow. It would finally put into perspective who yhorms forefathers are though. I think a wonderful video a idea would be about the giants in ds2 and how they fit in, the place they take, why there is one in lothrics firelink shrine.
Thank you! I love bringing many new theories into the soulsbourne universe. I do agree the depiction of the giant woman in Undead crypt doesn't automatically equal a depiction of a giant. It just fit so perfectly with my theory I just went with it. :) I'm still looking into piecing it together, but I'm pretty convinced Caitha is a daughter of Nito and is a niece to Lloyd. With the DS2 giants, I'll see if I can piece together a lore vid that'll focus more on the Giants of DS2 in the future.
As for the "collateral relative" part, I don't necessarily think that it conflicts with the "derivative fraud" part. As Gwyn's uncle - especially, one without blood relation - he wouldn't be next in line to the seat of power, at least if we're assuming that general European-esque customs apply here. The fact that he took control of the Way of White despite the fact that some of Gwyn's children are still alive and IN LORDRAN (looking at you, Gwyndolin) would explain why the translators went with this, over the literal translation.
I agree with Lloyd being both giant and a god, I think it would make sense that Nito is related to Lloyd, as he and Gwyn received Souls first. If Velka were Nito's child that would make sense how given Lloyd is Nito's brother. The witches have a strange affinity to pyromancy as do the giants. To me seem like Dragon traits, something the Light bearers do not possess.
18:00 Interesting that Wolnir wanted to be Last of the Dead and worked with Black Flame. I've thought for a while that Life and Death started with Nito, Filianore (Velka) and Kalameet. Wolnir's bracelets might represent the Shackles of the Gods, like Gwynevere's armbands and Gwyn's bracelets and anklets.
I've had similar theories for Kalameet but I could never piece it together so I'm curious of your theory regarding the involvement of Kalameet with life and death.
@@ChannelYoshimitsu I just think he was the 1st of the Archdragons (and the 1st thing in general) to be cursed with existence, by a ritual involving Filianore's Holy Spear. Before that, everything was in the Abyss, existing only as unformed ideas (this is why the dragons were immortal). Sorry if the following sounds muddled or confused, I've been reading between the lines for a long time, and I've reached wildly different conclusions to a lot of people. Dark Souls is all about this interplay between Absence (Dark, ○, Truth) and Presence (Fire, ×, Falsehood), which informs its difficult story. The word Kalameet is a transposition of the Arabic word Kalimat, meaning Words. Titanite Slabs symbolise Words (there's also one in Kalameet's arena). The Darksign also seems related to Words. A *sign* "that *signifies* an accursed Undead." Brand is also synonymous with Logo, short for Logotype, meaning Wordmark. Even "The Gutter" can refer to the vertical margin between blocks of text. It's too long to go into in a single comment, but I think the theme of Words in Dark Souls is an elaborate metaphor based on the bridging of presence and absence, informed by the following concepts; Logos (in the Christian sense and in Heraclitus' philosophical sense), Atma and Maya (Hinduism), Trace (Derrida). There's also a theme of "Erection (tatsu) and Erosion (shoku)" as representative of impermanence, bundled in with this. Sorry for going on such a tangent again, basically I think the main 3 themes are; pessimism, perennialism and postmodernism.
I don't think Londor is the ruins of New Londo. I'm of the theory that many residents from Londo ended up in New Londo and thats why so many things overlap between the two countries.
IMO it's a callback to the Witchtrees of Lindelt (hence the nearby Mirrah set and Hodrick's Sunset set). Sulyvahn's been running the shop for a while in DS3, and he's a fella from a Lindelt Painting (the Shaded Woods were just a sketch in DS2, before they recreated the Painted World).
@@ChannelYoshimitsu (Sorry for the long post, pal, I got a bit carried away - note that I presume Mirrah is the capital of Lindelt, and Shulva is the capital of Leydia, and I don't have the full picture I'm just theorycrafting) Yeah, the Lindelt Monastery liked to LARP as Painting Guardians. One such monk hides behind a painting in Aldia's Keep NG+. I reckon Sulyvahn is related to St. Serreta, who I think is the original Birch Maiden, and who is imprisoned in the Painting of Ariandel. Gael also carries the Mirrah shield, connecting Lindelt to the Painting. I believe the Dragon Charms carried by the Drakekeepers, Desert Sorceresses and Amana Priestesses are perfect Lindelt recreations that are indistinguishable from the real Leydia Dragon Charms carried by the Sanctum Priestesses and Gyrm (Doors of Pharros treasure) [Note: The sorceresses also carry recreated Lingering Dragoncrest Rings (+1)] Aldia's "ancient" dragon is also a recreation, possibly of the Ash Lake dragon (itself a recreation), and the Black Dragon weapons are offshoot recreations of Kalameet's tail weapon (Obsidian Greatsword). I also think Straid is an agent of Lindelt, seeing how he's the only source of Lindelt's Unveil miracle, also the nearby Ruptured Hollows (also found in Dragon Aerie, Grave of Saints and the Gutter) aren't hostile to him - which I find sus. Basically, I reckon Lindelt are a kind of Illuminati/Templar faction responsible for preserving history and tradition [Spearing Sinh = 2nd Sin, a re-enactment of the 1st] [Blue Sentinels = Blades of the Darkmoon 2.0]
Praise the lore!
Genuinely one of the best lore videos that I’ve seen in years.
Praise the lore!
Thanks for the recommending my channel as well! :)
i very much like the theory that, not only is lloyd a grey giant, but after he was usurped, he became forlorn and restored the painted world, taking the name of Ariandel. This would explain why Friede's theme contains so many references to Lloyd.
I like the idea that father Ariandel is Lloyd. Makes sense to me too.
This makes me wonder if Ariamis was also a giant as well.
I thought Ariandel was a Corvian. Y’know, because of his face.
@@ChannelYoshimitsuariamis is "Eremiasu" in japanese
I can never get tired of your dark souls theories and it is amazing how they elaborate and evolve over time
I'm blown away that we now have some more lore around Allfather Lloyd, the idea that he's a grey giant who are in a sense mineral beings made of grey arch trees at least serves as an intermediary between dragons to gods.
This is a copy and paste that I posted on Sunn Brothers Rosaria video as well as some additional thoughts:
When it comes to the blind and cut out tongues, this appears to be a tradition of the Way of White.
Hidden weapons are a kind of ASSUMPTION of blessed weapons. We can conclude that the influence of the occult / heresy / Velka is BEYOND THE EXISTENCE OF THE GODS - beyond gwyn, nito, wizalith, etc.
On Griggs' statement: As he sees it, there are no gods, no transcendence, only truth, and Logan wishes to elucidate it.
It is this heretical methodology. We can interpret it as: there are no gods, they are a fake, there is only "truth" / reality / power. Understanding that the gods are not legitimate is what made Logan able to move forward. Understanding that the Gods are not legitimate is considered a HERETIC METHODOLOGY
I am strongly inclined to believe that Caitha is the only God who has changed his name according to tradition. I think she was originally Velka. In fact, all the lore observed for Caitha fits perfectly when we consider it by Velka. Not just written lore, but the aesthetics of items related to caitha sometimes resemble crows and refer to Carim.
Especially the theological evolution within the way of white the religious APPROPRIATION of Velka / Caitha. Velka's spells are "original", dark, as she was. The spells related to Caitha are NEVER said that they were created by her, but by the apostle Morne, explain the golden aura.
It is literally a RELIGIOUS APPROPRIATION, as if to soften the "first" SCHISM among the defenders of the Natural Order -
I mean maintaining the natural flow of things.
Once again, the doors are open to consider that the name CAITHA is an appropriation, renaming, of faith in the Goddess Velka, MOTHER OF THE FORLONS
With the disruption theology will in the future give rise to the Church of Sable in Londor, while the discourse theology the WAY OF WHITE - which needs an obscure narrative to maintain its condition, as the Deep Ring says in DS 3. As for Loyd I agree with EVERYTHING you said, but I invite you to note the following point: the CARIM clerics (related to Velka / Church of Sable) accuse the title "allfather / POPE" of FALSE, he IS NOT A GOD. So I believe that Loyd was just a JUDICATOR, just like ARGO. Loyd, the judicator in charge of maintaining the rekindling of FIRST FLAME through the DECREE OF THE KING.

There are other considerations to make. In pre-Christian
SLAVIC TRADITIONS, a child less than 7-10 years old would bear a "substitutional name", the purpose of which was to deflect attention from the child and thereby to protect it from the curiosity of evil powers. A child who survived to 7-10 years was considered worthy of care and was granted adult status and a new adult name during a RITUAL FIRST HAIRCUT.
The curious about all this?
VELKA is the only name of the Gods that is not in tolkien elvish, but in SLAVIC, and it means - THE GREAT ONE.
THE PAINTER HAS NO NAME AND HIS HAIR IS VEEEERY LONG -
Your mother never cut your hair.
some interpretations: the mother is Velka, she was never able to name her daughter; or Velka hid Priscilla in the painted world and Priscilla died without naming her daughter; or Velka hid the painter in the painting and could never name her daughter, a very old knight, before the schism, GAEL, remained loyal to his lady (THE GREAT ONE / Velka) and his lineage to try to break the curse / sin of Gwyn

it's surprisingly rare for Fromsoft lore people (or "From Brains", as they've been called in Japan for decades by this point) in the west to actually look at the original Japanese text, so ones like you who do are a real treat
Thanks for the great comment. I'll continue to do my best to bridge the gap between the Jpn and Eng version of the lore using my FromBrain.
Thanks man! I also assume that it was either Caitha directly or her clerics/followers that got Lloyd removed.
Eredin of the Elden Ring lore through/Undead pilgrimage sent me. Keep up the good work.
Welcome to my channel and thanks for the great comment!
@@ChannelYoshimitsu Looking forward to your future videos.
To say that the giants are related to trees makes a lot of sense, as they’re oddly absent from the original intro.
Sullyvahn being literally related to trees in Ariamis’ world also makes sense. Both he and lloyd have positions of judge and archbishop.
And if you look at Elden Ring, with the faith being so closely to trees,
Or Demon’s Souls, where god is literally a tree.
Thanks for the encouraging comment. I'll continue to create more lore videos. :)
@@ChannelYoshimitsu there is a reason all the main lore channels watch you
You’ve gotta keep making videos. This is my single favorite lore video. It ties up things that were just out of grasp so conclusively and in a narratively satisfying way. eternally grateful to you for making this
this was very interesting, especially the bit about Caitha and Wolnir and their connection to death
Nito being a giant sort of makes sense but would that imply that Giants experience death in a different manner then the pygmies?

Thank you very much for another video, i was wondering, could you in the future do a video regarding ''the Deep''? these are so amazing and fill me with joy to experience the answers found in the lore.
Commenting to show support and also for the algorithm, you truly deserve more views.
Thanks for the support. :)
Praise the algorithm! Happy to have stumbled upon your channel
I also think Lloyd used to be apart of the Darkmoons before Velka and later Gwydolin. The great sword of judgement and Lloyds sword ring seemingly describe the same thing.
Very possible. The Darkmoon knights and Lloyds knights do have similarities.
This threw a wrench in all my theories and i love it. Subbed
truly one of the best souls lore videos on yt
Thanks for the great comment friend.
a long time ago I left a theory of mine about Velka being Caitha in your video about Velka. Hope you're well.

velka cannot be a daughter of chaos as her powers have a great influence on the gods - is considered to have a great range of influence even as gods are concerned. I've been looking forward to this
I completely agree with your analysis, as a long time Allfather Lloyd theorist and enthusiast, i love seeing people talk about him because i belive his influence is understated in the lore community.
The appearance of the souls seems to be in complete disregard of the number of souls you acquire from them (for example, there are human souls that drop more than the moonlight butterfly's soul)
So about Nito:
Nito's cloak resembles the form of humanity, he is also a giant like lloyd likely is (i agree with your analysis in this video).
Another awesome video , keep up the good work 👍🏼
Also Eredin says hi
Epic vid, been back to watch it a few times. Hope you keep these up & would love to see some for Elden ring.
Thanks friend! I'll strive to create more lore content.
Alright i watched all your vids in one go and im really stoked :D 10/10 stuff
Really liking this more serious style as opposed to the shallow vaati sobstories or why everyone is velka videos.
For this reason may i ask, was the first or previous king of lothric the Nameless king? (had to be the king of something)
And are his followers at lothric who rode dragons(wyverns) rode their own friends who turned to imperfect dragons at archdragon peak?
Also things i noticed but cant put my finger on them:
The Ghrus start to turn look like the Stormdrake, the Elder Ghrus start to turn into DS1 Everlasting dragon(the fluffy in the nest), the pus of men have wyverns bits, even those dead demon clerics have fleshy bits growing that Oceiros has.
These same almost dragons have horns like the ringed knight weapons have
Eredin recommended you, he asked to call him uncle but I'm old enough to be his mother ⛩️🎋
It's INSANE how much detail is found in the kanji. It's like a whole world to explore in itself. Kind of jealous of Japanese speakers
Hang on a second... Was this Miyazaki's devious plan to get everyone to learn Japanese?
Unironically I wonder if there was an idea to get people to cooperate from different nations, especially with how much varied human history/mythology goes into these games
I love this theory. Miyazaki wants everyone to have whats called the Frombrain(what fromsoftware lore researchers are called over in Japan).
Incredible! Love your lore videos, please keep it up.
thank you for this service
It's my pleasure friend.
Amazing video. Pls keep doing this masterpiece
It makes sense considering the gray giants were around during the age of ancients, and by proxy gwyn, his parents, and his uncles.
Any findings on the Throne Watcher and Defender? I think they represent the Dark Moon and the Way of White. Who is in charge of the Way of White in Dark Souls 2, would that make Drangleic and the Throne of want a testing ground?
The Throne Watcher and Defender, I'm not 100% sure on. Although I do agree with you that they are connected with the Way of White somehow.
I love that title. So evocative! I had to click as soon as I saw it haha
Great, now I feel disappointed that the game says Thorolund instead of Sol Londo.
Wow so early well thanks for the vid :)
You're very welcome. :)
I guess the translators used the term "deriative fraud" to indicate that Lloyd calling himself the "Allfather" is fraudulent due to him not being Gwyn's father or any kind of direct relation to him.
Cool video! I'm a big fan of your theory
I heard the explanation of character sizes was mostly due to represent power...although giants due exist but as a particular race of beings
6:45 Awesome catch.
Also used by Anri and the DS3 Firekeeper.
Caitha to me makes more sense as nitos bethrothed, but i have no grounds for this. so please correct me
Still Im not completely convinced on the drangleic giants being a "hollow" version of the type that yhorm is.
I'm still looking into piecing it together, but I'm pretty convinced Caitha is a daughter of Nito and is a niece to Lloyd.
"sol londo" holy fucking SHIT you are a genius

Interesting that Wolnir wanted to be Last of the Dead and worked with Black Flame.
A *sign* "that *signifies* an accursed Undead."
Brand is also synonymous with Logo, short for Logotype, meaning Wordmark.
Sorry for going on such a tangent again, basically I think the main 3 themes are; pessimism, perennialism and postmodernism.
definitely plausible, also love the alternate translation of Thorolund, makes too much sense
Glad you like the alternate translation of Thorolund as Sol Londo.
Hey i got a question is Londor mentioned in DS3 a Ruins of New Londo from DS1?
I don't think Londor is the ruins of New Londo. I'm of the theory that many residents from Londo ended up in New Londo and thats why so many things overlap between the two countries.
Considering the link between trees and giants - what do you make of the Curse-Rotted Greatwood?
IMO it's a callback to the Witchtrees of Lindelt (hence the nearby Mirrah set and Hodrick's Sunset set).
Sulyvahn's been running the shop for a while in DS3, and he's a fella from a Lindelt Painting (the Shaded Woods were just a sketch in DS2, before they recreated the Painted World).
I assume the Curse-Rotted Greatwood is of the same race as Yhorm and the Giants of Drangleic. Just in a very cursed and messed up state.
Interesting. I'm curious of this theory that Sulyvahn is from a Lindelt Painting.
@@ChannelYoshimitsu
(Sorry for the long post, pal, I got a bit carried away - note that I presume Mirrah is the capital of Lindelt, and Shulva is the capital of Leydia, and I don't have the full picture I'm just theorycrafting)
Yeah, the Lindelt Monastery liked to LARP as Painting Guardians.
I believe the Dragon Charms carried by the Drakekeepers, Desert Sorceresses and Amana Priestesses are perfect Lindelt recreations that are indistinguishable from the real Leydia Dragon Charms carried by the Sanctum Priestesses and Gyrm (Doors of Pharros treasure) [Note: The sorceresses also carry recreated Lingering Dragoncrest Rings (+1)]
Aldia's "ancient" dragon is also a recreation, possibly of the Ash Lake dragon (itself a recreation), and the Black Dragon weapons are offshoot recreations of Kalameet's tail weapon (Obsidian Greatsword).
I also think Straid is an agent of Lindelt, seeing how he's the only source of Lindelt's Unveil miracle, also the nearby Ruptured Hollows (also found in Dragon Aerie, Grave of Saints and the Gutter) aren't hostile to him - which I find sus.
Basically, I reckon Lindelt are a kind of Illuminati/Templar faction responsible for preserving history and tradition
