    Most of my prospecting is working the dry over burden, classifying through a #8 mesh before processing. Digging up the layer below to soak over night and then processing.

      Come to think of it I don't think I've done a video of that just in the channel. I'm currently trying to understand a big inside bend. Its not going well. The gold is hiding. Which is really frustrating because if I go to the straight channel I can go straight to the lead and get a reasonable result.

    I located an old flood bed today with some huge water weathered boulders.

    I see you finally used that classifier for once so good going for that mate !!! We here in Virginia USA and perhaps all across America call your pugs our hardpack gravel bar layer material on top of the actual bedrock itself will hold quite a bit of small gold !!! I'll be doing a small video soon of me working some of that same material but using a DeWalt wet/dry vac so I won't be missing any gold that I couldn't get up with a spoon or scoop !!!! a hole was dug near here and a big rock was found. the hole was metal detected with not much found. then two guys metal detected the boulder...first guy found 4 nuggets of good size and the second found about 11. all the nuggets were "concreted" onto the boulder and they had to chip off the boulder to get the gold. i'm guessing that is what you call "pug".
    another guy dug up an extremely old quartz boulder with small holes in it. he took it home and laid it on a sheet of plastic. when it dried out the gold fell onto the plastic and we processed it. we probably didn't get all the gold since we didn't chip off anything or test it with the metal detector.

    I think I might have missed a video. Have you sampled the over burden? I'm getting less gold in the overburden but reward for effort it seems to be about the same. The loose overburden doesn't have a lot of gold but its REALLY easy digging and classifying whereas the Mallow (same as pug) is damm hard to dig and process because its so concreted.

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому +1

      nm copwatch sort of but no. Hard pack differed in that its made of cobble as pug is primarily made of compacted dirt and decaying bedrock.

  • @JohnClark1984
    @JohnClark1984 6 років тому +1

    did you weigh it up in the end? would be nice to know what that was given you basically ran a 1/10th of a yard to compare to the boys on tv

    • @VoGusProspecting
      @VoGusProspecting  6 років тому

      John Clark I can give you a run down of that.
      Gold rush works off $10-15 a yard or around 0.2-0.3g a yard of dirt.
      Best ground I've been on was 6g or $300 a yard and average is around 0.5g or $25 a yard.
      We got roughly 0.1-0.15 out of that hole. But this location was chosen because of the close proximity of the bedrock. Ideally you want to be on an inside bend or the like.
