Fern, my white Boxer dog, is an accredited service dog under the 1992 DD act. She holds special access rights to be allowed to enter places most dogs cannot. This includes National Parks such as Chiltern Mt Piolet NP where Reedy Creek is located. Unless your dog is an accredited service animal they are not allowed to enter NP.

I have watched A LOT (200-300 hours +) of the other main prospectors on UA-cam, a fair bit of all the Aussies (you are the best IMO) and this is the first time I have seen a decent "how to bookwork" video, which is both strange(because all work starts in a book or as an idea) and amazing (because you are the first and best explained, and Aussie, so it means something to me.)
One thing I would add, geological survey bulletins are nice too if you can find them, some decent info can be buried as a "by the way.." sentence in a paragraph of 20+ pages.. another kind of mining almost.. hmm..
Wow Chris that was an awesome in depth lesson on how to do your research first rather than go blindly like I have done for the past year..
Im going to take your advice, use those websites, and really pinpoint them hotspots.
Understanding where your going to the best of your ability before you go out is definitely where its going to pay off.

Chris, I took the information you gave us in this video and applied it to the State of New Mexico in the
USA. WOW!!!! by using your specific info search patterns you use, I was able to apply to my situation and location and SHAZAMM! I found all of the data bases from government and private organizations that gave me more information than I can possibly digest in a life time. AWESOME dude!!!! in particular I found a USGS (geological survey) interactive map that is the best I have seen online. I am really fired up now!!! Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
When I was 16 I went to the Lincoln National Forest and found some gold specks just smashing rocks with hammers. I went back when I was 30 with some pans and proper equipment and found some dust going up one of the streams. We didn't have enough time to locate the source. We plan on going back soon.

Best most informative video you have made Chris. As an avid prospector myself I can see from your videos that you are growing more and more. Hopefully maybe one day you can cruise on up to the Gold Coast and I'll show you a Gully I've been working (I won't say where haha) I'm still trying to find the source as my research tells me it was never found. Crevicing is also my favourite way to prospect. Anyways cheers for another radical 20mins man. Love it.

This Gully is extremely wide and very very long. The slopes are so steep in parts you are literally on your hands and knees to climb it.
I'm still slowly working my way up from the bottom of the Gully sampling and crevicing as I go until I find a stronger concentration of gold in a small spot Then I will check the toes and side tributaries the feed this Gully. It's going to take me a very very long time. The ground is treacherous.

Google maps are also good, I know that gold was found in my local area (not massive but enough for 3 mini-rush's). So while I was looking, I noticed a creek flows right through an open rock quarry. So going to go have a look at the creek as it leaves the quarry area. Just in case something has been freed lol
Definitely, look for the first tight section of creek below the quarry. That's where it'll show up.
Comes under the road, and hits a rocky base after that.
There was some, but very very fine, and not really worth trying I don't think.
Now looking at finding somewhere near Noojee, as Warrandyte was a bust.

a really really excellent topic. i've watched this video several times before.
it would be really great if you would do something similar again. in more detail, about the online research side of things, looking in depth at each source eg earth resources, geovic, geological maps, trove. you said you were still learning back then, so maybe now teaching us how to put the information from different sources, like geovic, on different maps, like google. i'd really like to know how to capture the mapping information from one source and add it to another. these things would make a great video[s].
maybe you could use some examples of locations from your past that you have effectively finished with and teach us the process[es] you used to find that location[s], from the online researching side of things through trove etc and maps etc, and additionally follow up with the location itself, out in the field.
i rarely get out prospecting, but enjoy spending a little time once in a while looking things up online, finding locations that are close enough that i might actually go and have a look one day, but it would be nice to learn how you actually find the locations that aren't already marked with a giant "x" and mine or reef name in geovic.
another really really great thing to learn tips and tricks about would be about how to know if you can or can't prospect a location, from map information, like is it private or public, and if it's public is prospecting allowed. with so much public land locked up from prospecting, it would be a particularly interesting topic to learn about.
you obviously put a lot of time and effort, and plenty of money too, into your research, but it would be great to learn, especially the specifics, with actual examples where possible, from someone that has mastered it.
the recent gift of a new laptop and an upgraded internet service has reinvigorated my interest in the online research side of things.
