    It looks great, but I think the 4K just makes the 2009 CGI look a tad more "artificial", a little bit more "video game cutscene" than I remember. Nitpicks though.

    Oh my god it's beautiful, I feel like I rediscovered this film when I saw it when it was released in theaters and I can already say that at that time it was quite impressive because James Cameron is a perfectionist man but that's another level and I think it's certainly one of the best transfers of 2023 that I see and I find that the sequel is much less impressive than the first part. Again you made my day Moon.

    Not only does the remaster look so much better (some minor issues with oversharpening artefacts, but I'm nitpicking), but it also sounds so much better.
    The new Atmos track is one of the very few movies that actually makes full use of the platform, as in - they make actual use of object based metadata mixing. It isn't just another lazy matrixing of surround effects onto the heights like 90% of the so called "Atmos" movies on the market.

    • @Mymoonization
      @Mymoonization  7 місяців тому +1

      Dear Alex
      « Avatar’s live action elements were captured digitally in HDCAM SR format (at 1080p/24 resolution) by cinematographer Mauro Fiore and his team using PACE Fusion 3D and Sony CineAlta F23, HDC-1500, and HDC-F950 cameras, with Canon and Fujinon lenses. Additional performance imagery was captured using a virtual camera and volume, supplemented by a Simul-Cam process that combined the live-action, performance capture, and rough anamatic imagery all at once, allowing Cameron and Fiore to “shoot” the film the same way a documentarian might. All of this was then enhanced and supplemented by extensive computer-generated visuals to produce the final result, a 2K Digital Intermediate master framed in a variety of aspect ratios (including 1.78:1 for IMAX, 1.85:1 for 3D, and 2.39:1 for wide-release theatrical exhibition).
      For its first appearance on Ultra HD, the 162-minute theatrical cut of Avatar only has been AI-upsampled from the original master files to create a new 4K Digital Intermediate, complete with grading for high dynamic range (HDR10 is the only option on this disc, and the lack of Dolby Vision on a title this significant is unfortunate). It should be noted that this release does not include the 170-minute Special Edition version or the 178-minute Collector’s Extended Cut, nor is the Blu-ray 3D version of the theatrical cut included. (These, I’m told, were decisions made by Lightstorm, and it remains very possible that the longer versions could be released in 4K at a later date.) As was the case with the original Blu-ray release, the film is framed here at the 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The Avatar theatrical cut does, however, now include a new line of dialogue at the end of the film from Parker Selfridge to Jake Sully: “You know this isn’t over, right?” The 20th Century Studios logo also replaces the original Fox logo. (These changes were added for the recent 4K theatrical re-release earlier this year.) »
      Cheers !

    Glattgebügelt bis zum Schluss 😂Da der Film im Original zu der Zeit auch nur Digital 1080p gefilmt wurde , wurde für die 4k Version mit Hochrechnung und ( wie ich finde ) zu scharfen Filter gearbeitet 😢.Teilweise hast du minimales flimmern .Einige Konturen sind völlig überzeichnet ! Und der Teilweise plastische Look den auch schon das Original hatte tritt hier nochmal extrem hervor , was stellenweise schon nach Zeicheintrick ausschaut ...Auch hat sich wieder dieser Grünstich eingeschlichen, der Immer wieder zu beobachten ist bei neueren 4K Versionen .Alles in allem für mich durchwachsen...🎉Sehe jetzt keinen Grund die Blu ray zu ersetzen ...

    • @Mymoonization
      @Mymoonization  10 місяців тому +1

      Dear Duckstein
      „Für den ersten Auftritt auf Ultra HD wurde die 162-minütige Kinofassung von „Avatar only“ aus den Original-Masterdateien einem KI-Upsampling unterzogen, um ein neues 4K Digital Intermediate zu erstellen, komplett mit Grading für einen hohen Dynamikbereich (HDR10 ist die einzige Option). (diese Disc und das Fehlen von Dolby Vision bei einem so bedeutenden Titel sind bedauerlich). Es ist zu beachten, dass diese Veröffentlichung weder die 170-minütige Special Edition-Version noch den 178-minütigen Collector’s Extended Cut enthält, noch ist die Blu-ray 3D-Version der Kinofassung enthalten. (Mir wurde gesagt, dass dies Entscheidungen von Lightstorm waren, und es bleibt sehr gut möglich, dass die längeren Versionen zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt in 4K veröffentlicht werden könnten.) Wie bei der ursprünglichen Blu-ray-Veröffentlichung ist der Film gerahmt hier im Seitenverhältnis 1,78:1. Allerdings enthält die Kinofassung von „Avatar“ am Ende des Films nun eine neue Dialogzeile von Parker Selfridge bis Jake Sully: „Du weißt, dass das noch nicht vorbei ist, oder?“ Das 20th Century Studios-Logo ersetzt auch das ursprüngliche Fox-Logo. (Diese Änderungen wurden für die jüngste 4K-Kino-Neuveröffentlichung Anfang dieses Jahres hinzugefügt.) »
      Cheers !

      @@Mymoonization Ja das ist mir bewusst! Aber in meinen Augen wurde es übertrieben mit dem Entcoding ...Mann wollte wohl krampfhaft das letzte rausholen 🤔...Viele Wachsfiguren Gesichter und Doppelkonturen .Zum Beispiel massive Treppenkanten auf dem ohnehin schon wachsartigem Gesicht von Sigourney Weaver bei Minute 51:24... ! Selbst in der Bewegung erkennt man vertikale Streifenbildung an der Nase .Und was die Überzeichnung angeht bitte mal die Details bei Worthingstons Gesicht bei 127:32 anschauen .Das ist so mit das schlimmste an Überschärfung was ich seit langem gesehen habe .Wie gesagt , ich muss für mich einfach feststellen das man es hier mal wieder übertrieben hat ( oder es zu gut gemeint hat ) je nach Geschmack. 🫠Ich finde die 4k nicht gelungen...Aber das ist nur meine persönliche Meinung .

    Definitely grabbing the 4k. The bluray was already quite good but alot of scenes still felt plastic, like the mining machine, always looked like a cartoon but the 4k gives it definition and detail. Lowering the contrast was always an iffy choice to me, i like the vibrant colors on big screens, but , the trade off is clarity and detail, well worth it id say. And i think the guy who was saying the uhd is trash for this movie i think he just never saw it on a true 4k screen. Its pretty undeniable it looks great.
