Two apps helped me more than turning my phone to greyscale: 1) Digital detox: You can completely block your phone. You can also allow a few most important apps to be used. Also you can't open your phone without paying with real money. I usually use it on weekends 2) Screen zen: You can set a timer before apps open. You can also control for how long the app opens at a time. This one is best to use on the days you are working (and don't want a complete detox)
Other things are definitely too extreme but how does reading murakami and camu change you? How are you finding any morality in their works? and The most murakami will do is leave you entertained and maybe inspire in you a love for books( in his books, most people who read are written like anime protagonists- they were born with something unfair, or they are fighting against something like a champ, while exploring their freedoms)… Ps - for whatever reason, murakami thinks that rash driving is cool and that it symbolises freedom…it’s just a Japanese and their love for punk culture thing…don’t get inspired by it.
idk, to each their own. For me both those authors changed my life. Murkami did what you said for me, it inspired me a lot to keep reading and reading books has probably been the thing that's changed my life the most but also I think his books are deeply philosophical and teach you a lot about presence and the joy that can be found in simplicity. Likewise camus is deeply philosophical and acts as an antidote to nihilism and the lack of purpose a lot of people including myself feel. Sure, there are bad parts to both authors and they promote some things that are wrong but then so do most books, even those we consider as bases for moral systems.
@@TomHurls o I get it now…what you’re trying to say is that literature provided you with a sense of connection- an escape from the blankness of life…in that case for moralistic stuff , might I suggest midnights children( by Salman Rushdie) and Veronica decides to die ( by Paula coelho)…also if possible, try learning Japanese and or French and then reading murakami or camus’s work ( in their original language)…nobody really does that( I certainly don’t) , but there is a famous poet from my homeland -Rabindranath tagore( you can read his stufff too…they are great) and it’s from his works that I came to know how much can be lost in transalation…It’s so severe, that while the international community will tell you to study tagore’s work in English, I would say to read it in bengali( my mother toungue) or don’t read them at all….things are most likely just as bad for Camus and murakami….so do try and learn their languages first.
@@TomHurls thanks for ur content bro. unlike most of the creators who overly focus on creating creative shots u put emphasize on the message u want to get through and have a meaningful idea in the first place thats what I liked about ur channel.
I stumbled upon this video and I have to say this: learn to exercise moderation, even with self-improvement. Everything said in this video is right, of course, but what I am seeing on YT is that everyone tries to push the same things like this is a military regime. Relax. You don't have to fit all these things into your life all at once. Start slow, build up until you are comfortable with YOUR kind of routine. Don't live like a monk just to follow the herd of self improvement junkies. Sorry, I had to say it.
