To me, the mains avantages of this tablet over an Ipad is :
-the price (Spen Stylus is included with the tablet)
-the spen does not need to be recharged
-This tablet has the fast charge capability
-amoled display
-microSD card port
-a more open device : like every android devices, you can connect the S4 tablet to a computer and transfer every type of file from the tablet to the computer, or from the computer to the tablet, with no restriction. Music, images, pdf, and so on....
+ Price (much cheaper... I rock a iPad Pro 12.9 2018)
+ spend doesn’t need a charge (I didn’t know that)
? I’m unsure how the support and updates to the software will be 2 years down the line. I think I’ll be supported on the iPad Pro for the next 5-7 years.
? My eyes aren’t the best so I don’t care too much about the amoled display
Cons - software support, in term of os support and app support. Samsung doesn’t has as good app as ipad.
Tbh, if there are anything as good as GoodNotes on android i would sell my ipad and buy tab s4 instead.

For you folks who think you are saving money by getting the older versions of tablets:planned obsolescence will prevent further upgrades at some point while apps continue their upgrades. In other words, you will be replacing more often. This is true of most things. My mother-in-law taught me something that has served me well all my life; here it is: "buy the very best you can possibly afford and you will always be happy with your purchase and avoid buying the same product over and over."
No, I don't work for this company, in fact, following my own advice, I own an ipad🙊 , just saying. However, don't skimp unless you like to trade up every time a new tablet comes out. Buy the best and enjoy!
i still think buy a second hand and trust me u do not need the flagship for most of the time. if u need buy two years ago's flagship and u will see at least 60% price drop
Well, apple has finish dates too. They do not support past 3 to 4 years! Yes u can keep stuff going, but they like u to keep buying about every 2 years. 3 at the most! Or so I have found.
i am using Samsung Tab A6 since 2016 till now, then switching from iphone SE to the marvelous Samsung Note 8 in 2018. Several months later get the iPad 9.9 inch 2018 version (not the pro one). Now.... 2019, planning to get this one. Lol. Android is better in doing business rather than iOS.That's my opinion, end of discussion.

Watch this on my Tab S4. I have been very please with the device so far. Had a iPad pro 9.7 and was glad to get back to Android. Dex is a great feature. I love that I can have multiple Word, Excel, Google Docs, or Google Sheets open at one time. I could not do this on my iPad. I could only have one window and the split screen on the iPad was cumbersome for me to use. I also have the keyboard and love it but I do agree with you that a back light on the keys would have been a nice feature.

I have the Samsung tablet S3 I use a lot of video like UA-cam for video and audio and Netflix I found the speakers quality isn’t that great for music and video, is the tablet S4 a big improvement for audio to the S3 and visual or should I wait till an S5 comes out.
Great review. However, I think for it’s price, they could have kept better processor. I think upcoming iPad would be a much better choice. Having said that, I still agree with you that this is probably the best Android tablet on the market.

For some, it might replace desktop/laptop. But there are many functions it still can't replace, particularly for those who work in creative fields. Android still has no any professional modelling or graphic design software.
if you are a student that uses digital books, takes notes digitally and watches netflix/youtube on his free time then it's a really good buy,especially on amazon where you can get it for 550 euros

Soo, basicly its note with bigger screen? Im looking for a tablet that going well with my productivity. Im an interior project manager so my everyday apps are sketchup, autocad, light photoshopping and excel. Also taking note quite often, usually taking photo + quick sketch. Is this new S4 can support me? Already watching a tons of surface pro 6 videos, but the only problem is, surface pro didnt come to my country where i live, and if i buy it online from another country it will cost me more with no store to claim the warranty. Any suggestion? Really appreciate your help guys! Thankyou 😊
Great review! I think the decision to buy a Tab S4 really depends on how one will use their tablet. If most often they will be using it for media consumption, then I believe this is the best device. It is good that it has a productivity function, which is great for back up. I say this because one cannot deny that a tablet cannot replace the laptop for heavy productivity. For those using tablets for drawing productivity then the iPad pro is the best solution, but one cannot deny that the ipad falls short a bit when consuming media due to screen quality and ratio for media consumption. To summarize my opinion, I think if 70% to 80% of the time using your tablet is for media consumption, then this is the tablet to buy. Pricewise, it might be tall but it does include an S-pen where for others it is an extra cost, plus is the user expandable memory on the fly.

Thanks for the review, it made up my mind for me. I dropped and damaged my note pro 12.2 and cant find another new one. Only wished samsung had another 12" tab at a comparable price.
Thanks for including Surface Pro in the review. I was hoping someone would do exactly that. Tablets with keyboards obviously tries to steal laptop market shares but since the Surface books have the tablet and laptop properties in one already I don't really see why I should get a separate tablet anymore. I think its easier to make a PC/tablet hybrid than the opposite. And with Windows you are very compatible all over.
Anyone know if this will pair up like an ipad does with an iPhone? Meaning like text messages, calls, etc. I have a note9 but need an upgraded tablet.

I'm an android user and I've got an ipad pro and a tab s2. Here are the things I miss on my older android tab: expandable memory, easy file transfer, torrent, amoled display. Speed wise, I know the ipad pro is lightyears ahead of Samsung tabs but I don't really feel any lag since I don't game with the highest settings / do too much work on my tablet. Work belongs on a laptop, period.

I am a systems engineer and as such I take a step back and want to how it integrates into the Samsung total family. In other words how does the blue tooth interface to replicate the screen on my Samsung 65 inch HDMI TV. If I am lounging around in my underwear in my house and not carrying my cell phone, does the table pair with my Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus to allow me to receive and initiate calls. Does it even have a SIM slot for GSM and/or can it work in tandem with my S8. How about serving as an access point? What about interfacing with my network and uploading/downloading files from my server or using software over the internet to interface with cloud storage? When one looks at products at this price point, one is entitle to raise their expectations to the next level.

At half the price, it might make it home with me. Emphasis on might. I still would prefer better battery life, closer to the iPad pro. I would never use Dex either, so I think I will be keeping my Tab 3 for at least another year. Thanks again for a "real" review!

Hi Andrew, I really like your videos. Love the way you do your reviews. Straight to the point, i like that. I just want to point out one thing though, the reason manufacturers put back camera in tablet, and the reason why I seriously recommend them to do it, is because of the skype or google duo or any kind of social media applications.
I use that a lot and if I want to show someone the view I am looking at, front camera only wouldn’t cut it. It will be very uncomfortable to hold the front camera to show the view i am looking at.
That’s the reason, it is very important for people like me, to have back camera. Plus you can also view whether the view is in the frame or not.
So, i think the rear camera is not meant for taking photos with it, but for video conferencing and calling reason. I mean, you can still take photos with it, but you are right, it’s very uncomfortable.

The price has come down and I am definitely considering it as I have always wanted a tablet. The curve on my Note 9 display makes it a bit tricky to edit sometimes so the flat display will be better overall.

Hello Andrew, as always an excellent video. I have an S4 tab and the points to improve would be the following: 1. The processor when it demands a bit in Dex mode, I know a little short. 2. The Dex system itself, I agree with you that it has a lot to improve. 3. A keyboard with touchpad would have been grateful.

I have the S4 and Samsung keyboard case and love, love, love it. As a pairing they are versatile and easy to use. The only ⬇️side is the pen falls out too easily but I got out my hot glue gun and put a dot on the side of the pen, spread it into a line and once totally dry it holds it in place really well. I also attached a small book light to the side so there is no problem with seeing the keyboard in the dark or you can use the pop-up screen keboard.
Let's see if the price goes down in black Friday, I will buy it if it does. I can't wait I'm excited. I can watch Netflix hulu esetera on a big display.

Compare to Galaxy tablet A with s pen? That's what I have to replace because of damage (crack) though it still works.

Great review as always. One observation when demonstrating the webcam, don't shoot it with the bright window behind you as it overpowers the light and makes the whole thing look pretty milky. A minor gripe as all your videos are top notch. Keep it up.
