Are you going to review the Mediapad M5 Pro?
I'll see if I can get a review unit
I need to ask something.
Can you go to "developer options" or Display" in the settings and look if you can change the size and scale or DPI of the interface? This should make the interface elements smaller, giving you more space to draw.
Thank you for making this video and for showing us drawing programs for android. I haven't got Tab S4 or Tab S3, but l like to draw, and l have Tab E 9.6 and l can just buy that pen in any tech store.
Thanks again!
Hy what camera you use to record this 😊?
This is by far the best review i've seen on youtube, and I'm not talking only about the tablet... keep it up man, greetings from Spain!
His reviews are always the best! I don't even need to buy this device but I'm still watching because this is entertaining!
Bis wa!?! Samsung COMES with the pen!?! WATCH N LEARN APPLEEEE
Sea Creature your words are sooooooooooooooo true
Ikrrrrr!
The fact that it also comes with replacement nibs, even apple wont provide them when we purchase the hecking expensive apple pen SEPARATELY with the tablet. Jeez apple sure knows how to make people's wallet cry.
YEA BIS WTF APPLE WATCH SAMSUNG WIN HAHAHAHA
I know this video was made almost two years ago, but I still wanted to say thank you, because I was struggling to choose an android tablet for drawing for myself - it's a bit of money to spend and I was scared that if I will already purchase one and start using it, it may not meet my needs and expectations. Your videos helped me a lot today and now, after this one, I am sure I want to get this Samsung! It seems perfect for my needs! Thank you so very much for this very clear and very detailed review!
Heyo!! I’m also thinking of purchasing this tablet. May I ask, how it has been like for you?
People should know that this is not just a Fortnite gaming device, but also use for digital art, and animations!
@@rakhoo5236 oh really? I tried it, its kinda fun u know :D
@@chriskjelgaard968 may i know what app to make an animation in that samsung tab?
@@rrapppi flip a clip
i like it when they can do both :D
Who cares anyway, fortnite is trash
The best review that can be found on UA-cam. You covered all issues that can affect an artist using the tab and showing us how each Android drawing app works on the tab is excellent. Thanks a lot sir.
Great great review - been waiting for an artists review specifically. Thanks!
Thank you very much for the thorough review. Excellent video.
I found this review one year later but it sure is helpful since I'm considering to buy this model , thank you so much friend.
Im using one if you have questions i can help
@@unclestanchannel7493 are you using the s3 or s4? I'm also considering getting a tablet but don't know which of the two
@@denime2727 I know this comment is 5 months old, but it heavily depends on what your priorities are
Tab s3 drawing experience is going to be just as good as the s4 and comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio that might be more appealing to you
Tab s4 is a multimedia beast with the more traditional aspect ratio, great speakers and enough power to emulate even some GameCube games... On top of having the same great drawing experience of the s3. Oh and Samsung Dex mode, if that's important to you
So it depends on how important the aspect ratio, price and power features are to you. If you just want an affordable Android drawing tablet, I don't think the s3 is a bad pick at all(possibly the best price to drawing ability ratio). I eventually upgraded to the S4, but it had nothing to do with dissatisfaction of the drawing experience of the s3... Only the other features that tickle my consumer interests rather than my creative ones
Hey, did you finally but it? If so, how's the drawing experience like?
get it bro, this model is even better than s6 lite!
by the way the "flicker" of the tablet is because the freq. of the mains, screen output and the video input sampling rates are a multiple of each other, like an old light bulb lighting a running metal lathe part, it LOOKS still, even though it's RUNNING!, 'cause the frequency of motion and the lights freq (white balance) are exactly the same, so no motion is recorded or seen.
Great review, I went for the Tab s4 over IPad so I could have an Amoled screen for reading comics. If you want an Oled screen for your digital comic collection, the Tab s3/s4 are your only options. The new size of the s4 really makes digital comic reading even better.
Pojosamaneo Totally agree. And as someone who had an s3 and went ahead and got an s4; you’re making the right call. Other than the bigger screen ratio, you are not missing anything. Actually, when my buddy and I put them side by side for comic reading comparison, the s3 had richer colors. Totally agree with the review that the price on this tablet should be $550. If my wife didn’t want the s3 so bad for when she travels for work, I would’ve held off too. That said, I do love the new one’s improvements and am glad to have it. Especially for comics.
Konoha Hokage qqqqqq
Thanks for this. A drunk broke my first generation Galaxy Tab S, which I dearly loved, and I was looking to upgrade. Glad to hear the S3 is most of what the S4 is. How's the battery life?
Peter Evans it’s really good! I haven’t had much issues with battery life on either model
Gary deBrown can u get me the galaxy skin please
Excellent review! Thanks for taking the time to make such an in-depth review.
Two years later and very impress with this video and it help so much. Thank you for covering everything
Great review, I appreciate you showing examples of different apps you can use to draw. Thank you!
Excellent review!! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see the comparison video.
Im currently looking for a tablet that i can use for art school and this is by far the best review. The videolenght makes it even better i think when it comes to reviews the video can be as long as its needed. Also how you sorted everything in the description. Thank you man, keep it up
really helpful!a great review 👍🏻👍🏻 greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷♥️
Thank you very much! I was looking to get one of these, but i wanted it for the drawing. None of the reviews had the drawing side, so this helped plenty. 💕
Thank you for doing ARTIST reviews on these tablets always. As an artist I prefer your reviews over all the other ones out there. Keep it up! Subscribed!
Thanks :-)
AT LEAST you get a Free pen
That's true
Ikr hahaha
Yep
Great review! Thank you so much for this!
Great detailed review and I appreciated the drawing app performance comparison.
Thanks for this review, it helped me decide on which sort of tablet I should buy! Very helpful indeed!
I have been using the Galaxy S4 since September 2018 for college classes. I only use Squid. I love how you make it look so easy to write and draw with the Pen. My work is always super messy.
Excellent review. Thank you, Teoh!
Welcome \ (•◡•) /
Love your reviews man. Subbed
Cant wait for the compare between the ipad pro and this. Great review!
Just get the ipad
This device is not for drawing and the cpu is same as last year so it will lose in cpu against 2016 ipad pro 9.7
@Jeewantha Dulanjana people, such as myself, who can't afford iPads may want a comparison. You come off as a real jerk in your comment.
The Vocalord the cheapest ipad is about 300€ and it beats pretty much every other tablet not ipads pros tho. And the pencil is best for drawing compared to any other pencil to tablets (androids have buttons etcetc) but if you just wanna natural feeling and fast not delayed lines then the pencil is srsly best what there is.
@@MultiDICKSTER yea I just kinda enjoy watching these reviews for entertainment mostly. I'm actually going to be getting an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil before the end of the month, hopefully.
fuck off tho
Great review as always Teoh
I have subscribed. I liked how you tackled my problem on this. Thanks
VERY HELPFUL REVIEW!!! thanks man
Actually, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2" tablet, and also use MediBang. From what you've done in this video,I believe that you'd have been better off to buy a tablet like mine. My tablet is still incredibly capable, and a nicely cared for unit, depending on whether you need the LTE capabilities or not, can be had for between $200 (SM-P600), and $300 (SM-P905 or SM-P907).
Excellent review. I bought one because I wanted a tablet I could draw/paint with, and also write freehand on. The inclusion of the S-Pen sold it for me.
Buying it was by far the best purchasing decision I've ever made. I draw and paint every day on Artrage. That helps my mental health something stupid. When I'm wanting to do some writing, bang!, I write. I skype, I zoom, I email I watch vids like this. It has met every expectation.
I'm sure I'd be as effusive if I'd bought an iPad pro, but for the money? Brilliant. It's really helped me.
What about the updates? I don't really care about major updates but I do care about security patches... I don't know if I should get this one or the s6 LITE because of this
@@OriDMT There are quarterly security patches, one very recent one, but only in certain regions I think. I'm in the UK and received the last one. The patch notes should be on Samsung's site. Not sure why they're not global. Local laws re. privacy, data retention, that sort of thing I would assume.
where did you buy yours? I would love to buy one I just don't know where to look.
@@mariejimenez233 I got mine from Curry's. You'll probably get a better deal online though
Excellent review. 👍 I always suggest your channel when I see people asking about digital or traditional artist tools and mediums. 😄
Thanks 😁
Great review. :) Very helpful information, thank you.
Thanks :-)
Excellent review. Thank you.
Excellent review. Very in-depth. Thank you.
Welcome 😁
Thank you for making this great review about the S4. I've been thinking whether to get iPad PRO or Samsung tab and I was totally decided to get the iPad PRO at first but it's wayyy too expensive for an art student like me :( (+ I hate that the Apple pencil is sold separately and is also very expensive!) Now I am sure to buy the tablet instead if you say that it's great enough :)))
This is a very thorough review! I can appreciate this. Although I have the iPad Pro this was still nice to watch
Thanks :-)
nice, informative review. adobe draw had much stroke smoothing i think, which introduces lag in any app, when enabled.
Thank you SO MUCH for reviewing this tablet,i am gonna start a digital animation and drawing but i don't know which Android tablet i wanna buy,but again thank you for reviewing this :)
I have always been an Apple user, when it comes to tablets. But this has changed my mind. Great review btw, probably going to get it soon!
Great review!
I don't know if it is beacause your reviews are art related, but I find them the most useful and complete in all the details I am waiting to hear from reviews! Now I am struggling between Tab s4 or Tab s6
Me as well!
@@pinkishlyshy__8191 get the s4 If you want a head phone jack s6 and s4 are the same.
Great tablet for basically everything. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxLNmVocUk8tnSkwWIlYSNFzWRIaFTBuzS I bought it specifically for art, and that 4k screen is really fantastic for it! Also has LOUD audio, even tho the speakers aren't in necessarily prime locations it really projects! You do need to get a case for this bad boy IMMEDIATLY though as it doesn't come with one.Battery life is really good! Standby time us FANTASTIC. This guy can go about a week on standby and be just fine. The screen is massive so the longer you have the screen on, brightness especially, it will effect battery life. I am very happy with it though! One thing that I didn't consider is that since the screen resolution is so high, viewing ticktocks/ reading webtoons can be slightly blurry. There is no way to turn down resolution either, so it just be like that.Would still judge this bad boi at 10/10 for my first tablet. I've had it 3 months now and its not shown any evidence of "slowing down" or anything. Love it!
Thanks for this video. It was very educative
First off, I LoVVVVed your in depth video! I've never quite seen anyone give a demonstration from "an artist's point of view" (so to speak) & I was blown away! So awesome!
Secondly, I bought the Samsung Galaxy s4 when it first came out & was never disappointed! (I even bought the "Samsung case" for it that came with the wireless blue tooth keyboard however I've never been able to figure out how to connect & use the keyboard all this time!)
Then when the Samsung Galaxy S6 came out I bought that one as well, but I find I rarely use it only for the fact that I can't stand the case! It's one of those "generic" cases with a wireless blue tooth keyboard.
I also can't get that one connected either 🤔 (I know dumb reason not to use a tablet, right??)
but Samsung made their case terrible for the S6, and people were complaining left & right so, I figured I wasn't going to pay the ridiculous price I already did for the first one (for the S4 $150!)
Anyway, thank you so much for your wonderful video!
Thank you for text version! It really saves some time. BTW, can you say something about drawing on Nuvision Solo Draw 10?
I've not tried that app before
Funny, I use the image at the background on the s4 (min 3:25) in one assigamen I had. Nice review!
That quick zoom and rotate by gesture looks nice and other than the portability is the only reason I'd consider one. If I didn't already have a desktop the S3 would be right up my alley.
Thanks man for the awesome review. As always very detailed and professional. The only issue with Samsung tabs is battery life. Ipad standby battery is 1 week.
you can turn the resolution scaling up or down in the settings so the buttons will be smaller
Thank you so much for this review! I think it's good for people to see other options besides the apple pencil. As awesome as the apple pencil is it's not the only guy out there. I personally prefer the Android OS, so that's why I ended up buying a tab S3. I like that it uses a Wacom digitizer so I don't need to charge the pen and it shows where the pencil tip is on screen. I've been happy with it!
Art App wise, I personally recommend Artflow for the Android artists out there. It doesn't have as many brushes or the textures like some of the other drawing apps like Medibang, but it's got a very good simple interface and all the Full Features you need (all the same layer and brush blending options as Photoshop, lasso/move/resize, magic wand, smudge, PSD export) Good work flow, as the name suggests lol.
Looks lovely actually. The screen looks really crisp and the added space is great. I honestly love my Samsung Tab A 10.1 with S pen, it just has a 1080p screen instead of a 2k one but the drawing experience is still fantastic. 1024 pressure levels and it only cost me 250$. The S pen is a true pleasure to draw with, feels very natural coming from my wacom intuos background. I don't see myself upgrading to this since I already have a great tablet, but I can say that my experience with Samsung has been very good so far. If you prefer Android, then this is a good option I feel.
Do your drawings sync with your samsung phone as well?
Thank you for this helpful review. I already bought the s4 and primary use is work, watching videos, but I occasionally make art, and your video helped me choose some good apps to draw more! I am confused about stylus that have recharging, do you have a video that specifically addresses diffferent drawing stylus options? Thanks!
I would love to see how this Tab S4 performs with Clip Studio Paint in 2020.
Using it since the app came out I think that it's the most stable app on Android ecosystem even with bigger size files ....everything from opening big psd files to drawing on high resolution canvases with many layers works fine...
It works surprisingly well! It does have occasional stutters with zooming/rotating the canvas but it really is impressively good.
Excellent review!
Thanks 😁
You rock Teoh !!!
I think app called DeX MAX allows users to adjust the app window size in samsung dex mode. That might solve your problem on the window size on your drawing app that is not custom adjusted for dex mode
Do you think this tablet still good in 2022 ? I considering between this and the s6 lite , my main is drawing not play game
Great review I wish I could get this tablet.
Thank you for this review, it's very helpful. I'm looking to get one of these tablets for drawing tho I'm still undecided which one. And thanks for showing us drawing apps, do you know any apps good for editing videos too? Also, do you have a screen protector on the tablets?
I don't know of video editing apps on Android.
Hey what wallpaper are you using for the tab s4
Have you tried LayerPaint ? It ends being very responsive on most the devices I use and I'm curious of how well it would perform there.
Can you perhaps review the Tab S6? 😊
good review thanks and i will buy it
I bet your asmr videos would be amazing. Your voice is very soothing
The lack of dedicated hardware navigation keys is annoying (and therefore also the loss of the best place for the fingerprint sensor).
16:10 isn't necessarily "worse" for productivity though. As the displays are the same width, it means with the 16:10 display you get room for UI/tools and therefore a more workspace (canvas/document/etc.). As a bonus, videos look better and split screen apps are better.
“Self-portrait of me”
If it’s a *self-portrait* who else would it be 😂
Nice vid, i bought an ipad pro but it always bothered me the squared shape.. and also i never really liked using ios devices (i got used to it tho), if i knew about this tablet before i would’ve definitely bought it!! I also considered buying a chromebook, but a thing that its better in the ipad than in this tablet is the use of multiple apps at the same time! The interface it’s definitely better (it would be more enjoyable if it wasn’t squared shape tho) nice review 😊
The best review I have seen Tab s4
I love you
Great review, I'm wondering though, does Adobe Draw make all the lines vectorlines? Similarly to drawing on Adobe Illustrator, there is a lag when the lines are drawn compared to photoshop lines.
Those are vector lines. You can zoom to 6400% and lines are still sharp
Damn, I just realized that I'm broke af
Nice! Im gonna use this for drawing ALOT, mostly gaming though
Surprisingly I've been enjoying drawing on the Samsung S Pen on my Galaxy Tab S3 more than Apple Pencil on the iPad. I use the airbrush tool a lot on Sketchbook and the S Pen gives you a "preview" of the pen size before you touch the "canvas" and the tip makes less of an annoying tapping noise. I guess because it's made out of a softer material. Also I like that the S Pen has just the right amount of friction and not having to charge it is a plus as well. ...However, for note taking in Microsoft One Note and "pencil" illustration, I prefer the Apple.
Can you do a Best Drawing app for Android VS iPad and its pros/cons? Thanks for your views.
7:34 you can find pressure curves on the drawing app, on infinite painter for example there's pressure curves for brush size, flow, opacity, jitter and even tilt, they're located on the brush settings
Thanks 😁
Hi, could you kindly explore bit on printing posters out of the drawings, paintings, sketches etc from S4 please? As an artist I had problems in printing out posters from my artwork on S3 as they were not smooth. Like your opinion please
Dear Sir,does adobe illustrator cc 2018 (desktop version) can install and run perfectly on this apple ipad ?Please guide.thank you!
Adobe CC software only works on desktop and laptop.
Sounds like he's saying "old ass pen"! Lol
Yass lol
Can you do reviews of the Surface competitors like the Acer Switch 5 Black edition, Lenovo X1 2018 tablet, and the HP Elite X2 2018 tablet. These are all 13 inch and bigger tablets and are productivity machines.
Only if I can get my hands on some review units
Thanks i was thinking about buying it but now i am sure
For some reson, whenever i try to draw with the s-pen, the screen reacts to the pen before the pen even touches the screen, is there any way to fix this?
Edit: Nevermind, i deattached and re-attached the tip, it works wounders now.
Hi. After a year or so with your tab, are u noticing a any burn-ins or issues with the amoled display? Thanks.
No burn in
can you try Huawei Matebook E 2019 with pen?
2022 Here. Thank you. This is exactly what I need. Your review is very thorough. Do you know if it supports Krita, Inkscape, Gimp or Open Shot?
Krita yes, the others no. Here are some good drawing apps on Android www.parkablogs.com/content/best-drawing-apps-android-tablets
Broo lets go i wanted to get this for krita
Nice review, unfortunately for me, i already have the note 8 to draw on. The only upgrade i will get is the larger screen but lesser RAM.
just waiting for the 2018 ipad pro to come out and wait for comparison.... I may go with a refurbished iPad pro 2017 model if the 2018 model don't impress. Refurbished 2017 iPad pro and tab s4 same price for me in HK.
@@itsathenas that's a hidden feature of apple products, haven't you ever wondered why screens crack so often or see people like that
Hey would the pen work on the app called IbisPaint? I use it and it's really nice. So could you try it out so I know if it's responsive.
I'd like to know too.
Hi Teoh! I have never used any apple gadget but from my research I think I would like procreate than any drawing app available in android. Is it a hassle to transfer digital works from iPad to windows PC and vice versa?
For Windows, you have to transfer to a cloud drive (eg Google Drive, Dropbox) and download from there. For Mac users, they can transfer directly via AirDrop.
Thank you, I really enjoy your channel and your art style. I was hoping to see the Tab S4 compared to Cintiq 13HD or very similar. I know Cintiq costs substantially more, but I've only used the Intuos Pro Touch, so was wondering if Cintiq would be worth the extra $$ over the Tab S4, or even the cheaper S3, given your very similar drawing experiences between the two Samsungs?
The main thing about Cintiq is you can use desktop software, so you have access to Photoshop, Corel, etc. If you're just drawing for fun, Samsung Tab S4 or S3 are good enough.
Which apps would you recommend for sketch purposes and maybe some light color editing or paint? Also, do you have any problems with the palm of ur hand touching the screen and moving the art piece or drawing accidentally? if so, then which apps do and dont have this problem? im looking into buying this, and its not a cheap purchase for me sadly, but im not very sure if i should buy it because of possible wrist problems getting in the way of sketching, please help ;-;
You can try Artflow, Autodesk Sketchbook, Medibang
@@teohyc okay thank you so much, im looking to buy one tommorow :)
Thank you very much for uploading your text review as well. I'm researching and was looking up about the ipad pro and microsoft surface pro but my god they are so expensive and have to buy everything separately! ... not good in my book no matter how amazing it all looks. This is worth researching and i will definitely research on the tab s3 if you think its not too much different.
Ended up getting a iPad Air gen3. Your reviews for that helped my decision along with hours of research as well. Thank you for doing what you do!
Thanks for the video. I was looking for an artist review of the s4. Do you have any experience with note taking? Is there any app like notability or good notes? Thanks
Note taking is good on the Tab S4. But if you just want a good tablet to take notes, get the cheaper Tab S3 because note taking performance is similar. On Android, some good note taking apps are Inkredible and Squid.
Thank you very much!
Do you *really* not have a preference between Samsung/EMR/s-pen and Apple/Pencil? (I much prefer the s-pen)
I prefer Apple Pencil slightly more because the tip feels very solid. But I fine with any of the better styluses, Apple Pencil, S Pen, Surface Pen. They are all good.
Hi! Could you try to ask for a Galaxy Tab A? Could be a nice video reviewing the cheapest tablet with an S pen vs an iPad
Interesting video. I recently got tab 4 but I have a problem. I want to ask if you can reduce the growth of the pen to the display.
Growth?
As an art hobbyist, this could be a great tablet for me. I already have a Note 8 and I draw on it a lot, it's like an all in one deal for me when I bought it. But I still feel restricted because of its small screen... which prevents me from pushing my limits when it comes to digital drawings.
I feel bad for my fellow hobbyists who feel pressured to buy the ipad pro and the ipad pencil for an expensive price, just because almost all of their favorite artists use it. Not everyone loves Android but if you're just a hobbyist and is looking for a cheaper alternative than the ipad (and that you love Android and wouldn't switch between os'), then this tablet and the s3 is the one for you.
The art community for Android users really need some loving haha. Thank you for this video btw. It costs the same as a good x-pen drawing tablet in my country now (forgot the model but it has a screen on it like the huion kamvas and the cintiq), I might go for the x-pen tablet so I can finally have a reason to use my macbook pro often but I still wanna buy the Tab s4 tbh :)
Hey, great review! I wanted to ask, what drawing app do you think is the best for drawing? I'm an architect student..if that makes any difference. Thanks!
Maybe check out Concepts concepts.app/en/
Which app did you use?
Great video! i have a question :when you use Spen to write on the tab s4,your skin will contact the screen,it will bother you or not ?it like be write on the real paper ?
There's palm rejection so there will not be any stray strokes.
Thank you very much for answering my question.
Great video as always! Have you tried Markers with the S3 or S4? It's a free quick app that's fun to play with. Have you tried Corel Painter Mobile? It has some nice features as well. Keep up the great work!
I've not tried them. Thanks for the suggestions
I like your glasses. Those t h i n b e z e l s are beautiful.
btw mine has half frame
